*I got scammed* Fake Weiss Schwarz Cards - How can we tell?

@@Nyatsume I temper back in the day anyone can spot a fake Yu Gi Oh or Pokémon, now they are getting so close even on like Weis Schwartz, which I consider the best quality cards out of the playable card games.

It's ok, lucky it was not a more expensive card 😅 Considered it a lesson learnt for me.

No problem, scammers don't deserve a place in WS and the more people that are informed means that scammers has less opportunities and hopefully move on from this 😊

Won't be able to recover my money but it was a lesson learnt. To be fair, I been buying a lot from Mercari Japan but it's a first time I encountered a fake. 😅 But with more and more high value cards in recent sets, scammers do have more incentives to push fakes.

🤣 Glad you enjoyed that moment. These are widely available on Aliexpress. Although through some official market places, there are people pushing these off as authentic. The one fake card I receive was from Mercari Japan. But I would say the number of fakes on official platforms is probably 1% or less.

There isn't much value in faking booster boxes for Weiss Schwarz as the hit rates are low. Hence, most of the fakes are on the higher value cards, SP/SSP/SEC and regional/world promos 😅

Good point! Weiss side have white wings while Schwarz side have black wings. Usually, fakes don't pay such attention to this too!

There are plenty on Aliexpress and they do ship internationally. 😊 Do note that some of them do feature smaller card size compared to standard, so check out reviews as well.

Definitely have to be more careful, check out the tips mentioned in this video as well as seller feedback, and if the sales can be done with buyer protection are ways to protect yourself during a transaction 😊

@@Nyatsume Yeah, thanks! The seller has a 100 percent positive rating with 600+ buyer feedbacks. And there is a 30 day return with shipping paid by seller. I checked the seller's photos of both front and back of the card and took your advice like looking at font, signature, and color scheme especially the back. It all looks good to me, and I decided to make the purchase. After I get it in about a week, I think I will also post photos of it on the Weiss Scharz subreddit and ask them if they think the card is legitimate to be more certain as well. @@Nyatsume Oh great. The seller just messaged me and says he/she wants to cancel order because he/she discovered a defect with the card. Have you faced a similar incident like this before? Thank you for any answer/advice you may have on this matter.

@salkryeful I mean it's a good thing if the order is cancelled before it is even shipped. Usually people are paying the price for a near mint/mint copy if the condition is not stated. If the condition is not perfect, the price should be cheaper. I guess it depends if buyer and seller can agree on a price based on the condition 😊

@@Nyatsume So try to negotiate? And I am probably wrong to say defect. The actual words from seller is that the "card has serious problems." Whatever that means. Regardless, seller wants me to cancel, but I feel like there's something wrong if I start the cancellation process on Ebay. Just a gut feeling. It is the number at the bottom of the cards. In this example, you can see AZL (set name), S102 (set number), T55SP (T - from trial deck, 55 card number, SP rarity). Most fakes usually don't bother to get the serial number right.

Numbers on top and bottom are clearly the dead giveaway also if you shop on JP Mercari avoid ACG in the tittle those are fake

Usually anything below RR like R, uncommon and common are not worth the time and effort to fake. So if you buy those you should be good. The signatures on the other hand, SEC, SSP, SP can cost hundreds of dollars which means scammers have incentives to push their fake version of these cards. Difference between the real and fakes are in value. Usually signature cards in general go up in value as we seldom see reprints for Weiss Schwarz. Real cards can cost hundreds of dollars and above. Fake cards have little value and people depends on what someone would pay for a known fake.

Yup, good thing Weiss Schwarz foils are pretty unique compared to other TCGs
