This is the story of how I lost my appendix! It was a random evening where I had appendicitis and how I was rushed to hospital to have it surgically removed.

Just had surgery for acute appendicitis. It’s brutal. They gave me fetanyl, morphine, diladud, oxycodone, etc. I still felt extreme pain for the entire 14 hours they had me wait. Been laying in bed for two weeks and finally feeling better. Back to work tomorrow with 3 holes in my belly.

I had my first surgery for appendicitis and I felt okay and I went home the same day of surgery. At home I passed out several of times because I had like no food and one week went by and I had so much blood and it was so painful in my abdomen that I had to have another surgery to drain the blood and stop the bleeding and it has been a month and I’m still not fully recovered but almost there.

I got my appendix removed in 2017, it had ruptured due to the doctor claiming I was exaggerating, I spent 16 hours with no pain medication waiting; the next morning a surgeon came in, barely looked at me, and told the nurses to prepare me for surgery. After the surgery it took me 10 days in the hospital and a few checkups in the local clinic to get the stitches out. I’m fine and healthy today, I think, and wish a fast and healthy recovery to all of you.

Hello there! Thank you for talking about this! I got my appendix removed close to 10 weeks ago, and honestly; I’m still in recovery process. My abdomen still hurts, the area around my incisions, I get tired when I walk long distances, I have gained a little bit of weight (since I’m not exercising), and I don’t consider myself 💯 yet. I’m not talking about my insides but the top layers or abdomen walls. I just hope it’s all part of the healing process… But a little over 2 months? This is getting me tense, worries me at times, a bit anxious from time to time… I feel that now im getting headaches, breathing complications… I hope it’s all good! Im happy for y’all that had a smooth process of the whole thing… God bless you! 🙏

You gave a very good account of the before/surgery/after experience, I'm 4 days post op from a ruptured appendix, I had too have the drain tube left in my stomach for two days after surgery with a bag attached, I could watch the poisoned fluid leaving my body into the bag, made it really awkward too sleep, kept thinking I'd tear the stitching, I'm now home and recovering well but man I do not (and it won't happen again, it's not there 😂🤣) wanna go through that pain again, It amazes me that something so pointless in the body has the potential too kill you, crazy thought in hindsight, I was hours away from full sepsis setting in and Dr's said if I'd left it any longer I may not have been here or life would have been changed irreversibley, sobering thought. Well played on your recovery mate and great video 😎👍

Just had this op yesterday (Monday). I went in on the Friday and they wouldn't let me eat anything. until this morning Tuesday. No fluids either, only through a drip. Main thing re post op is not to be lifting things. My limit for the week is my light mac laptop. This will be the case for the next 3-4 weeks. No heavy lifting for 2 months. I also agree with you that the hardest thing to do is to get in and out of bed. I'll go and see a physio tomorrow to get advise on how to slowly strengthen myself and how to get in and out of bed !!!!!!! One thing I advise is if you think it's appendicitis, then call a doctor right away to check you and get him to write a referral letter to the hospital. Don't wait thinking it'll get better. At some stage it will feel like stomach pain, then cramps, then severe cramps, then it moves to you right side. This is when you need to start acting fast. Right, I'm off to take some more painkillers.

I had my appendix removed about 22 days ago! It's pretty similar to your story! Mine goes back to April, I went to the ER after spending 3 days with horrible pain on my right side, it even evolved to vomiting, there they just told me I had some constipation. Flash forward to September I started having the same pain around September 9th - I thought to myself "not again" - so I decided to take the medicine they had prescribed me back in April - something for the pain and to help with the gut flow - the days went by and the pain never disappeared even with the pain pills it only went mild and discomfort until the night of September 12th ... I had already maxed out the pills for the day so I couldn't take anymore, I didn't sleep that night with horrible pain that affected my entire right side down to m pelvis and even a bit of my back, then I started vomiting, around 7am I decided I needed to go to the ER... I spent all morning there and in the afternoon after the CT scan they told me it was most likely acute appendicitis and I had already some local peritonitis. I had a lap appendectomy that afternoon. I was extremely anxious for the surgery it was my first and hopefully last, I loved the anesthesia hahaha a peaceful sleep! The next day the doctor told me they also found some pus around it, and because of that, I spend an extra day in the hospital. The first days were painful, but I got to go home on the second day and still recovering! No longer in pain just some sharp moments around the scars! But to think that I could've just kept going with my pain pills and thinking it was constipation... it could've been way worse. Both episodes were on different hospitals, this time I asked my doctor if what I had in April could be linked and he said most likely because appendicitis tends to mimic other conditions.
@vladkras
@vladkras 2 года назад
Yeah I think it’s called chronic appendicitis, if I’m correct. I’ve had a similar issue, I think the right side has been bugging me for a while just not until 1 day where it was bad enough where I went to the hospital. However I didn’t get mine removed, I ran a course of antibiotics, and praying I don’t have to get surgery basically lol
@vladkras
@vladkras 2 года назад
@ITSVILA maybe. No way to know for sure. I’ve talked to people who took antibiotics and had to still do surgery after some time, and others who went almost a decade without and are still good. I just look at it - anyone can get appendicitis at any time for the first time, and I put myself into that group like I never got it before.

