Good review. I started using Arccos this year, I have 21 rounds in so I’ve got some experience and I’ll add my 2 cents: - it will not register putts if you do a quick tap in. I’ve found that for short tap ins to register you need to line up like a regular putt so the sensor (microphone) can hear the putt. Otherwise just know you’ll need to click the + button to add a putt manually. - even in a fairway bunker it will assume you can take a normal swing and hit it flush so it may tell you to hit a fairway wood. You need to know if you’re capable of making that shot. - I use my laser range finder to set the pin location. That helps with the shot accuracy and also gives you more accurate numbers with how close your chips are and first put length. - the adjustments for conditions, especially wind has been a big help. Knowing that a 150 yard shot is playing like 135 has been eye opening.

I understood the Arccos "Smart Distance" was the distance you hit the club 70% of the time, not the average of all shots you hit with each club. I never adjust the App while I am playing, except perhaps checking that it picked up a short putt. The post game data has helped me improve by identifying my weak areas, hence where I need to practice. I like that it can compare your stats to a player of your own handicap.
@Laceh1
@Laceh1 Год назад
70% of the time is probably a better stat. Most of us aren't professionals, we don't always flush our shots. So there might be bigger differences between shots giving a pretty flawed average.

Been using this system for 3 months and I love it. Wasn't thrilled with the screw caps, so I called them and they upgraded me to the grips no charge. The link is way better and highly recommended. In 3 months and 28 rounds, I have reduced my handicap from 10.1 to 6.3.

@@LetsPlayThru the data is amazing and the game improvement suggestions help you spend your practice time efficiently. Once you get 10-15 rounds you lose all of those bad shot outliers. Since you can't use it on the range, using all your clubs in your bag in the beginning really helps to level out your club distance data.

I’m confused.. does it know how far you hit each shot? Or does it just log it when you get to your ball and ask what club it thinks you should use?

I will say, as a guy who works in golf course maintenance, you are the exception to the rule, making sure the guys saw you…most folks just hit into us without saying anything and then give us disgusted looks when they hit a bad shot. Have to keep your head on a swivel. Good video, thinking of trying them but not sure yet, not sure I want to have to edit app during the round etc…

Great review Gabe! I’ve been using Arccos for about 5 years now! I’ve never used the caddie function! I’ll have to try it. Glad you did a dive on it. A couple of additions. I still bring my range finder, which I use to mark the pin more accurately, but honestly, ams should just be aiming for the center of the green, or back of the green anyway. Second, I use an Apple Watch which can be used in place of the sensor on your belt. It’ll track your clubs. And, when you get to the green, you can just walk up to the flag and it’ll prompt you to mark the flag location, so it will be very accurate. But, in the alternative, I will have my phone on my push cart, and as long as you have your cart within a club length or two from you, it’ll pick up the shot, so you don’t need the belt sensor if you don’t want to pay the extra $$$. The best part of the app is all the post-round data you get. AND, before you play a round, you can hit the history button and it’ll overlay every round you’ve played on that hole (or maybe just the last 5) so you can see what strategy is the best. My ONLY nit picks on it…if you are putting from off the green, it’s technically a chip, not a putt. But, there is no way to indicate you’ve used a putter for a chip…bummer. And, it’s now a yearly subscription…I have both the grips and the screw ins…the grips with the built in sensors I find better for use, but I tend to swap clubs, grips, shafts a lot, so the screw ins are better for fiddlers like myself. My screw ins are 4 years old now and still working, so the battery life is long. For the ones built into the grips, you can change the batteries on them…I found that you can pry the sensor out and underneath is a standard CR battery…can’t remember if it’s a 2632…something like that…

Good job on the review. Having more data is never a bad thing, but I would be concerned with averages. Let’s say you hit your 6 iron 180 yards 5 times in a row, but you punch out with a 6 iron 100 yards, well that would adversely affect the average yardages. So the caddie would recommend your 6 iron be 150 yards or so. You listen to the caddie and use your 6 iron and hit a good shot and would blow that yardage away. To have the system relevant, I think it would require significant adjustments after every round. For some people, that may be fine, but likely too much work for me. Good job on the review Gabe.

