Well, last week I released the fourth and final episode of my RETURN TO PLANET THANET series, in which I explored some of my old stomping grounds in KENT, ENGLAND. But when I returned home, I had to pay some pretty gnarly FINES.
So, needing to GRUMBLE about bureaucratic corruption, and experiencing a bout of depression, I took myself off to the woods to eat some SEAFOOD, and RANT about the situation.
This episode is RANTY! But don't worry. Normal service will resume next week. Hopefully...!!!
Oh, also I say in the video that I'm "not from London". That isn't strictly true. I was raised in London for the first twenty years of my life. I am, and always will be, a Londoner. What I said in the video simply meant that I haven't lived there for nearly 30 years, and have no clue about the place anymore.
So please, if you're a Londoner, don't be offended. I'm one too. 😁🥳

Aw, Peter. 💕 Thank you so much. 🤗 I'm trying to get back on the horse. I managed to go out for a short drive yesterday and filmed a small amount of B-roll, but it's a slow process and I can't rush it. Better weather will help, and I'm starting to get the urge to travel again. I just need to get my brain chemistry back under control. Thanks for caring, and for the kind words. 😘x

Dear Kit, I am sorry to hear you've been feeling low. A good rant, though, helps smooth over the ugly vicissitudes continually thrust upon us! Soon your beautiful and buoyant self will shine again for sure! That balsamic dressing can be tricky stuff, so best to test first. When it works hurray, but it can just as easily cause a big fail? Thank you, Barbara. 💕 I'm feeling much better now. I've spent a lovely weekend with my Hubby, celebrating our 1st anniversary, and I am happy and contented once more. Balsamic dressing is indeed tricky, and I regret abandoning plan A. But it's there in the cupboard for next time. 😁 Goofy me will be returning once the weather clears up. Storm Eunice is battering me at the moment, and I have no intention of going anywhere until it settles. But my next video is already planned. A literary episode! 😉😁💕😘x

Holy crap man that sucks. Coded markers that move about policing the air without explanation? That’s crazy. We have highway tolls that take pictures of your vehicle and sometimes they get it wrong. It rears it’s ugly head when you go to renew your driver’s license. That happened to me with no way to prove that I’d not paid a toll three years earlier, they’d tripled the fine and it cost me $185 to get my license. So Infuriating.

Yes, it's 1984 already! I've managed to escape a few of these bogus fines in the past, but this one came with FOUR PAGES of reasons why they would refuse any appeals, and I knew I was screwed. I just bit the bullet and paid the damn thing before they started increasing the fine. 😡 Thank you for watching. 😊 It's lovely to see you again. 🤗😘x

I know how you feel with your mental health. Going through it myself at the minute (divorce, moving out my home etc etc), hope you are feeling much better. Really enjoyed the vlog, I must admit I was in hysterics as you were ranting but it's so true how you can so easily get stiffed and when you have little or no money anyway it's a big chuck of change to lose!!! Can't wait for you next adventures, should come up north!! - our fines might be a little cheaper haha :)

Thank you. 😊 I hope your situation improves and you feel better once everything's settled. Sometimes life just sucks. 😥 I'm glad you enjoyed it, and hysterics are the best reaction I could hope for. Thank you. I was worried that ranting would alienate viewers, and I cut some bits out at the last minute. But yes, I'm skint, and it doesn't help getting my pockets picked by a corrupt system. My next adventures are planned, but the weather is awful and I may have to miss a week if it doesn't improve, as I don't want to spend money on an excursion in 90mph winds and torrential rain! What part of the north are you in? Sorry if you've already mentioned it. Thanks for watching. 😘x

What a racket, sounds like Jakarta in the early nineties, when a policeman would suddenly decide to declare a one way traffic street and set up a barricade and demand a fine payment. The whole world is rigged.

Absolutely. It is a racket, and the whole world is rigged. We are living a dystopian nightmare these days. All we can do is try to live our best lives and not adversely affect other people's. Human beings, and all our shit, in cosmic terms amounts to little more than a blip. I take comfort from knowing that in a million years (or less, hopefully) we will no longer exist, and the animals will have inherited the Earth, and will probably be doing a better job than us as custodians of the planet. 😊 This is my bipolar version of cheerfulness and optimism, btw! 🤣

Oh, wow, Debbi, that's not even the worst of it. I barely touched the edge of the zone! I never drove through town. Just across a small corner of it. Boris Johnson came up with this piece of brilliance. Presumably in-between parties, since he can't seem to go 5 minutes without having one! lol 🤣

I've never had smoked haddock, but now I'm keen to try it since you pointed out its yellow colour. Your meal looked delicious, too bad about the balsamic though. Wow, the ULEZ sounds like a real scam! I'm raging! They should at least have the decency to instruct people properly. I hope you're feeling better now!

