Absolutely brilliant performance! Supreme clarinet virtuosity and excellent performance on the vibraphone, the piano and by the Drummer. Very inspiring.
Wow. Was that good. Some Benny Goodman trivia: One of the times he was on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, he was the first guest and did a number with his orchestra. The audience (and Johnny) clearly wanted more and Johnny cancelled every other guest for that night and the ENTIRE show was the Benny Goodman Orchestra. And this was back when the show was still and hour and a half long.
Bloody excellent. I far prefer her to Anat Cohen and most other modern clarinet players. I rank her right up there with Eddie Daniels and I will take her playing even over Benny Goodman's. There I said it and I am glad ! well done girl!
Both Janelle and Anat Cohen are channeling Benny Goodman. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Their work isn't too much more than embroidery on the original, but modern recording is so much clearer that their playing is still a real treat. Definitely not complaining! Now someone please do "Pick A Rib Part II" and if you don't know what it is, look it up!
of course she's a good player technically but this just doesn't do it for me...to me she's not feeling the music, she's just playing notes, again not to be disrespectful
