We go every year, stay in Fort William, put the bikes in the van and drive up from near where you live near Donington park, I take my S1000rr, it's our favourite holiday of the year the Kyle of Lochalsh road is a mega road to have a play on the sports bikes and the view is unreal !
Me too...did the same with wifey in 2012....even visited the same store Green welly store :) and battled weather demons too.... glad to know they found gold...we did too in the beauty of the place
Brilliant photography Taylor. Makes the video, short, sharp, snappy and enjoyable. This place is my back garden (and of course your dad’s old stomping ground - Denny), so I’m really glad that you enjoyed it. 👍🏴🏍
Taylor Interesting fact. The train journey from Fort William to Mallaig was voted the most scenic in the world a few years ago,it's amazing. Great couple of days you had there.
Scotland next year for me again. I rode in some biblical weather down the M74 from Glasgow a few years ago into horizontal rain, a gusting south westerly gail and at night. I counter steered into it all the way down as far as Gretna and the arm pump was so bad it was either stop or die basically. A memorable trip.
Great video Taylor, lost count of the amount of times i’ve done them roads over the years, i can imagine the conversation now, “I’m going Scotland with a few mates, Taylor Mackenzie, his dad & a few more” “Oh ok, are they any good”? 😂😂
Sorry, only just caught up with this vid as we were @ Snetterton last Sunday and well done on your 2nd place. Tried to catch your attention on the podium, but think you were more overjoyed with the result, so had a chat with Billy instead. Did the west coast to Torridon in 2018, so did the same roads on the way up, stopped in Tyndrum and filled up at the same station before taking in Glencoe. Such amazing roads. Lucky to catch only one storm all week. Your journey home looked pants. Need to get back up there soon. Nice to see your dad 'borrow' a bike from Redline. A great set-up and always happy with their service.
I've just done that journey myself, and it was just what I needed to shake the lockdown out of me. I grew up in Ross-shire and the Hebrides, and for some reason we moved to Norfolk ffs! (bonus: Snett)
2022 go to Glasgow, pick up Gordon Grigor & Don Rutherford (West Coast Harley) & Graeme Ferguson (Mickey Oates Suzuki), head down to Campbeltown (whisky capital) via Loch Lomond, Inveraray, Lochgilphead. Then do the islands & more whisky ... Islay, Ghia, Jura. Take a ferry back via Dunoon. This is the best motorcycle road in Scotland.
Good to see you went from Grantown on Spey over the Lecht. Always a favourite North east Scotland bike run. To be fair there isn't much north of Perth that isn't fun.
We had our second year trip to do NC500 east to west. Leicester to moffat via the dales to devils bridge before getting on the M6, ullapool, durness, gairloch, john o groats, thurso, bettyhill, aviemore, balmoral, inverness, moffat, home. stunning roads, scenery and people
Great watch Taylor,i was about your age when i got into bikes, after a few years on sports bikes i bought a touring bike with all the panniers and stuff, changed my life forever and also me as a person.Looks like you did a lot of the places and roads i did back then and it was great seeing it and its not a true bike trip unless you get a good soaking at some point, good to see you smiling again and back in the BSB,if your ever touring around Durham or Northumberland stop by and i'll buy you a brew and a brekkie. 👍
The river at 9 mins in is the famous river spey , prolific atlantic salmon river, as you went over the river spey and turned right for tomintoul , few miles up the road is famous "Brig O Broon", in songs, then you hit tomintoul and out the backroad to aberdeen, past the ski lift etc awesome video Taylor
You aren’t the only one to be baffled by the BMW keyless (fuel cap !) I got stuck with my GS … a guy with a gorgeous V12 Aston Martin wandered over from an adjacent pump to help me … Turned out to be Harry from Harry’s garage (evo fame ) !
9:54 been there. While it might not be particularly pleasant at the time, the end result is usually a stomach full of food and a few pints of beer. What memories are made of.
Stunning scenery matey. I love living in Spain but nothing beats the ruged landscapes you've shown in that video. Mountains, rivers, lochs and ocean - beautiful.
Top job at the WHO(Prof.Christian Perronne) is calling for those double jabbed to be quarantined...ie,not allowed out...so maybe if you're vaccine free,if Nippy sticks rigidly to the advice as she's job seeking at all the institutions, including the EU...all about her,not the people!
Thanks for showing a wee bit of the beauty of Scotland. You belong here, your blood is born here. You continue to inspire a new generation of young Scottish riders and for that, i thank you. Soar Alba.
I hope to one day Ride a Harley through the Highlands of Scotland, bucket list item. I'm a retired Marine living in North Carolina, it's gonna happen, God willing!
Decent trip that Taylor, I live not far from Inverness and I go to Ullapool for a ride out a lot, still never gets boring. Great footage with the drone.
Just did a 1000 mile cris cross of the highlands back in May. Amazing trip. One day of driving rain and fog on the west coast but weather was awesome otherwise. Great video
Helmet hair, the best and simplest way. Seriously, these roads and scenery are a revelation. It's best to take time to walk some of the mountains though.
Nothing like the spray of water off the road surface from a huge truck. The rain was comfortable till that !! Excellent video- crazy swimmers are world wide evidently !! And it doesn't get any better than riding with people you don't have to worry about, riding skills that is.
Yeah the scenery we have here (as your dad knows) is 2nd to none especially if you get descent weather yeh cannae beat it ;-). Hopefully I'll meet you on the road next year.
