"the application only works on Windows computers" sounds soooo scammy to me tbh. But the excitement can definitely dull one's senses especially when it's about something we love. Really glad you got your account back Alex. Thank you so much for sharing this & raising awareness. One can never be too careful when downloading stuff from unknown sources. Heck, even known sources need to be checked because you never know if the account you know is in good standing got hacked yesterday.

Glad u got your account back Alex. I get these kind of offers on a daily basis from all kinds of brands and its the same procedure, they look ok and some have sweet designs and all but what they always do is include those stupid pdf / zip files….and thats when I just send a big finger back. 😄 but its frightening since it can look pretty solid… and I guess there are a ton of content creators opening these files. The problem should be more widely spread so everyone knows it bullocks. Glad you lifted this. Thanks! 🙏 Love your content, keep crushing!

Glad you’re back Alex. Another RU-vidr running a home automation channel also got hacked in a similar way - he said he had 2FA turned on and the hackers were able to even disable that from his account apparently. Rather scary

I had notifications for Tesla Bull the same day you got hacked and I wasn't subscribed to that channel and they have since been removed. I'm glad you got through this and got your account back.

Very helpful video... I received the first email you got and then basically the same follow up email from Liza as well... I didn't get as far as you in the process... but dialogued with Lowden on their website chat about their guitars I dropped Liza's name and the support there said this is a scam... I felt dumb and there were warning signs in the dialogue but I have been no informed and Lowden shared with me your video through their chat! Glad to know you got the support from RU-vid and have your channel back!

I get these emails every week from these hackers ugh! It’s hard to tell what is real, but I think trying to get a human on the phone is the way to vet this.

Your videos always linger with me and I think of things to stay later. When you mentioned your child who is disabled my heart really went out to you, I also have family who is disabled and is dependent on me. Most of the time we just get on with it, but its an added responsibility. These hackers are the just truly horrible people, they are vandals of peoples lives, they do not care the damage they can wreak on people! Glad its over now! Your channel is one of the BEST!! Glad you got your channel back! I reported it saying it was hacked and asked RU-vid to give it back to you as soon as possible. It is a huge mess because people also fall victims of the bitcoin scam that they set up. I'm very aware of how RU-vidrs unfortunately get hacked and in most cases it is trough this process you went through. Everyone make sure to keep your computer safe with a good antivirus. Never execute any suspicious file without scanning it. Specially heavy files that can't be scanned by the usual matters. Happy everything worked out for you Alex!

I once downloaded and installed malware too, it makes my RU-vid account upload many many (like 100s in the span of fmone night) videos about various game cheats and the download links (which is obviously the virus) got banned the next day, which is why I'm using this account

Oh man, the one red flag seeing the letter after the fact is "I would like to offer you cooperation". That's not a phrase we normally use in English. They probably meant collaboration and it would have been written "offer you a collaboration deal". The other flag is, "Dear Blogger"? If they were real they would have known your name from your videos. OTHERWISE the letter looks/feels/smells real. Alex, I'm not saying "I told you so", I'm pointing those items out for anyone reading, to help dial in on fraud. Nonetheless, we are SO glad to have you back!

What I find the real problem is not detecting all those warning signs but to be AWARE in that moment it happens :D ... and btw, you would be surprised about the language, grammar and articulation of some people when receiving a request .........

Do you have any information on how to protect your device after that? Did they have an access to my PC or they have my passwords?

Hey, I am sorry to hear that. I changed my passwords and initiated 2fa protection. The hackers stole a good amount of crypto but if you change your passwords everything should hopefully be fine.

Wow, scary how lucrative the bait seemed! I think that many people think that only idiots fall for bait from hackers, but it's obviously not true. Most people would fall for this scam. Very glad to have you back! Lately I've been wondering why the heck I see Tesla content on RU-vid channels and weird live broadcasts with Elon Musk. Now I realize that those were hacked accounts

Never EVER click on a EXE file received via email. I don't care who sends it. That is one of the worst things you can do in regards to keeping your PC secure.

Yes, at the end of the day we are all smarter. During a full workday with phone, emails, writing music, deadlines, walking the dog and private stuff, it doesn't get that obvious, especially not when everything is so well done as shown in the video. I get beta versions, trials, new software and video requests for products sent on an almost daily basis. It was the first time that something like this slips through and I know that I wasn't the only music producer running into this problem.

@@AlexPfefferFeel invaded and robbed but never feel at fault. With hackers it's a numbers game. Eventually they catch even savvy and suspicious people off guard. The best of them tap into things you commonly expect as a normal part of your day. Shipping alert scams is another huge one because we're all expecting something to arrive on any given day. With this type of hack and as you continue on with product reviews and such, contact the brand directly and confirm the offer was actually sent by them. I don't even trust family emails suggesting a link to check out unless I text them to confirm they sent it. Google has two step verification. We have to use our own manual two step verification process to double check the senders actually sent the stuff. So glad it worked out for you in the end. May I ask- did you have a verified recovery phone number and alternate recovery email set up? Those didn't help prevent or recover your account?

Hey Roland, du kannst bestimmt Untertitel anschalten und diese auf deutsch bringen, aber jedes Video auf deutsch bringen wäre der doppelte Aufwand an Aufnahmezeit und das ist in meiner Situation einfach unmöglich. Abgesehen davon hab ich bisher alles auf Englisch und ich würde noch mehr Follower verlieren da man sich plötzlich wundert was da los ist. Ich hab jetzt schon 400 Follower und zwei Monate Arbeit verloren 😔
