I will try to condense as much as I can. Michael joined the Gaither Vocal Band in 1984. 10 yrs later he won 4 Dove awards, was on top of the Gospel world. A week later he announced he was having an affair and had to return the awards. Airplay & record sales were stopped. This song was written by Gerald Crabb of the Crabb Family. Son, Jason is known for singing it. When Jason & his siblings were growing up, Michael English was their inspiration. You can see an excited Jason in this video as Michael is singing. Then at the end Jason & Michael sing it together, with the Vocal Band. This was very moving! Thank you for your reaction!

Not only was Michael having an affair but it was one if his background singers and she was pregnant with Michael child. They were both married to others and cost both their marriages. She later miscarried the child. This isn't gossip. Michael stated all this while giving his testimony. He returned his dove awards but stopped singing and began drinking and addicted to drugs. He actually became homeless and was sleeping on Wynonna Judds couch when the Judds (of country music fame) did an intervention and helped get him into rehab. He ended up going to rehab a couple of times before he got straightened out. He publicly apologized to the Gospel Singing World but most continued to disdain him. Bill Gaither and the group of singers he's associated with asked him to return to singing with them. Michael is doing well now, has remarried and is forgiven and has now mostly retired. I read thay he had a nodule on his vocal cords and had surgery so I think that's why he doesn't sing as much. God Bless Michael English and we thank and praise our Lord Jesus who forgives our transgressions and forgets them. May we humans strive to be more like Him as far as forgiveness. Amen. Thank you Lord for Michael English.

Hello again. Beautiful song! We all need forgiveness. Love your reaction!! So many videos of the Gaithers and David. The Gaither Vocal Band has changed over the years, but it's always top notch no matter who is singing! And of course, when David went solo, he also has many videos out and they are all phenomenal, so no matter what one you choose, it's a winner. Thanks again.

Michael has been through a lot of trails and tribulation on and off from God's community when he was younger, but he always come back, and Bill always welcomes him, holds his place in his band.

Here's Jason crabb and his sisters singing this after his dad talks about why he wrote it. He was so young In one year 1700 people were saved to this song. That's why it was a pretty big deal when Michael sang it with the family's support. The people in the first row that are the first to stand up are all the Crabb Family. Michael sings this with so much emotion. He fell from the top of his solo career and our Heavenly Father gave him another chance. Since then Michael has sang with so much love of for the Lord. 🔥🔥🔥🔥

My mama absolutely loved watching the Gaither's and all the others that sing with them. Made me tear up listening to this song and seeing your reaction, because my mom has passed away back in November last year and it definitely made me think of her. You should check out some of Mark Lowery's stuff, he's absolutely hilarious.

What makes this so special is that Michael went through a very dark time in his walk with Christ. He was shaken from what he had done. But God got Michael through that dark season. You can feel the emotions through his voice. God is amazing! Amen FYI. The guy in leather jacket is Jason Crabb. His dad wrote this song(his testimony). 🙌🙌🙌🙌

Michael got way off track many years ago with drugs, affairs, etc. and walked away from the Lord for a time. Clearly, he came back to the Lord and the Lord helped him get himself back on track, so this song is from his heart and his experience, which is why the depth of emotion and the level of sorrow with which he sings.

I came across this video where Michael English gets very emotional about singing this song which normally Jason Crabb sings cuz his dad wrote it. Michael had some sort of accident he wasn't able to sing and just watch Jason's response Jason is truly amazing to if you haven't can any of his songs he hasn't truly amazing songs. Even more poignant about this song, is that man on the side is Jason Crabb whos father wrote the song. Jason actually made it famous. Watch his reactions you'll see he knows the song, knows the real witness in Michael and how that son was one instrumental in bringing him back to the Lord.
