Hey Debbi 💕🤗 Yes, Quast is the best - by a country mile - although there have been a few that I also really loved. But no one beats Quast. Wilkinson is okay, I don't dislike his Valjean, although there are MANY that I consider way better. He's the OG and I respect that. I do think the stunt casting of him as the Bishop was, though fun, a mistake, as he just didn't have the right voice for the role. Too chewy and screamy. I agree that it was a good call having him greet Valjean after his death rather than Eponine. But I also feel that this was the ONLY good change in an otherwise sub-par movie adaptation. And I simply cannot forgive the Hollywood casting (especially Crowe) when the set was literally teeming with West End and Broadway alumni who could have sung ALL of the principle roles better than the A-Listers who were cast. Even Jackman was woefully inadequate as Valjean, and all his songs had to be transposed down to a lower key. Jackman should have played Javert - I could have got behind that - and then maybe Alfie Boe as Valjean. Anyway, I'm waffling. I could talk ad infinitum about Les Miz. lol Thanks for watching. 💕😘x