Dude you might not think so but you got off lightly. I had been visiting my GP for nearly a year with the same symptoms and ended up with a burst appendix, that was gangrenous, with post op complications, my incision is 200mm long, which opened up when they removed the staples and has had to heal from the inside out. That was 18 months ago and quite few visits to hospital during that time, massive impact on work and private life.

It's been 1 year since I had my appendix out. It was horrific, I thought I was having kidney stones. Worst pain I have ever felt in my life. My old boss was lucky enough to get the keyhole surgery but I had to be opened up because it completely perforated and my organs were covered in deadly bacteria. My fiance and the NHS saved my life that night. I'll never forget it... but to break the ice, this surgery sucks.. you can't sneeze, cough, laugh or fart. When I finally did it was like an orchestra 😂 also didn't go to the bathroom for 27 days because of all the morphine and codeine during the 6 week recovery.

My whole body ached (like arthritic pain) had a low grade fever, but the next day i felt a little better. Thank you for this upload, I've just had mine out. Went in yesterday thinking it was possibly appendicitis but probably just bad period cramps, 6 hours later I'm under the knife. At home now recovering and the pain is so much worse than it was in hospital. Very bad timing due to covid so I was rushed out, I'm feeling quite lost on what to do now I'm home, but this has really helped, thank you :)

Thank you. Last weekend, Saturday the 17th of July 2021 I had lunch and not long afterwards a sudden pain emerged right near my belly button. I thought it was indigestion. The pain spread to my right hand side. It's now Saturday the 24th and the pain hasn't disappeared. Despite taking something which has only temporarily eased the pain. I've struggled to get around all week and nights are the worst as no matter what side I sleep on the pain is more intense. Occasionally I've felt nauseous. I haven't got a fever. I'm bloated. I won't see a doctor unless it's absolutely necessary. I hope it isn't appendicitis Your blog has certainly helped me understand what having appendicitis is really like. Thanks

I drove myself to hospital at 2:30AM when I realised the pain was just getting worse and worse. Admittedly I ended up passing red traffic lights so I could get myself to hospital as fast as possible. There weren't any cars on the road though. But that puts into perspective how desperate I became to get help due to the pain being a solid 10/10. Morphine didn't even help. After my surgery the surgeon came and told me that my appendix were literally about to burst and had I not went to hospital when I did then it would have been a very different story

Had my mines January 5th this year. Worst pain I've had in a very long time... I was just leaving work, when I felt pain. At the time the pain scale was a 4. Around 1am I woke up, and the pain was unbearable! I was trying to get to my phone in the other room, but couldn't get up. I yelled out for my parents, because I stopped by their house to check on them. They couldn't hear me they was sleep. Around 3am my mother found me crawling asking for help to dail 911. I didn't feel a little better til the IV. Had CT scan they saw it and went to surgery. Stayed in the hospital for 3 days. And had to take 2 weeks off from work. My body was extremely sore after surgery.

I had abdominal pain last Friday, and saw my primary care doctor. She suspected I had appendicitis, so she advised I go to the hospital so I could get a CT scan and a blood test. Thank goodness I didn't have appendicitis, but I was in the hospital for hours, being put on an IV in case I DID have appendicitis. After getting out of the hospital, I was hungry enough to eat half of a sub from DiBella's. My maternal grandmother had a burst appendix in 1989 or 1990, and the site of the surgery wasn't pretty.

CT showed rupture,perforated appendix. I had a procedure w/a drain put in, in hospital for 4 days. All went ok, and surgery was scheduled for 6 weeks.

