What I love about Emil's fiver videos in particular is the way he is so respectful to each artist. In previous videos he asked fiver to pay the artists instead of keeping the sponsor money for himself. He's an artist supporting other artists and we need more people like him on this platform.
Me watching this video: "Oh that sculpt is incredible. Oh! THAT sculpt is incredible! OH! THAT SCULPT is incredible!" Can't wait for the video where you've slapped some paint on the finished product, Emil. This has been such a cool process watching it all come together.
I love the little detail of the young orc holding onto his daddies ear while riding along on his shoulder. Great video Emil, and some fantastic looking sculpts. I think the increased ease of access to decent 3D printers (still need one myself atm) at a good price point is providing another avenue for talented artists to get their work out there and the ability to have specific designs made to teach particular techniques can only benefit the painting community imho.
Yeah, the 'alternative' orc daddy is much better; the concept art wasn't rabid/angry, so why was the 2nd sculpt so over the top? It's a completely different mood.
Really feels like you missed the boat on assigning which art to which sculptor, just by their demo pieces alone, by their tone and mood I'd have given the bardbarian to the first guy, looks exactly like his style.
I love the idea of a Paint-a-Long, especially the idea of covering textures like leather, fur, and hair. We have all seen plenty of videos on glazing, shading, thinning and blending, and a refresher or introduction to, textures would be a great video series to watch.
Funny how my favorites changed from the drawings to the 3dsculpts. In the drawings my favorites were Orc Daddy and Barbarian Bard because i love the cartoonish appeal in both artworks and i would have loved to see these in 3d. Both figures kind of lost that in the 3d sculpt but look realy nice anyway. On the other side there are the two female warriors that i didnt really like in the drawings because i felt them to be a bit standard. But the sculpts of these two really blew me away, I want tio have both of them the look absolutely stunning. I#m looking forward to the kickstarter campaign. Have a great week everyone.
I want to add one thing: Simpler miniatures and minis of 28mm scale can be priced a lot lower than having large busts designed! So pleas if you have ideas of smaller minis don't hesitate to reach out to the artists for a quote. Fiverr Artists used in the video: Jakubacperski (Ork Daddy) - bit.ly/3abGGaY Piotr_walczuk (Dwarf) - bit.ly/3ahmu81 Damiengrafico3d (Female palladin) - bit.ly/2z612WF K_Balabaka (Elf sorceress) - bit.ly/2K9lY0V Roysiphus (Necromancer) - bit.ly/2VuE9DD Korzhv (Bard Barbarian) - bit.ly/3co4Cd1 Kate Gricishina (Viking female) - instagram.com/hrytsyshina_art/ Rober Rollin (Bonus Ork) - www.patreon.com/3DprintingwithRoberRollin
If you don't own a printer but want to get one of the "free busts". Stephan at excellent minis offer to print these for you. I will update this comment with direct link once its all uploaded. Until then send him an email. shop.3dxs.aix-dev.de/
if you make the orc and the 2 female warriors available I'll order those faster than you can say "twenty-one minute video" and probably buy your brushes along with them. Seriously, my money isn't going anywhere anyway right now because everything is closed, so just take it. Take my money. Do this and take my money, c'mon!
They all look really good. I especially like the barbarian style personally. I know it wasn’t the style you were really looking for but to me that looked really good. I would definitely use that artist if I wanted a miniature sculpted.
Thank you for not only the free stl’s to the community, but your continued quality work here on you-tube as well. I’ll be looking for the kickstarter.😁
The female elf is a spot on depiction of my DnD character, Avaleen. She’s a wood elf sorceress/assassin with a staff quite like the one in the concept art. Love it!!
What an incredible project from the first glimmer of an idea to these incredibly, epic sculpts. Your videos are inspiring Emil and you are doing an amazing job of supporting and promoting these artist. Keep up the amazing work and I wish you all the success with your wonderful channel.
I noticed that these were all fantasy designs, which I love, but if you ever do this again it would be really cool to see some steampunk and futuristic designs. Also if you do that, you can sell the busts in lignes, like « squidmar’s fantasy ligne » , squidmar’s horror ligne, ... P.s. the busts look awesome and I can’t wait to paint them P.p.s. Love your videos thanks for making them
Wow I am surprised at how cheap these were considering how amazing the quality are on them. Looking forward to the kickstarter, please make them all available!
Awesome project. The respectful way the work of all the artist ist presentet in the videos of this project is one main reason, why I really appreciate this channel. Thanks for that and best wishes from Germany.
