Can never understand people like Downtons. You showed them to be a good company to work for with great looking DAFs. All good stuff and free positive advertising for them. With your promotion they would never be short of drivers. Then ....... boom! Not having it. Bye bye. Now they look like a company that would be too ridged to work for. Talk about cutting your nose off to spite your face.
Well i kind of thought this to be fair. The products i were showing on the trailer were being delivered. I wasn’t advertising that i’d parked up at Keele with 26 pallets of Whisky on 😂

@@lewis211 if people that go out robbing from truck see these videos they will know which companies to target. Plus if one of these vehicles does get rob because of one of these videos then the insurance companies may not pay out. If you where out delivering cigarettes you would not do a video of it so it’s the same with alcohol. But some things can be filmed as it stuff that can not be taken.

Always plenty of work for HGV drivers , dont dwell on any negatives from employers , as long as you can pay your bills just enjoy the driving and variations you can get doing agency work...keep safe.
I’ve been sacked more times than potatoes! All I did was tell the planners transport planners what I thought of them to the faces ! No back stabbing from me just straight to the point , seems they don’t like the truth lol 😂

Hey Deady... I can't believe Downtons doing that. I discovered yesterday that the country is short of 76,000 HGV drivers!! And likely to get up to 230,000 short by 2030 unless they can start recruiting younger drivers. This is because 49% of drivers are over 55 years old an looking towards retirement, and younger drivers are put off by the cost of getting a licence, the long days of manual labour and nights away from home. Things really need to change in this industry. We are looking at your next day deliveries becoming next month deliveries if ya lucky!!!
Someone should tell that paperclip manager that companies are making big road safety improvements with driver facing smart cameras that pick up distractions and falling asleep. Camera looking at you is not a distraction! Anyway, onwards and upwards

Another interesting day in the life of a professional driver, any chance you can do a video of the danger cyclists face from them undertaking or stopping in front of the cab, and also some rear facing camera work, as im quite surprised how much visibility you lose of the rear end when turning or reversing. Many cyclists dont understand or know of the huge blind spots on trucks, and they need to know for their own safety and to be professional in their riding to keep us all safe.
A few years ago a tractor unit was stolen from the Company you are driving for, it was driven from Skem to Blackburn where it was used to ram the gates of the place Iworked at, they nicked a full trailer load of aluminium, later they came back for another trailer but the tractor unit broke down blocking the entrance due to a knackered starter motor. The stolen trailer was found in Little Hulton (still loaded !), the Police stayed with it incase the thieves came back and I had to go and collect it.
Because of you I’m doing my class 1 next month all already paid for, I currently drive class 2 tippers for tarmac, one of the easiest and chilled out jobs I ever had lol, spoke to my boss if he can put me up on the class 1 once I pass so I can get some experience, he said yes so happy days!
I'm still agency mate, I am fulltime for a haulage company but love the freedom of being able to take time for myself if ever..your a todge in a truck that does a bloody good job fella
The side panels on that shape scania were prone to coming loose. The springs would weaken overtime to the point where you'd go right round a roundabout and it would fly open

I went in low under a trailer last week, and skipped the pin. The unit hit the wind deflectors. Shit myself. Only passed 3 weeks ago. Won't go in so low again 😂
That’s a really interesting insight to the company you drove for in the video. I had training booked last year but took a u-turn because of the lockdowns. If I did it, I would prefer something like that with the shorter days and regular work / know where you stand and decent wagons as better life balance. Appreciate you saying you find delivering the same product boring but for me I wouldn’t be bothered. Would be interested in who the agency is / company is you drove for if you could share it.
They don’t like recording because any negativity hinders their recruitment in a driver shortage and customers don’t like high value loads being recorded because of theft Good employers have nothing to hide it is the bad ones with high labour turn over who do
you will notice a slight difference between the tripple axle trailer, and dual axle, tripple the pivot point is the centre wheels, and dual axle the pivot point is half way between the dual axles. but actual driving, and reversing then the dual will turn quicker in a way, not just because of the length, but because there is also less tire scrub resistance. think the guy you are on about with the headcam in a scooby was either 2-3 foot tall or laying the drivers seat down on the back seat while driving for a good camera view. usually find that is the problem with being more than 4 foot tall the headcam is useless for driving videos.

My husband told dowton to do one as lied about everything the job was and what they would be doing with them as a new driver asked for some help and basically got told to do one and get on with it that was putting it nicely. So very unpleasant there. So he looking alwere .

I got "sacked" by logistics people who are owned by Stobarts and ironically 1 month later Stobart got shown the boot and XPO took over. The agency that ran the site before logistics took over in the 1st lockdown, who I originally started on that site with, was hired by XPO to supply the site and they contacted me and offered me a job. The pay has gone up by £5.46ph(umbrella rate). Letting you go like that wasn't right, they should of gave you at least a warning 1st to stop the recordings and you would of left anyway. But to just get rid of you like that is not professional and just shows you what kind of company it is.

@@carlwood1432 i don’t get paid per hour. I get paid per vid & from sponserships. This month i’ve earned more from RU-vid than i have from Driving. RU-vid pays my bills, every single month, this is why i do it.