Love the video. Nice tour of upper Scotland. Plenty of miles on a cool Adventure BMW with your Dad and mates. Can't get much better than that. Quality.
Enjoyed your video, hadn’t heard of you as I don’t follow bike racing now but did recognise your dad although not straight away. Have a photo with him and my dad along with an autograph when I met him at the Scottish Motorcycle show many years ago, he was always the person I looked out for in racing then👍
I also visited that castle this year on a bike tour . I’m up that way a lot in fact but first time to Castle Tioram. Cracking views . The single track road along the river is a bit sketchy.
Looks like a wonderful trip. About ten years ago couple of us rode up to watch the six day trial around Fort William. Wettest place in the UK. Filled up with petrol at the Green Welly for the return trip. Only the second time I’d been past Hadrian’s wall!
Wow Taylor, that was awesome!! We have so many great places to visit on our Island. It must be so cool having a dad like your's, he is loved by us fans. Yeah do lots more with your pops cos he is cool AF! Hey and you are too Sir! Oh and superb video editing👍🏻
Cracking video and great to see you guys enjoyed the trip. We were saying to your dad at one of his track days at Knockhill a few years back, you should nip across to Stornoway for a tour sometime, worth the visit and I’ll get you some black pudding from my homeland too. Live in Ross-Shire now so anytime you’re passing give us a shout, will cater for Mad Mark’s dietary requirements too. Slainté
Me and a mate are heading up there for a very similar trip this week, been up once before and its incredible!!! I didn't need anything else to get me even more excited for this trip and then days before we leave you pump this video out....awesome!!! 👍🏻
@@tmac77 You bloody legend!!! I tried to find you at cadwell so you can reimburse me for all the advertisements I've watched 🤣 Joking aside, so glad your still out on track man and your channel is awesome 👍🏻
Dude, reminded me of my last trip on the NC500. It pissed it down every day except one. On that one dry day I was heading through Wester Ross, the weather was just perfect. Blue skies, a couple clouds dotted here and there. Empty roads. And every corner was painted a beautiful image of why the north of Scotland is truly a world class destination. That is, if you can ignore the figgin midges 😀
Glorious country. Can highly recommend a journey up the inner and outer hebrides too. Also, there's nothing like seeing the hills from the top of a big Munroe, after a nice adrenaline fuelled scrambling ascent!. P.s my avatar is cairngorm weather station..
What a wonderful upload! I lived in Australia for twenty years. The only things I really missed about the U.K.? A decent pint and Scotland. Thanks Taylor.👍🏻
Awesome. We are blessed to be able to travel to such beautiful scenery. Thanks for bringing us your journey looks like you and your dad had a great time.
Done that and run into the sea at exactly the same point on the same beach. It’s one of the best places ever. I had a 400 mile trip home in the rain aqua planing past Arctic’s etc but would do it again in a heartbeat.
Wow, great film Taylor. Now at 8.08 you caught video of an alien salmon species! It's a type of Pacific salmon introduced by Russia into its northern rivers. Now as Times gone on they've migrated westwards hitting our rivers as early as 2015 according to some reports. Now I'm not sure if any have ever been filmed before but these days cameras are everywhere. Powers that be ask that all sightings are reported,so the species progress can be charted. Lovely vid tho thanks for taking us with you chap👍
Welcome to my neck of the woods. Best road in the uk for the bike is DAVA. Love it. I've got a heated summerhouse if you folks ever need to crash out for the night.
Absolutely epic, can't fault you Taylor it's amazing up there, rode around the Cairngorms 6 weeks ago with the Mrs, stayed in the middle of nowhere just outside of Edzell, heading to Dumfries in 2 weeks (annual trip for a bunch of us) for the weekend, and yeah......the rain, all part of it pal 😂😂 cheers for sharing appreciated as always 🙂👍
Been following your channel Taylor really enjoying it, have followed your dad for years coming from Stirling before I went to Canada for 26yrs now living back in Alloa, the mckenzie clan can be proud of all that you have achieved and your dad and mum can be rightly proud of how articulate you are, you have renewed my interest in bike racing
We were there just last week. MT10 and Street Triple on those roads were just amazing. We had no rain!! Great vid, it really is stunning and for us we'll worth the journey from Ashby. Cheers
We've just come back from Scotland. Amazing place, amazing people, scenery and roads. We had 9 days of England , Scotland & Wales. Can't wait to go back. Good video, thank you
:) Brought back so many memories of my 5 day 4000 km trip around the SE coastline of Australia (three day of which it was non stop rain) and wouldn't have changed a second of it. Glad to see you and ya Dad had a great time. :)
I would be in the Highlands 5 times a year on the bike. Tyndrum Inn is a great place to stay... Scotland never fails to surprise me with its beauty... Is it any wonder Scotland can provide so many fantastic road racers as the roads are fantastic.... The road from Inverness down to Fort William which hugs Loch Ness is scratchers paradise... Scotland the brave. Scotland the beautiful..
Just done the NC500 for the fourth time a few weeks ago, the route is epic, at the beginning of the vid you fuelled up at my local petrol Station in Dumbarton..
Good video, well put together Taylor. Done a lot of those roads myself in the past but time for another visit back home methinks after a John O Groats trip 2 years ago. Moved to Norfolk years ago and still miss the mountains and the fantastic riding choices.
Amazing video. So glad you and your dad had time to chill out and enjoy yourselves. I wouldn't be able to do that, I'm too old and stiff to cock my leg up that high over the saddle🤣
