Are you going to take over as advertiser? You do realize you’re basically asking him to make these for free, right? Are you self employed? If not, I’m sure the company you work for isn’t perfect. Did you quit your job?
True, but it seems like there's a little April Rose's affect on Tyler , I say this coz the presentation/script and the dialogues are a little different than before it's giving her vibes combined with Tylers
Tried contacting you on multiple platforms. Im a certified tech for these cars and know pretty much everything about it. It's pretty easy to fix all your issues. Theboil leak may be a rear main seal. The motor unplugged is not what you were told. The issue with the touchscreen not selecting the blower motor is the hvac control module, but you still may have a blower motor issue. As for a missing under pannel, its not missing. Nothing should be there. The wheel shake is caused by the bushings, very common issue.
Better Help doesn't tell you how expensive it is until the payment process. I'm disabled and live on a very low fixed income. I can't afford it out of pocket, and it isn't covered by heath insurance. The FTC also filed a lawsuit against them for selling people's private medical information. I suggest you drop them as a sponsor.
They just post fancy pictures. They don’t actually know anything about what they sell, just hooking up sleazy auto dealers with guys that that have more money than sense.
You definitely need to report that seller to Bringatrailer so they can perma-ban him from selling anything on their site ever again. Scammers like that give their site a bad rep.
I'm sure he will. He had a similar situation a couple years ago on BaT where they refunded him all the buyer fees. That was on the big wing Mopar Daytona.
There’s a company called Karma Automotive in Moreno Valley, California that bought all of the Fisker assets. They reassembled the assembly line and built the Karma Revero which was essentially the Fisker Karma with a new name. They updated some of the electronics and offered services to Fisker Karma owners to have software updated to eliminate the harsh lag on the touchscreen. I don’t know if they are still in business but they may be able to help with the lag issue. Also I was told that suspension was built to pass crash tests and was purposely built to be overkill because Henrik had government loans granted to him and had limited time to get the car built and he wanted to make sure it was beefed up so it would pass crash testing. Henrik was planning on eventually reducing the weight but the company went bankrupt before that happened. The company I work for sent me to the Karma plant in Moreno Valley to help get their assembly line up and running and I was able to drive one of those. It’s a weird car because it’s huge on the outside but very small on the inside.
A blower motor out of a Corvette is the same one Fisker uses in your car. You also don't have to pull the dash out you can get to it from behind the glovebox. Water is pouring in around the cabin filter door but you can seal it up and stop the leak and it wont short out again. The motor should be less than $250.
There is the possibility of a lawsuit for "fraudulent inducement" in Florida. My observations are that the decline in Morals and Values in US appear more prevalent. The challenges for lawsuit, showing/proving seller was aware of the problem. Seller misrepresentation. Lastly there is easily accessible info about steps a car buyer should take to reduce risk/potential problems
I just did a blower motor on a Fisker Karma a few weeks ago... We were able to get a C6 Corvette blower motor for $150 at a local auto parts store, and it was a Continential that matched the original perfectly! I was able to get it replaced in about 1.5 hours of time upside down under the dash.... Enjoy!
hey, Hoovie, check the outside temperature sensor. I had a BMW that showed the outside temperature as zero degrees so the computer wouldn't let the AC come on. Turns out the outside temperature sensor (located under the front bumper) had been damaged. Fixed it for $100.
And check if there is enough R-134a on the system...i bet, its gone after years of standing around... (The mechanic could have checked it in a minute..)
In Tyler's defence, it wasn't supposed to be a junker. Only 16k miles with service records is promising at first thought, plus the seller didn't disclose any of the problems
Can't trust BringATrailer. As seen with the issues with an Alfa Milano on Wizards channel, this Fisker Karma as well as a Fiat I drove with transmission issues that was not disclosed by the seller when they later put on auction, buying on the site is a too much a risk.
If you were driving all highway, it doesn't surprise me that it didn't make the advertised range. My 2017 Chevy Volt was the same way. The advertised all-electric range was 53 miles and for in-town driving, I'd gotten over 70 at times, but on the highway, the range dropped to mid-to-low-40s (for 75-80 mph). EVs are exactly opposite of gas cars in that regard. Because of the brake/coast regeneration, your city "mileage" is significantly better than highway.
Its not strictly because of the brake/coast per se, its because of the higher average power utilization on the highway. Higher speed = more aerodynamic drag, which is more important in EVs since they have very little internal parasitic friction compared to ICE vehicles.
I found an old forum post about someone bitching about a dealer in Toronto Canada charging 4 grand to replace a bad blower motor. the poster then had a dialog with fiskarphilly and said that the car was going from Canada to Florida. this was in 2017 another post on the same thread said the blower motor was the same as a Corvette one and cost them 225 bucks to replace.
