Tour Edge is the most underrated brand in golf. I believe their large name plastered on their clubs hurts their brand. Lifetime warranty is unbeatable.
Funny how ppl think buying new equipment makes them better. 20 yds have been added every year for the last two decades. My math isn’t what it used to be. But i should hit my 7 iron about 550-560 in that range. Use what you have. Its enough.
Ima start by saying my irons are the same age as me and the rest is used. Most of the marketed “innovations” I see have to do with how forgiving and easy it is to hit a good shot now. I like to think of my old clubs as ankle weights.
I play Honma TR20P, while I have tried many different clubs, the Honmas are so forgiving and so hot that no matter what I hit I keep coming back to them. I also have Srixon ZX4 MKIIs but they take a back seat to the Honmas.
I have the TS1 originals and man when I strike them well they feel amazing and go long! My 7 goes about 175 got them for a good deal on eBay I want to get the IMs but I feel the difference would be minimal I figure I’ll be playing these for the next few years and will upgrade to another maltby set in the future
I started golf last year with PowerBilt clubs from a Canadian store called CanadianTire. I paid $350cad (€236) and they have been great. Ive asked lots of season players to hit them and they are all impressed.
Are they actually back? I was set to order a set just before they closed their doors prior to the pandemic. Played my best with their Apex Plus. Their wedges were great.
I have a set of these irons and they will stay in my bag for the rest of the year at least. They are surprisingly forgiving, including the longer clubs. I have never hit a 4 iron so well. The feeling at impact is so nice. The lofts are not strong (7 iron : 33 degrees) but the distance is OK for that kind of irons. Highly recommended !
hi!!! great review. what do you think about the shaft flex. I heard the stiff is not really stiff so, for a weekend warrior could be in this brand an option. please your comments. thanks,
I just bought a TS1 IM PAK with 4-PW + GW. I also added a 56degree milled wedge. The total with shipping to Oklahoma and sales tax came out to $700. It’s so much more value for money than name brand. I did a fitting at a local shop and paid $100 to find out t a good shaft flex and etc. they used a Mizzuno head that also had the injection molding. The KBs tour lite regular flex worked fine. The clubhead size is just about the same as the Takomo 101. The 101T has a very slightly smaller blade length. I went with the Maltby because I also get the injection molding and they ship from Ohio instead of Hong Kong. I just ordered them so I can’t say if they are magic, but a full bag of irons with good quality shafts and grips for $700 to my door?! Pretty nice.
I have the icon blades and they are actually 1/2 degree weaker every club but I have the Miura TC-201 so I only practice the the Hogans now but my 50,54,58 are Hogan equalizer wedges
My first set of clubs was a hogan set, some of the prettiest clubs I’ve ever played. Unfortunately Hogan clubs just ain’t built for high handicappers and given the prestigious name maybe they ought not cater to us weekend hackers. If I was a scratch golfer they would be high if not top of my list.
Great review! I learned some things about my S62 VC I didn't know before. My S62 works great for the most part. On some par 3s, the VC will recommend a club that will only travel half the distance to the green. Even the red line with the target circle will show that the shot will travel halfway. This only happens on some par 3s. I worked with Garmin for 6 weeks to resolve. Eventually, they sent me a new S62. However, the issue remains. I'm not sure what the problem is, but my latest question to Garmin: Is the target shown on the watch (red circle) based on the VC club recommendation, or is the VC club recommendation based on the placement of the red circle? If the latter, then perhaps the mapping for that hole is incorrect.
I have always loved the look of the Ben Hogan‘s irons. The problem is I’m a lefty and they only have the one set that actually is lefty. I had looked at Ben Hogan‘s before I got my Tacoma‘s and I didn’t like the look of the Lefty I really wanted the like the ones on your video and they don’t offer Lefty nor do they offer the ability to Put them in a left-hand..
I would love to see a review of the PTX pro next. This was perfect timing on the Hogan review for me. I've become mildly obsessed with researching their newer clubs and the history of the company. Seriously considering a switch from my Sim2 irons to one of the Hogan sets.
Big Ben Hogan iron fan. I have three sets. First set I bought was the PTX irons about 5 yrs ago, the last set I just bought was the Icons, they are beautiful irons, I got the black ones and the coating is amazingly very durable, no fading what so ever so far. Their UIHI hybrid irons are very nice as well, I have the 4 & 3 UIHI's. I just received the Legato golf balls and used one in a round yesterday. I normally use the Vice Pro Pluses and I noticed no difference at all. Felt the same of the putter as well. Thanks for the tip, they're almost $10 cheaper as well. Do not be afraid to buy Hogan Irons, they are great irons for the money!
Thanks for the review. I’m in the market for a new set of irons and I’ve actually been thinking of the Hogan’s. The best stretch of golf I’ve ever played was 2002-2008. I did it with a set of Hogan Apex irons. Watching this will help with my decision.
To me Gabe you would have played better had you struck the ball first and then the ground... Only a good representation of the Hogan clubs should when you are on your A game and hitting solid shots. No fatties!
An honest review of what these irons are.. and aren't. I always liked the idea of combo iron sets when they made waves in the early 2000's,, like the Nike forged pro combo, and one I really wanted the Maxfli A10 tour limited. Heck, even the Tour guys are substituting different long irons sometimes even mid irons. Makes sense.
i love my Mizuno M Craft putter, i have the same one in the video. Been trying different grips but i think im gunna go back to the og grip, they nailed it with that club
