The only one out here not only doing real calls but actually going from cold. This is how you see a real professional with skills. Much respect from Australia.
Often receptionists and prospects themselves will say “Is this a sales call?” You either lie and say no or yes and get hung up on. The best response one of our guys came up with was “It’s a sales call with context” the reply is then always “what do you mean?” Then explain why your calling that person specifically. Works every time 50% of the time.
Dude, that interaction with the gatekeeper in the beginning was absolute social chess. Incredible navigation of subtle social cues and verbal judo. Very impressive.
I love how these people think they get one over on sales people when they do things like that, when your call could actually be the best thing that happened to them all week...:not to mention going over the decision maker’s head! Madness
@@theodoreshandrow because many gatekeepers and/or receptionists bat away ALL sales calls. They do not have a filter ( this could be good, this could be bad) as a business owner we should train our receptionists on how to filter. There will be somethings we want to hear and others we don't, its their job to find out what makes me tick( as a owner) not just tell everyone to go away
You're outwitted this time, Benjamin. That's why I believe you showed excitement at the end! I remember you saying "People would trust you only if you are smarter!" I do learn a lot from you ☺️
I think the reason this works very well is if they say to the CEO multiple times “it’s Benjamin from Bournemouth.” And the CEO is legitimately busy and networks, on a subconscious and possibly conscious level the CEO may think “shit, I may have met this person and promised them something, I don’t want to be unprofessional.” A lot of people love the vanity of being CEO, and so if they don’t seem like a man/woman of their word then they will lose the vanity that comes with being the boss. I mean do you think Jeff Bezos calls and says “oh hello gatekeeper, how’s your dog? It’s Jeffrey from Amazon, we distribute products worldwide and want to work with you.” He probably says “It’s Jeff, your boss knows who I am, they want me to call.” As he himself will have a lot of vanity around running the largest company in the world. No doubt he loves calling and seeing people scramble just from hearing his name, when we call/prospect we need to sound like an important person, not a desperate sales person. What do you guys and girls think?
Hey Benjamin! Thanks for the great value you offer in this videos and thank you for posting these ones where you get rejected as well, it allows me to put myself into the same position and make me feel relieved that even good sales people get these awkward moments. Thanks loads.
Been watching your content for about a month now and Have loved every bit of it. I have improved the amount of DMs I am reaching over 50% and increased the amount of pitch/discovery 50%. I have been selling for 10 years but never cold-calling! I have shared your content with my wife (in sales and her company as well)
Hey, I get these kinda calls so often, but there’s pressure of targets etc, how to win or generate leads in such a case?? I guess salesperson has to work so hard to defend job
Pressure for targets is lead by crap management. They measure metrics that don't matter or enable salesfolk to improve. You're a free agent. If your boss is an idiot, find a better one. Doing a lot of busy crap that achieves nothing, is a worthless existence.
Gatekeepers don't get trained to avoid sales calls. They might get told "don't put sales calls through to the MD" or something, but there is no training to go along with that. That's why getting around gatekeepers is such an important part of the salespersons utility belt.
i promise I'm not just saying this but i have done exactly this and went back and forth with a gatekeeper for even longer than Benjamin did. and I'm nowhere near a great salesperson, just was tired of hearing mfs sigh when i tell em my name and company. i just keep saying my name Al, acting lost like "lady i'm confused why you keep asking me where i'm from" lmao
@@benjamindennehy or the money follows you! I love the empathy and agreement when facing rejections. Did you pick up the slight laugh from the original gate keeper when she said she'll put you through to the MD and she heard the excitement in your voice! The second gate keeper - well that's good old karma! Maybe you should call back and offer her a job as a gatekeeper L&D manager for your events! P.S. Are you selling merchandise on your website yet? Love the hat!
Hey Ben! im just curious as to why you stopped uploading on your channel for 3 years now. will you ever come back again? and whats the reason you left at the first place? We MISS you ALOT
@@muddodger I have watched most videos. I do not disagree with either sentiment, both most gatekeepers and sales people are amateurs. I merely pointed out that being a gatekeeper for a short time might add some insights
True. I literally just say I was “given this number” to get in contact with (first name of owner). When they ask who it is, I just give them my first name and say “he’ll know me.” Works 9/10 times.
