@Noah Bryant I mean, it literally sents armed swat team to a house with thoughts that there are armed psycho murderers in the building. One wrong move from people inside will be their last
@Noah Bryant 1 out of 200 deaths by law enforcement (i.e. police fucking killing someone) are unarmed people. Yeah, this is attempted murder. If it's not, then it *absolutely* falls under one of the weird categories of, like, manslaughter, or something.
Ik this is pretty serious but imagine being a police officer and walking into a room turning to the right and seeing a $15000 life sized statue of Jackie chan
As an LA Officer today i'd propably be thinking "a streamer lives here" ... as an LA officer in the 90s i'd propably think: "a drug dealer lives here".
Im a deputy sheriff and I have walked into plenty of dark storage rooms at different retail businesses, with full sized mannequins in them. Scary as hell. “OH JESUS CHRIST WHAT IS THIS NAKED MAN DOING HIDING BACK HERE WTF” “oh whew it’s a plastic mannequin” lmao
@@chinguunerdenebadrakh7022 What police are you taking to? I have met dozens of officers and all of them have been great people, ESPECIALLY in areas with high crime rates like where I used to live. It took until the third officer to notice Jackie Chan standing there, if it was the real Jackie he could of done so much damage, they need to be retrained to check their corners.
@@flybasilisk7834 swatting has killed people before, as has many instances of sending armed police forces to people's homes. People have been arrested for it. You're an idiot if you think multiple people with guns isn't threat of violence. At best this is a death threat.
After watching the anthony padilla interview with QT, I'm shocked Ludwig was able to handle this so calmly. I hope both are okay and some real change actually gets done about this (although knowing the state of our world that's a fat no but hey i can dream)

Just a reminder that Tyler Barriss is 3 years deep into his TWENTY YEAR SENTENCE for swatting. We really need to track down & persecute swatters more. Should be sent to prison at minimum for such gross misappropriation of first responder resources, and the danger you're attempting to put the victim in.

Some poor guy who had moved into this house a year ago and had no idea what was happening had a swat team arrive and unfortunately he was shot dead.
I would be annoyed (not mad) that the police failed to do their job. He’s already on their record of ppl that got swatted before. He’s supposed to get notified via phone like they told him he would. That’s how things are supposed to work based on what another streamer said (who’s also been swatted before)

You can register your address as a swatting risk with links to all possible streams for the house and phone numbers for them to check on them when they get a call. I don't know if it's a universal thing yet but I know it can be done in a lot of places
Yeah, reducing government access to private property is the solution. They wait an hour for kids' dire fates in a public school to play out but immediately break into your home without even knocking or ringing the door bell, for a mere call or message sent to them by a rando. And they have the connection data, so if the caller didn't use a burner phone they could easily pinpoint and sue them. But they clearly don't do that or it would be way less common.
@@outside8312 But it sounds like Ludwig did that already. But they don't check. Sounds to me like their actual IT solution doesn't display it properly to the 911 operators, so they don't check.
I feel like there should be an easier way to locate callers so that they can get prison time for this. It’s not fair for streamers to get swatted by trolls all the time.
For some reason, i have never heard of this being a normal thing for big streamers. I thought Lud was dodging the accusations but if there weren't any to begin with, it makes more sense if it's just trolls.
As someone who has been swatted myself, I agree greatly with your points as I wish there were a way for the police to determine these fake calls. Or atleast be able to tell if it's not from a real phone/VPN.
Its because police are there to protect and they want to get to the call as fast as possible and domestic disputes are one of the most dangerous calls a cop can go to so thats why they always take it super serious. especially if its in a big city like LA.
I actually think they know, but they still have to check it out, on the off chance ot is actually a crime, so when they get there and figure it is just a bunch of innocent guys, they take the opportunity to be in on the prank and terrorise them more for jollies and to pump their own egos.
I'm a 911 dispatcher, the problem with those special contact numbers like Lud is talking about is that we aren't allowed to use them in the scenarios that Lud would want us to. If the caller is reporting an immanent life safety issue to a third party, we have to send the response regardless. The whole emergency first responder system is set up first and foremost to minimize liability for the city/county/agency/whatever. We can see the flag on the address and know that there probably isn't really anything going on. But there's a 1 in a million chance that Lud finally snapped and is roasting Aiden over the firepit in the attic. And the city doesn't want to get sued by Aiden's parents for just calling Lud and accepting his word that "no really Aiden's totally fine and not cringe." So the number is always gonna get ignored. The only time we'd be able to use it is if the swatter was reporting that Lud himself was the victim of the crime. But swatters know that, so they don't do it.
So why not send just 2 cop cars to just check instead of a whole swat team BEFORE FINALLY SEEING IF ITS SOMETHING SERIOUS TO THEN SEND A SWAT TEAM. LIKE SERIOUSLY WHATS EVEN THE FUCKING POINT OF HAVING THE NUMBER. ACAB. JUST CALL THE PERSON, VERIFY, IF NOT DO THAT, SEND 2 COPS, HAVE THEM CHECK, IF IT IS INDEED SERIOUS THEN GET SWAT TEAM INVOLVED. ACAB ACAB ACAB FUCK U
Okay, but you could check the stream? If he's live then you don't have to send anybody. Also it's really a really idiotic system in general that there's not a way to identify the person calling. It should be the basis for any action take. Fricken ridiculous.
My gf is a dispatcher. I will say, a lot of what dispatchers tell officers is ignored. Officers also have a very bad habit of not sharing information. So if an officer told you they would call, they likely never told the dispatchers that or their fellow officers. The dissemination of information within law enforcement is extremely poor on all ends. She is constantly frustrated about it so it's not just you.
As an EMT, county dispatchers give a lot of info and my personal dispatch cant even give 1/4 of what they said to me. I'm lucky to get an exact address from my dispatch but the county will tell me 90% of what I need without issue.
@@cedricdavis513 Damn, what a coincidence that they gave a description of their local police department and didn't generalise. Obviously, since both their local office and Ludwig's local office have similar communication problems, this comment was centred around that similarity and not an attempt at implying that all departments are like this. But aye, focus in on the one thing that you can use as a justification to be angry instead of the rest of what was said, it definitely doesn't make you come across as overly defensive.

