I swear the copyright system at RU-vid is so mishandled. The fact that seemingly anyone can just claim someone else's video without any verification process is ridiculous. Why is it on creators to prove the work is theirs, instead of on the claimant (thief) to be able to prove they can/ should be able to claim it in the first place?

That's the question of the day, my man. And it's not just RU-vid either. Authors and artists have to do the same thing whenever their work gets stolen, which is completely stupid in my opinion.

Umm... yeah, RU-vid just is on a copyright bender right now. I hope they look into this into the future. - In this case, if they have NOTHING to do with the project, they should just void the copyright strike.

I think I heard or seen of some similar scam where people create webpages and whatever and they just somehow claim content that's on the internet, I don't know how it works but either this dude is doing for money obviously. And man I hate that you keep getting targeted with copyright and other bs policies bro, you've been careful, if not too much. Keep your head up bro

RU-vid does this on purpose because they're having a tempter tantrum that the European Court forced them to apply copyright law. I guess their tactic is if they piss off enough people then they'll kick up a stink. It's been 6 years now and this still hasn't happened, so I doubt it ever will.

Someone who steals content/art, to me, is the lowest of the low. There's literally nothing worse. Imagine some fool claiming your kids are his without absolutely any proof and mostly for economic profit. Ridiculous.

i'd contact the original creator for sure. a fake copyright strike isn't great, but from what i hear about youtube they are pretty absent from any sort of dispute. at least the creator can likely sort out what the issue is and resolve any damage that's been done

I looked at the dudes IMDb page, and not only does he claim to be in an editorial role for John Wick 4 (Doesn't appear in the actual credits), and appears in a project named after his exact name on IMDb. 100% not a legit claim. My guess is that at most he's not a real person since one of the photos I found of him looks almost like AI.

These strikes are easy to appeal. Just appeal on the grounds that the person claiming copyright is not the owner and they are using RU-vid to commit a crime. I got lots of these when I ran a news channel. Appealed all of them and won all of the appeals. I know RU-vid does nothing to the criminals because a lot of the claims came from the same company.

@@Trusteft There's an option to appeal on the video in the content section of RU-vid Studio. Then you just follow the instructions. The worse thing to do is nothing, cause then they automatically win even if they are not the owners. There are companies that makes millions every year because people don't appeal.

@@Trusteft As long as they don't challenge the appeal, which they can't without hiring a lawyer and proving ownership. It takes a while for that process to happen, which I why I closed my channel, because news that is only relevant on the day is a dead video a few weeks later.

Besides, if he's falsely filing copyright strikes against you, he might be doing it to other RU-vidrs too. Or he might decide to come after you again because you _didn't_ fight back.
