iLove Buhbbles nah it’s been like that for decades, even before the EPA cleaned up all the toxic smog hovering over the US in the late 70’s. Since lead sleds and lowriders in the 50’s and 60’s, the cops in CA have been pulling modified cars over just for the suspension on the car sitting too low to the ground and non factory wheels and tires (which ironically helped spur the invention and use of hydraulics to raise and lower a vehicle with the flip of a switch, basically the grandfather of air suspension). Best way to deal with it is to reside or have the car registered in another state

I went to Bondurant there and they had a HUGE auto park for every kind of racing and auto events. Loved to see the acceptance of car culture there (and had a bucket-list blast at Bondurant Racing School).
Teo Hernandez it ridiculous on 4 of July too I did illegal fireworks which I shouldn’t have but I was on 3 to last Excalibur shell saw a black car at stop sign I knew it was the cops because they waited for me to shot it off but then city next to me retards shooting illegal fireworks at each other they never came to me I’m only the one got the ticket
For full inspection it’s a 25$ fee. If it’s for just exhaust it’s 108$ so you got lucky. You’re going to have to go to court and plead no contest, not guilty or innocent. Then you pay another 25$ for the court fee. If you pay the fine in full to not go to the process it will stay on your vehicle record. Just fix it and it shows that it never happened. Been state ref’d 4 times in my STI it’s not too crazy if you just fix what they got you for. Keep in mind I’m from the valley and absolutely EVERYTHING (motor wise) has to go back to stock. I’m not sure if this was a fluke or is a loophole but a buddy got a ref ticket and let it go to collections. He paid the ticket out of collections and it does not show anything on his car or record.
I got state reffed for exhaust but I ended up paying the fine upfront which was $200. The Clerk at the window didn’t even mention that I can pay the fine and clear the citation even after I asked her what all my options were. I think you would have to mention that option to them.

A "mouthy" chick is sexy...at the right time and in the right place. Third, air bags....u know better. Finally, str8 pipes. That's a tough one cuz i know the benefits (on a track) but as a street mod, especially in Cali?? The overall work is so nice, you'd still get the nods without the str8s. The biggest problem I've said it before and I will say it again is No consistent standard which is a violation of equal protection. A clearly defined standard like most States have.

My friend has gotten reffed in CA for exhaust multiple times, he said the ref didn’t care if his car was slammed or not. Might be different in your case cause the cop mentioned the ride height, but in my friends case he just had to put his stock exhaust / headers on and get it smogged and cleared. Hope that helps 👍🏼
Hey man! I got reffed for my swapped 240 last year and instead of trying to get it signed off you can just pay a fine which was $400ish at the time for me.

Yet, they have baseless campaigns protecting them like “loud pipes save lives” and “look twice save a life”. There is a lot of corruption in traffic laws, California especially, and it needs to change. If people are zoomin down dense residential areas at quiet hours then those are the people that should be pulled. But on an empty highway? A car meet off a busy street where people are driving normally? That’s ridiculous.

Question…. If you’re not racing the car and 95% of the mods are cosmetic, can the bags be aired up until you get to the meets? Can you put an electronic exhaust cut out? You can set to your preference once at the meet, then switch back before getting on the street.

And your wheel definitely need alignment and your clearance is lower than a lawn mower then definitely it's illegal. Louder than a chain saw then its illegal. Mine is louder than a chainsaw but put it in a high gear infront of the cops will make you stealth around them.
If you do the early morning stuff like cars and coffee they tend to leave you alone but I won’t hardly take my car out after dark now because of paranoia.
I live in middle bumfuck Illinois. Lived in ny. No inspection here, no emission laws, straight pipe, slammed, etc. they don’t care as long as they can see you through you windows up to 25%, see your taillights and you car isn’t extremely loud.

Hope y'all realize it's not illegal to have a car lowered its just considered unsafe. Its also not illegal to have that sound... If he has a muffler then they cannot legally give him a ticket and win in a court. The worst he can get is actually a sound ordinance violation in which they can ask for a quieter muffler.
ZachSuhy Not true out here. The problem now with a sound level ticket is it requires a state ref to be signed off. The other part of the law is that it is at the officer’s discretion as to what he thinks is loud and you are then stuck with this process. It isn’t a you are x amount of decibels just simply you are modified and off to be reffed.
@@rallen2777 the thing is by state law you can fight it in court, there's no laws saying you can't modify, it just states you have to follow certain rules. I looked it up after watching this video and everything on that ticket is trash, there isn't single thing you can't fight in court because everything he has done to the car is legal. The only thing I'm not sure is if he has gotten emissions tested. Cops can't legally go off there discretion, they have rules to follow as well to make sure its not unfair treatment.
ZachSuhy I agree with you but this exhaust law is stupid. If a cop believes your exhaust exceeds 95db he tickets you and you get reffed. The thing is though that they don’t have to prove your car is over 95 dB to write you the ticket. Everything can be disputed in court but it just sucks to get the ref process as they check everything and not just the exhaust. When it was a fix it ticket you either had to get it fixed or signed off but the part about this new law that I hate is the discretion that tickets you without any actual proof and starts the ref process.
Same thing happened to me. I had to put my car back to stock took it to the state ref had to pay a couple hundreds of dollars for the inspection. Had to pay to get my car back to stock had to miss a couple days of work during the process. Court day comes and I have all my paperwork in hand ready to show the judge. Judge says “the officer that pulled you over didn’t show up to court, case dismissed. Would you like a copy of your case’s dismissal?” The point is that if I would’ve known the cop wasn’t going to show up I wouldn’t have put my car back to stock. Idk if you want to take that risk tho.

hey dude i jus got a gnarly ticket for going 116mph on the 101 & got state reffed for intake & exhaust. my ticket was originally $1440 not including state ref fee's. So I was bummed like you & didnt wanna go back to stock on anything, so i set up my court date. Mind you i still have my mods on the car but can't drive it til i get it state reffed. So my court date came, I went in & pled guilty to speeding over 100mph & he dismissed my state illegal emissions violation & lowered my fee to $285.00. MY MIND WAS BLOWN I WANTED TO THANK HIM OVER & OVER!!! He not only lowered my fees tremendously, but dismissed the smog state ref shit. I was like yesss, now I dont have spend time & money removing all those aftermarket parts. So go to court first before going to the state ref.