Parts are a fraction of the repair costs. To replace the heater on mine the doors have to come off to access structural bolts. To replace the blower motor, the steering column and EPS motor have to be removed.
@@davidelliott5843 in the same.post fiskarphilly and the fellow who said the motor was only 225 also said it took them 20min to remove the blower motor so not 3k plus labour is required for the job
@@jaysmith3361 Not worth the effort when a brand new one is only $150 (they are from the C6 Corvette)... they are buried in the dash and a pain to pull out...
Yea, not a chance it only has 18k miles, regardless of how old it is. Definitely odometer rollback. Zero carfax history from 2013-2017 (only 14k miles in 4 years??) and from 2018-2024....only 4k miles in 6 years? Right...
For sure. Check out the rear valance panel when it’s on the lift … bashed in and held up by hardware store sheet metal screws. In 1 spot they drilled about four holes and missed the frame each time and gave up made me laugh. Some real ghetto repair work.
One of my friend had his driver side mirror knocked on his old alfa romeo 156 and a/c stopped working. His mechanic fixed the mirror and told him that that mirror was where the outside temperature sensor was living. With the mirror and the sensor gone his a/c didn’t know what the weather was like outside and stopped working all together. When your a/c had a faulty reading of outside temperature i remember that incident from years ago.
Never buy new in Florida either. There is no state limit on dealer fees, most dealerships near me charge well over $1,000 just for the privilege of being ripped off by some arrogant d-bag salesman and finance guy.
I bought 3 from BAT - been a few years since. Seems they got money hungry and just let anyone sell now unverified. My experience in the past has been ok, it's old used cars so I would expect some issues, but not a ton of undisclosed.
I definitely think the guy is scum, but if you know anything about cars you should know what cars to avoid/are money pits. You have to assume cars like this are piles of crap
My shop neighbor has the patent on the lower control arm bushings for the Karma. I do the alignments on everyone he does. He works on the Fiskers from all over the nation. Odds are he has inspected or worked on your car.
As they say, Karma is a bitch. At 10:05 I love how Wizard keeps such a straight face as he shakes his head and says, "what a shame." You KNOW he's dying of laughter inside.
He's not laughing inside or at all... he's got a heavy heart as far as this casual observer can tell. He's a good dude.. and like most doesn't want to see his friend being taken advantage of.. even he's a customer and thats how he makes a living.
Fisker: "Let's build a hybrid, they are better for the environment" Also Fisker: "Lets make parts all over the planet and assemble it in another country, just like every other manufacturer."
BAT will get flooded with bad press and comments! Somebody out here knows the seller of this car and should OUT him! I’m tire of these scammers costing people thousands of dollars!😡
Thirding this. Hoovie needs help, all these hooptie scams are driving him to therapy! And what better way to help someone's sanity than engaging in an engine swap!
Some might laugh but its going to be the cars future, regardless who owns it. Probably an easy swap, possibly a bolt-in considering its using a north-south GM engine now.
@@FrankBullitt390 Yea the challenging part would be replacing that horrible infotainment system and rigging up your own climate controls etc - but it is doable. It's either that or it'll be crushed in a few years.
$100,000 car with 18k miles for $20k. No factory support, no dealer support. Gee, why would someone sell such a lovely car for $20, what could go wrong buying site unseen over the internet?
Hes not upset the car is broken, he is upset people lie and don't take responsibility for their issues. Maybe the owner didn't know it was broken. but they should have at least had a discussion with him after finding out.
Hoovies yet again saving us viewers thousands. If you're in a tight budget avoid highly devalued luxury cars, especially from low production Automakers.
I swear everyone who got scammed by a seller should post the name of the crook that sold them the lemon in the video… that’ll stop some of the BS & this includes Tyne dealerships including the salesman and finance managers! It’s time🤔😡
My words out loud would be “Oh no Hoovie I’m sorry you got scammed again!”. Wait what’s that internal voice? Hoovie should use his finances to put an LS in the Fisker? Yess yesssss, fantastic idea.
To be fair, that car and company were a scam from day 1 and still going at it today. And the fisker guy somehow still running around scot-free raising more millions for his next money pit venture.
I have a b207 ecotec engine (very similar to yours), and one thing that is guaranteed to fail and cause an oil leak is the pcv valve. It is a check valve with a rubber flap in it which dries out over time, this causes high pressure in the crankcase which creates oil leaks. Just replaced mine, you need to remove the intake manifold which is a pain in the ass but no more oil leaks now and the engine runs better. If you find the valve cover gasket to be hard i can almost guarantee the pcv valve is also in need of replacing.
