I've watched a few popular hoof trimmers.....they're all qualified and caring, but I really love your channel because it is so calming, direct, and focused on the work. Others seem to hack away at the hoof and while I'm sure they're very professional, I just really appreciate your knife work. I've worked in veterinary settings and came to know different vets this way in the surgical room: everyone very qualified, but some just had that special touch. Nate, you have that special touch. I love it! So that's what it sounds like when cows lie about how cute a newborn is! That heel, though---I feel such sympathy for the cow. I've had some ugly, bloody blisters in my time, always from shoes that didn't fit right and long days when I couldn't take them off. Poor girl. She will feel better in no time now that the fluid has been released and she has been wrapped. Thanks, Nate!

I could tell she was moving her foot as much as she could. Sometimes when we treat animals for a problem whether pets or livestock we have to work through the hurty part to fix the problem.

Hey Nate, first as always you do amazing work and it’s satisfying to see the cows walk away happy! Secondly I got a question for you regarding the heel bulb area you were working on in this video. At what point does it stop being hoof and start to become hide (skin? Idk the terms) and have you ever made the mistake of cutting too far and into the hide? I also notice that the heel bulb section is always a lot less firm than the rest of the hoof, even though to my untrained eye it seems to be the same tissue as the outer wall horn? And again, top quality work! From the treatment to the video!

I came, I saw, I was fascinated, and I was grossed out. Mission accomplished!

When I was a kid we had around twenty head of cattle 50/50 mothers and steers and when the mothers went to calf they would somehow disappear within the eighty acres or so of pasture and some wooded area. I could look for them all day and find nothing until a few days would pass, and they'd come out of hiding with their new calfs and show them off to the herd. Amazing that they could do that again and again.

This was hard for me to watch only because it made me want to cry seeing and hearing the cow moo in pain at the beginning. But I do know you helped her so that her hoof heals and she is able to get to feeling comfortable again. I am truly grateful you were gentle with her and helped her out as you are a professional. Thank you for your extended explanation. I did notice as you were cleaning, there was a small area on the top right that you touched with your hands and it was very thin and soft. Why was that left as you usually trim soft sole. I love cows but not as knowledgeable as you. Thanks for the baby calf so sweet.❣️🦋❣️🐾🥰

There are other hoof-trimmer RU-vidrs who just seem to quickly hack away at the hooves and don't want to go slowly and take their time on delicate cases like this. Bovine Pedicures, fascinating viewing …

I've been wondering how much harder to cut the more flexible horn on the back of the heel is? How do you balance force used and delicacy? It must have taken so much practice!

This looks like a really tough and delicate one to do. At 04:39 you can see how careful Nate is when he doesn't just continue pushing with the blade cause it could have made contact with the live tissue, he re-adjusted the angle and the grip for avoiding damaging the corium. Great job. I am so glad to see this channel growing too.