That sucks. I don't believe the government should be allowed to just take pictures of your van, mail them to you, and fine you. Call me old school, but I think an officer should have to pull you over and give you the fine in person for something like that. Even still though, it seems like a bogus fine. Stay strong!

Really glad to see you after so long. 🤗 Yes, the government here use a vast network of cameras all over the place to catch people out and fine them. They pull us over too, if they have a speed trap set up, or see an opportunity to harass you, but the cameras are their main weapons these days. Welcome to 1984! And yes, a totally bogus fine. Oh for flipping hecks sake ( haha i can't swear on your channel!)... those fines were way too much! I hate the idea of a ULEZ zone, fortunately there isn't one around here in Merseyside (YET), but i wonder what they do with that money... how actually does it help the air be better anyway? I don't understand it, and probably i don't want to understand it because i think it's just another tax on people, and we pay enough already. I shall stay clear of London..... in fact i've stayed clear of anywhere for the longest time, i haven't been anywhere recently as the weather is just too awful. So sorry you poured poop on your feet in front of your neighbour, that must have been 'awkward' to say the least! BUT the main thing here is, please just carry on doing what you're doing , just use less balsamic dressing in future! haha Stay smiling 🙂x

Haha! I have no problem with you swearing. Or do you mean RU-vid didn't let you? I have no swear filters as far as I'm aware. Yes, ULEZ is an obvious extra tax (as if motorists don't already bear the heaviest tax burden already!) and as you say, it makes no sense environmentally. To be clear, there was no poop involved, as I'd already discovered that emptying the cassette was horrendous beyond words, so I don't poop in the van toilet. But there was a week's worth of pee in there, which had then been festering for a month due to my apparent senility, so it was still pretty gross. LOL And yes, no more balsamic dressing in the future! Thanks for watching, my friend. 😘x

Oh sweetie, that's unfortunate and unfair. Sorry you got stung, not once, but twice just trying to have some fun away with your Willy. Can I ask where you got caught out in Thanet? I suppose overnight parked up motorhomes are prone to get targeted, its easy money for councils with tourist spots. Lesson here is be extra diligent before you bed down for the night with Willy. I bet you won't be embarking on anymore long distance trips for a bit. Take it easy for now. You need to take good care of your health first and foremost. Can I ask, since you've never said, if you have gainful employment or maybe a private income? I ask because you've installments to pay on your Willy loan.

Thanks, Charlie. 😊 Yes, I got double-buttfucked! lol I was caught out on Palm Bay Avenue, between Cliftonville and Broadstairs. There were no obvious signs (it was dark) and there were other motorhomes parked there in oversized bays, so I was certain it was a proper campervan parking spot. Oh, well. Lesson learned. I am retired, so I have a very limited income, and vanlife costs way more than I anticipated - even without fines - so I'm in pretty poor shape financially, and it's quite scary being locked into a 7 year finance deal. But I'm making the best of it. The world's gone mad, and is feeling very much like a dystopian nightmare nowadays, so I figure I may as well say "what the hell" and just try to live my best life while I still can. 😘x

@@kitsworld Yes, I know that parking strip, there's a small and cheap cafe there. It's very popular with campervans hence the penalties charged. Oh lordie, a 7 year finance deal is super scary for sure. I guess you're hoping RU-vid will come through with income. Please don't get yourself too deep in financial difficulties sweetie. Don't worry about promoting TDC, they've more than enough visitors they can just about cope with, especially now with fewer folk going abroad. The last 2 summer seasons were hell with way too many visitors. Instead, simply promote your good self. Wonder what we're all in for next Sunday?

@@charlieuliginosa2494 Yes, I was hoping to get some extra income from YouTubing to help finance the van, which is why I seem so desperate for subscribers! Lol. I hadn't planned to sell Thanet as a tourist spot. I know it doesn't need help from a piddly little channel like mine, but I do resent the parking fine and the way it was done so sneakily. Also, I was in the van the whole time with the lights on, so they could have knocked and told me to move on, but instead they quietly put the sticker on my windscreen and snuck away! 😡 But anyway, it's over now. 😊