This really really really just shows how 0 to 100 the police force in America responds to situations. A domestic abuse tip? Ignored! Sexual assault report? Ignored! A concerned parent calling about their missing child? Probably just ran away, who cares! Let’s wait more than 48 hours to really minimize their chances of returning home alive. Honestly dude I was terrified for you when you said coots got out... my cat got out a year ago when there was a crack in the door with no one home. We looked for weeks day and night, set up trail cams, put out traps crawled under everything that was there to be crawled under and still didnt find her. Didnt think I would ever get that attached to an animal but that was a devastating loss to me. Glad you only lost time and not your life or your cat.
Something similar happened with my cat Phoenix. But *5 months later* I unexpectedly heard meowing coming from the bushes in the backyard through an open window. Went outside to check, and lo and behold Phoenix was back and totally fine. It was wild. I’m shocked he was still alive tbh. We have a bald eagle family that has their nest in our backyard, and they’ve eaten many pets in the neighborhood. We are near a forest/nature preserve so coyotes are also a big problem for local pets. I was devastated because I was convinced he was gone for good. Sorry to hear about your cat. Hey ludwig! You’re 100% not going to see this but I am a 911 dispatcher (for an area MUCH MUCH smaller than LA) but I would recommend you maybe see about calling a nonemergency number for the area. You could likely speak with a dispatcher directly about this, just explain what has been happening and you could probably request that they put your number in with the address file. This way if they get any calls at that address something may flag before they even send any officers out. This also prevents you from having to deal with the middle man (aka the police). Once again I have absolutely no clue how a place such as LAs 911 dispatching works but just a thought.
"You might as well while your here do something effective with your time, make an imprint, be a positive impact, change the lives of those around you." We only have so much time and we might as well make it better for others around you and for those to come after you. Thanks for the inspiration lud
And technically it is at the very least assault, and at the worst attempted murder. Not to mention full on fraud, since it is bald face lie! Like it breaks several laws it should be hunted down and properly processed.

Reminds me of how when some babies discover their hands they flail them around wildly in front of their face. It's the same part of the brain that likes seeing a big sheet of ice break on the ground. These first two examples of "oh I do this and this happens" are harmless. Swatting is not harmless
I get luds point, but him saying “it’s only 55 minutes” as opposed to the truth which is that there is a risk to his life and waste of hundreds to thousands of dollars. Ice Poseidon used to challenge his viewers and it’s part of the many reasons he was removed from twitch. Lud has been traditionally good about not talking about it, but he talked recently about the ishowspeed swatting and suddenly he gets fully swatted live a few weeks later. It's like criminals have no regard for laws. EDIT: I re-read this and thought I may come across as being snarky. I didn't mean to be towards you, but towards governments and police forces. They say that "policy and procedures" are in place to stop this from happening, but they refuse to accept that people will keep on doing this without fear of repercussion. If they are truly against this happening, then they should treat every call as important as manslaughter rather than only chase it up if someone gets hurt.
Hurt or killed is all thats taken into consideration sadly. Property damage, emotional damage/distress, and a waste of police force money (which honestly doesnt matter as they are over funded as fuck and have monthly quotas of tickets to give lmao) are not mentioned.