I look forward to seeing you paint these. All of the sculpts turned out incredible. It's super awesome of you to put up some of these files for free! Bookmarking this for when I finally get a 3d printer. Thank you.
Thank you soooo much for your channel and the free busts. i am still a noob that started this year (Deathguard) and you and goobertown are such a help to get the painting started (and Miniac). Also im going to give the orc bust to my twin brother as a present. As he has a little son and the bust makes me think of them.
I loved getting to see the finished products. It's almost unbelievable the kind of quality you got back from the artists on fiverr. I liked all of the pieces, but I could literally feel my hands twitch at the necromancer, she-warrior, and orc daddy-- I want to paint them so bad! I was already interested in backing your brush campaign, but if those busts are included as part of the goals it's going to be a frame-one back from me. Can't wait!
This makes me want to go back to making 3d models. I was not the greatest but it was a great and fun hobby. I will definitely be getting the free stl and your kickstart is on my list. Awsome Project I'm a fan for sure.
Totally looking forward to the kickstarter! Good busts are really hard to source, and something I've wanted to learn to paint for a while :) looking at my brushes, i definitely need a set of new ones.. so, getting both at the same time is a really good sell for me! Keep us posted!
I love tour videos. Looking forward to seeing the results as I’m toying with the idea of investing in a 3D printer but running an outdated iMac at the moment that may present issues.
the whole video i was wondering how much you would charge for the files, but giving away 4 of them, wow, just thanks a lot, i be looking forward for your kickstarter
Your video quality is still so great. Everyone is at work right now except me (The joys of being paid per job + an hourly wage is I get to be laid off for COVID) so even if there is background noise I'm just happy you're entertaining folks.
Oh yeah, that second Orc Face is what I'd want in an orc mini. I got into the kickstarter from Yedharomodels, cause their orcs (and the ones from Black Sun) are imo the best looking orcs out there and they look very similar to this.
Hi Emil, I just wanted to say I really enjoy your videos and really like the advices you give when it comes to painting and being creative. I usually get way too much into it and am scared to try new things since I can’t afford that many minis, which isn’t bad since I only paint them and don’t play so I always take my time and want to nail it in the end which is quite exhausting sometimes. But your advices really gave me confidence & made me try out new things and I already learned a lot from you especially when you were talking about basing and stuff. Most of the time I just watch your videos and paint along to enjoy some company, so I just wanted to stop by and say thanks! I hope you’re doing good during quarantine and that your fam is doing good! Keep it up my man!
These came out great man makes me wish I had a 3d printer but alas not in the budget as an educator. Love the work, keep it up man and make sure to share when your kickstarter goes live.
As a amature traditional sculptor, this video has reinforced for me both how much I hate digital sculpting, and how much I need to learn how to do it... damn I need a PC and zbrush
Literally just came across the concept art video the other day, so seeing this pop up today was really cool! I'm a bit sad I got here so late though. When you were discussing ideal miniature designs for busts, I really wanted to suggest being able to incorporate some sort of incense burner. I'm just envisioning that necromancer with ethereal mist swirling around him, that kind of deal. Hopefully it could be done, without it looking cheap or tacky. Regardless, really glad I found this series, the channel is really cool, and I'm looking forward to seeing where things go!
Very cool project. And thx for giving info on the prices. I've often wondered how expensive it would be to get a few minis or busts concepted (conceived?) and sculpted. I'm really looking forward to the Kickstarter, and to painting the ones you've made available on your site as soon as I get moved and set up.
I'm hyped for both female warriors and the Orc. I recently realized I paint about 90% male figures, just randomly I guess. So having more females would be a good change. I have to say the Orc really turned me around once he added hair and extra details.
First, thanks so much for all your amazing content! My question is, with increased availability to STL file miniatures, how does one without access to a 3D printer take advantage? Are there professional services that will print your third party STLs? I know Shapeways.com, but are there any competitors at better price points?
For the orc, expression was the word you were looking for! Both sculpts of the face have *tons* of personality but the second has a more pronounced expression. I think I'm in the minority for saying, but I prefer the first face. I enjoy the dynamic from the concept art that had a composed/sturdy orc and the the more delighted/energetic interacting. Despite both being great, the current sculpt loses a bit of that!
This is awesome. I am thinking of starting a little business of making minis. I have the art and am working on the sculpts, but I don't have the printers. Do you think I should just grab a bunch of Anycubic machines, or find some company to do it? I haven't really found any such company near me tho.