I really want to see this car fixed and sorted out, it is beautiful. We don't have too many cars built here in Finland, but this is definitely one of the most interesting ones. Great that there is still an active community for these cars!
"Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me over and over and over again", (play The Dave Clark Five ). Serenity now, serenity now!!
Just FYI, this is not a "plug-in hybrid"! It is in fact a range extender EV, as in the gas engine is there to only provide electricity for the batteries. There is no classic gearbox or direct coupling between the engine and the wheels! It is in fact just an generator
If you take a flat-blade screwdriver under the tab and pull it up briskly, the tab will auto-remove without posing any future problems with disconnection. In extreme cases, Aqua Seal can be used to protect plugs when reconnected -- they should come from the factory this way, but that's a premium upgrade.
I actually drove a HHR with the 2.2 and it had the same oil leak from the VVT solenoids. The stock ones would go bad around 100k miles, and the leak started when I replaced them. The new ones are a bit too small. On the HHR the oil just leaked down the engine and not on the exhaust so there was no smoke. I actually thought a little bit of external oil might be helpful against rust or salt corrosion. It was the real McCoy as far as I was concerned, haha.
I had a Bosal exhaust on my 1995 M3. The original owner was Australian and brought the M3 here from Canada. I never did look into where Bosal came from or what happened to them. I did love that exhaust. There’s a video of me doing donuts in the m3 with it here on YT.
The site isn't at fault. They had no way of knowing about the seller. The seller signed up in January 2024 only to sell this car. It is unlikely BAT will allow him to list anything else.
A neighbor of mine had one of these. Every time he took it out it broke down. I don't know how many times I've seen him pulling out of the driveway, just to catch up with him stuck on the side of the road. That thing had more miles on the back of a truck than it did on the road.
Speaking of Lada… The same factory that built the Fisker Karma in Finland also used to build Lada Samara cars for the European market. And that Lada also had a GM 4 cylinder engine in it. Old Russian Lada engines couldn’t pass European emissions limits, so they got a 1.5 liter fuel injected GM engines for the EuroSamara
Blower motor: my Saab blower motor was seized due to water infiltration, I took it apart, soaked it in some magic sauce, and after a few days, it ran perfectly. I also found the defective engineering that let water into the motor and fixed that.
James man hats off.. you took it out without any experience you gonna put it back with no issues.. All the Experts and professional started like that too none was born with it … Koodos man keep it going…
Fisker, a good designer but absolutely never let him manage a company. He was hawking some "solid state" wonder battery to drive up the stock that was a complete scam as well.
It really is a beautiful car - did you notice the interior? That looked VERY modern for a twelve year old car. That Fisker dude really is a great designer.
If a car is for sale anywhere in Southern Florida, i automatically assume scam and move on. Cars in Chicago also seem to be iffy more than not but just my limited amateur experiences 🤷
I’m really sad that wizard will be retired in a few more years the future videos won’t be the same and that means his channel will be gone as well if he’s not a mechanic anymore. Love you David
he is not retiring for 40yrs, haha, if he's in demand he never really will, however, things will change, they may ban older gasoline run cars so people can't get around cheap.
You _might_ actually get tips and tricks on increasing the battery range from the Chevy Volt forums since the battery pack in these I think has similar lineage with the first Chevy Volt prototypes (Continental/A123 Systems). You might be able to rebalanced the cells with GM tools, or another way they do it with the Volt is put it on blocks and just let it roll in Drive while in EV mode (without applying the accelerator pedal so the gas engine never kicks in with 1 mile of range left) and just let it fall below minimum state of charge for a time (which I guess also balances the cells without a visit to a dealer). My Volt with 90K miles has experienced about 6% in range loss although I rarely discharge it completely.
Sorry for your loss but that's for taking the hit to make these informative videos. Making a comment is the least I can do. Joking and not joking at the same time.
I'd say the first mistake is buying a car that was made by a company that went under after the first model year, came back and then went bankrupt again.
Fun fact… most of what you said is misinformation. Tesla lost that lawsuit when it went to arbitration as there was ”overwhelming” evidence to the contrary. I think Fisker likely designed a cooler looking model S, but probably thought it was cool enough for him to make money and quit.
@@alexanderstefanov6474 The car itself is successful, in that it's a viable proposition that can be used for it's intended purpose. It's a much better vehicle than a tesla, in every single way. It just didn't sell. Probably because Elon musk has a lot of investors seed funding him, and Fiska doesn't.
That is a cool design and it does look like new. Sorry about the expensive repairs. My Dad was a Tote the Note dealer in the early 1960's. Just be grateful there is no sawdust in the rear end.