I have the Arccos system and I can tell you it takes some time to figure out those things. I play a lot of bump and run chips with my 6 and 8 irons and once you’ve got enough shots into the system it automatically learns what your real shot is and doesn’t count the outliers.
@josenegron8145

Great review as always. I’ve been using ARCCOS for a few weeks now and I found it really helpful. It definitely help you focus on your practice strategy at the range, which mainly has helped me improved my scores. As you mentioned, I found that some of the clubs averages are skewed sometimes. I guess if you use a club to “punch” balls out of trouble, etc that will change the average distance for let’s say a 3 hybrid. I’ve also found that if there is a lot of background noise (for instance, if the maintenance crew is cutting grass) the system may not record the shot. Also, it is important to mention that the system will only record the last shot you made from a location. If you hit twice (maybe you went OB) the system will only record the second shot. You will need to edit and add the penalty manually. Thanks for the review.

I am on my third round with Arccos. I’m trying to use it with my series 6 GPS Apple Watch instead of my iPhone. Have the screw in sensors. First the green band and the red colored Winn DriTac grip caps make my clubs look like a Christmas tree. Apple Watch not working with iPhone app, got an undated course. 45 day trial is not long enough 😂

The rough is a tough one because you might have a bad lie but it may come out an absolute flier. It would be cool if they had an option to select some usual options like: flier, plugged, etc. Then it could have one more layer of automation and just take direct info from the user. Just got this for my dad though, time to see how he likes it next year.

@@LetsPlayThru I just watched Bryson Dechambeau's video on chipping and it doesn't take much to know that you'll have a lot of grass between club and ball or a little. I'm sure the super nerds could go out with a robot or even just ask your players and get some nice approximations! But I think he's going to love the interface more than GolfPad and the caddie will be there for him when I can't. I also think it'll tear down any preconceived ideals about your own game. Like when you "swear" you hit X club X distance and the app is saying "look, you've hit it no where near that distance the last 8 times. Take X club" 🤣

Thanks for this great review Gabe. I've been using the Arccos driver sensor for about five years, and I'm with you, using the phone the sensor is a pain - for me it's a nuisance in my pocket, and doesn't always register my swing. With Ping, and Cobra incorporating the Arrcos sensors this grips as an option, I'm curious how that works when it's time to change grips, and the player wants grips not made for Arrcos sensors.

I was thinking about getting the newest sensors a while back but decided to get a rangefinder instead. I've heard from more than a few people that when it works it's great, but it would probably be better to let the technology get a bit better. I was so excited about it, and I'm sure the vast majority of the time it's accurate and useful. Another great review, Gabe.

Gabe...first off Happy Fourth of July!!! I actually own the Gen 1 Arrcos. I didn't enjoy it cause I found it very inaccurate and cumbersome. Possible that the Gen 3 is better but I am unwilling to put out $300 on a possibility. I actually use the TM myroundpro with my Galaxy Watch 3. Very convenient and easy to use. I have found it to be accurate to within 3 yards. Which at my game level is perfect for me

This is a great video. It's difficult to find lengthy, educational videos on the system for some reason, especially by the company itself I've use this so far with two rounds I am brand new at golfing may be eight months, and it is measuring most of my clubs, pretty accurately as far as yardage, but my 54° wedge for whatever reason it is marking the club extremely wrong and I don't know if it's because of the way I might be carrying the club around when I take it out of my bag if that impacts anything but if anybody has any suggestions, I would love to hear it because I've tried to call the company cannot get through and I've emailed them with no response for the price of this gadget. I would hope that Customer Service was much better sadly.

One of the best videos I have ever seen regarding arccos I have been so frustrated with mine and sometimes it doesn’t register. But your demeanor on just editing the shot and adding it or editing your shot…and how you split the screen to show your work was a lot of work for you. Thank you so much I think I will continue to use it but it is annoying using the phone in my pocket instead of using the arccos clip you have. Thanks again for your help. One question where’s the MGI buggy? Or were you using it?

Well at least I think it shows your score as you progress through the round...not sure?Good demo of the features.

Gabe, after watching both of your Arccos videos as well as multiple others, I see a very mixed bag on the system. Some think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. Others think it's far from worth the money. With other options like the Garmin S62 with it's virtual caddie, I'm wondering what's the best option. The S62 is $500 and the Arccos is $310 for the sensors and link plus $99 for the second year subscription. Knowing the sensors will need to be replaced around 2 years after opening, the price point says S62. What is your opinion between the two if someone can only look at one? Thanks.

There is no way on god's green earth I would pay $200 for something and then have $150+ subscription...even with a free year. If I opt out of the subscription, I have a useless $200 toy. I have the first gen of the arccos sensors...I don't recall them having a subscription.

Your positivity and enthusiasm is commendable but this system honestly seems pretty basic at best and I think you`re perhaps being a little to overbearing with it. Fails te register every third shot or so and gives you wrong club advice every fifth shot or so. That`s not very good