I am recovering myself from a Laparoscopic Appendectomy. I'm 61. I went from a normal day dog sitting my grand dogs at daughters home, then midday, started having pain in lower right abdomen. I went home in evening, still pain & discomfort. I went to bed, never slept. The next morning I called daughter asked her to take me to ER. After they triaged me, they confirmed it was my appendix. They later had me do a contrast Catscan. They said my appendix was rather large. They admitted me then spoke to surgeon. They got me into surgery around 8pm. They removed the appendix on left side like yours. This was March 30. I still have pain on left side, difficulty bending over have to take it easy 6-8wks . ( I also had 2 previous abdominal surgeries 1- C- section & 2-Hysterevtomy, so I had a lot of scar tissue to navigate through that the surgeon said was difficult to get my appendix out through)

Oh my G! I have this symptoms last Feb 14 and got my appendix removed by feb 15 but before that I thought I was just food poisoned. The mid section of my tummy really hurts so bad and I was puking all over the place up until I have nothing to puke anymore. So we went right away to the hospital because I easily get panicky when there is something wrong with my body. The doctors and nurses keep on asking if the pain is already on the right side of my tummy. Then right after that they scheduled the operation. The before and after of the operation is really where you suffer. I ask them where did I get that or how did it happen. But what did they mention was only there could be various of facts that could be the reason. After a week of the surgery everything goes back to normal.

I’m having mine removed on Tuesday. How long did the overall procedure take? How many weeks before you were fully recovered? I work on a cruise ship and mine started giving me problems just after New Years and we were doing the Antarctica route so luckily I was able to go to medical center on board our ship and the doctors were very helpful and once we were on land (Chile), I was able to go for a CT scan and I also had them inject me with Contrast which you mentioned makes your body hot. Your story is very similar to mine except with me, the first morning I couldn’t sleep properly and was in pain, I went straight to the doctor and I remember saying to the nurses “I know my body and this is not normal”. According to them I was very lucky to have listened to my body and reported it immediately. Interesting and informative video

I just had mine done yesterday. The pain for me in unbearable with the gas that’s what the most painful for me. I only have 3 incisions on in my belly buttoning to the left and down in the middle of my pelvis. My story is I was feeling a small irritation on my left side didn’t think to much of it, then it moved to my belly and lower right side but I only felt this when I went to a convenience store on Friday after work.( i was fine all day) but the pain was sharp enough to make me feel something was terribly wrong. I went hospital. And they found out my WBC where slightly elevated, just slightly not enough to worry them. But they kept me under observation and for me the pain remained the same. They didn’t know wether this was gynecological or my appendix and even time they tapped on my right aid the pain was bad. Even an ultrasound didn’t show it was an appendicitis but it didn’t say it wasn’t. Yesterday I went in theater I cnt remember going to sleep all I remember was crying all the way to the operating room. And waking up in the room they got me ready in. But not the pain of the gas is super painful. Getting out of bed makes me hurt a lot. They had to put a commodity toilet so that I won’t walk to toilet cus I fainted. But now I’m able to. To pass urine hurts a bit I have had any bowl movement as on yet just passing gas(how embarrassing 😳) But I’m on the road to recovery. In pain and still at hospital. Oh I was also not allowed to eat of drink. I was on the IV fluid until today. That was 4 days no food or water. Anyway I’m alive and it turned out that even thought my blood and urine and heart rate didn’t show my appendix was bad it turned out it was quite inflamed and my body was trying to hide it.😟

Bro I just had my appendix removed last week. You’re story was similar to mine but I woke up one day felt pain in my stomach didn’t pay too much attention to it started working on my car. 1 hour went by and it got so bad to where I couldn’t walk, then I started vomiting because I had took some pepto bismo to see if that would work. Had my moms rush me to the hospital in crazy pains. Moms immediately knew what it was cause of the way I was yelling plus years ago she had hers removed. Got to the hospital and they said it is inflamed and causing infections. This is the kicker though that I think irritated my appendix. I had tostitos cheese dip, tostitos salsa chips and a Pepsi right before I fell asleep. I eat a lot of cheesy foods so 9/10 I’m assuming I kept getting it blocked by cheese and it was causing excruciating pains. You’re right getting out of bed was the hardest part but the couch is a mans best friend for the first 3-6 days. Just use mountain of pillows to lay back on. I been eating fruits and drinking plenty of water but I had to eat a lot of light foods cause the first few days I couldn’t go number 2. Had surgery that morning ate dinner that night after the drugs left my system. They put a tube down your throat while you sleep when you wake up you immediately feel that. I hope I heal correctly to do all the lifting and eating I usually have done for the past 25 years. Oh and try not to laugh, sneeze or cough OMFG IT HURTS GUYS AND GALS PLZ hold a pillow on your stomach if you do
