Watching her test that foot as she left the chute and realizing she felt better was great to see. That poor toe must have been awful for her, thanks so much for giving her the treatment she needed!
@@ronaldshepherd5992 I'm no expert but if I remember correctly, when Nate sees an issue like that he'll leave it without a block if both issues are minimal, and if they're severe the cow will be put in an indoor pen of hay to recover where she can lay down without issues. That's from pretty old memories though so I'm not confident in my correctness.
@@thomashansen440Go to a podiatrist! Just make sure you go to one that puts numbing solution on first, before they give you the shot to numb the toe! Definitely makes a difference!
I stubbed one of my toes badly and tore the nail on the quick. I had to cut the torn part off so it didnt snag. There was some blood. I announced "augh, I nicked my corium!" And my spouse goes "you are watching way too much nate the hoof guy!"
Nate, I don't know if you read these or not but I got to say man, I love your videos. I know you've voiced concerns a bit about the ambient noise but that is NOT an issue at all. I think I speak for *most* of your viewers when I say we kind of really enjoy it. The moo'ing, the dogs barking, back-up beepers on equipment... the LIFE on a farm. Young cows, old cows, farmers and pets...it's what a large majority of us grew up with or deal with on the daily!! Love your stuff man!! Have a great weekend!!
@@lilme7052you gotta make a living somehow, or do you think in this heartless world that the grocery store and government will accept “But I trimmed a cow’s hooves for free” as payment? You rather he be homeless and unable to care for these animals welfare?
I think that's the most blood we've seen in one of your videos so far, so I see what you mean when you say that area is tricky. I was not even expecting the corium to be there when you made that particular cut. I hope she recovers swiftly!
Nate your explanation of the procedures is always easy to follow even for someone that has no idea about hoof anatomy! The other “big” known hoof trimmers across the pond are so full of hype and product sales I mute them and forward through 1/3 of their videos. Not yours, I watch them from start to finish! Thanks for sharing!!!
Yes, I actually just got suggested one and I tried to watch it, I literally fast forward halfway through the video until I even saw a cow! I also don't like the way that they handle their hoof trimming...... They're rough with it and they don't care about the pain that the cow feels as much as Nate does
@@CharmagnCody-mw6zrexactly! There's no need to be super rough, it's not like it makes the trim any faster or easier anyway (visually it looks like it makes it harder tbh)
Nice to hear other folks with my same complains about that UK trimmer. I am not interested in his expensive cars, large fancy home remodels, huge garage, drone footage, or seeing his wife before her coffee. Got to wait halfway through the video to see a cow. I first started out with him, but since I found Nate, I no longer even bother to watch him, no matter how interesting the hoof problem might be. Thank you, Nate! Yes, I'm a member now.
👏👏👏 I say it every time, but I love the ‘pop’. I trod on a rusty nail once as a child that caused an abscess in my foot and the pain was excruciating. (Not to mention how a nasty infection can make you feel quite feverish and poorly all over.) Every time one of these white line abscesses is opened up, I can practically feel the relief it must give the poor cow❣️
You can tell how much care you put into each trim, especially when a cow has a painful situation like this. Your channel is a pleasure to watch because of your gentle care. Thank you!
Your job is making Bossy feel better, not cinematography, you'll never see me complain about getting your hand in the way of the camera if the lady walks away without pain🤠👍👍 BTW i grew up on a cow/calf beef farm, then went on to serve as an animal health technician in the USArmy so i do understand your work better than most, also salicylic acid is very closely related to asprin so yeah big time pain relief
After binging hours of true crime podcast, this girl unwinds from the mayhem with you, Nate. I have fallen asleep to these videos. I even became a member this week, I love your channel so much. Thanks for being the calm in this crazy social media space.😊😮
I’ve never even thought about how much more difficult that having to avoid being in the path of the camera must make some of these trims. Awesome work as always and truly a pleasure to watch.
Bless her, that relief must be amazing. I remember years ago I'd had a filling done at my dentist and after a few weeks it went bad, I had to go to an emergency dentist who said "I can only drill out the filling", which she did and omg the pressure going was so good!
If you didn't know that there are other hoof trimmers that are not as well liked bc they give too much personal info, this seems like such an insult 😂 Nate's audience gets it though!
I’ve been with you since the near beginning…still have a lovely boho journal that I won in one of your games…never miss any of your videos…you are so real and down to earth and funny…I find listening and watching you relaxes me so nicely…even go back and watch some of your golden oldies…lol…keep plugging along like we all do…hugs…
I totally agree. If you end up blocking the view of your video for a little bit, because you are doing the best job that you can for that cow, more power to you! The cow has to come first. Yes, you are getting paid for what you are doing, but in a way the cow is the client. They are the one that needs professional help. Thank God there are people like you who can help these poor animals with their infected hooves. I can’t imagine the pain they are experiencing, so a big thank you for what you are doing to make their life more comfortable and pain-free! 🤗💕
Mr. Nate your videos are so soothing and so educational. I enjoy just listening to how you explain everything. And you are so gentle with the cows.. I really admire and appreciate what you do. Blessings to you always for taking such great care of the cows..
It makes me happy to know there are people out there like you who do help make sure these cows get the hoof care they need and that there are farmers who care enough about their cows to ensure they get this care. Something that may seem so simple to some people undoubtedly makes a big difference for her and her quality of life. No one wants to go walking around all day with their foot like that.
I really appreciate how much you care about the cows. You are really sweet to them. I love that you care about their pain and comfort level and how you do all that you possibly can to help them and alleviate their foot pain.
I grew up in cornwall before i moved here ( spain ) and some of the farmers had lame cows all the time and never bothered treating them. Nudging them to go faster when the poor things were in agony walking to the parlour. I hated seeing them in such oain because cows are lovely and give us so much.
Nate and The Hoof GP are awesome to watch. They care so much about the animals and do masterful work. If an MD did this kind of work, they'd charge at least $1000 per foot.
The Hoof GP is awful. His videos are a manufactured drama production and his trims are hack jobs. Not to mention it's suspicious how he always seems to get really bad cases... Almost like it's all staged.
One thing I appreciate about you is how much you truly care for the well being of these cows. ❤ Question: What are the blocks made of, and do they get thrown out after use?
The blocks are usually rubber, & sometimes wood. As far as disposal goes, I'm guessing the wooden blocks would go out with the used straw/wood chips. No idea how the rubber blocks are discarded.
God every time I watch one of your videos I’m shocked at how the cows had to deal with this. It always seems to look worse than I expect it to. You’re doing amazing work, Nate.
These animals are bred non stop to keep producing milk and never raise their calf’s. They are a product on a conveyor belt of dairy. Nate at least gives them individual attention and eliminates what must feel like torture until the infection is removed. ❤
You are so gentle and careful with the cows you take care of I really appreciate that even though she’s a cow and people might not think much of how cows feel
I'm surprised! I think that's actually the most bleeding I've seen EVER from one of his trims, I'm not even sure if it was from nicking or of the corium was just that inflamed and upset
Hi Nate I have a lot of questions, i skipped these at first because it just seemed so painful but I’m getting used to seeing and can observe what you do more, and now i have a lot of questions. How do you know how far you can go? Is she scared? What kind of farm is this? Do all farms do this? Does she show gratitude after? Not that she has to lol Can you do a walk through of hoof anatomy with a diagram so we understand better? No worries if you don’t answer these, your work is more important!!
Excellent idea! When I was a kid, I got to spend a week on a PA dairy farm - my partly Amish aunt and uncle. I will never forget each cow finding its own stall, the wholesome, natural barn smells, and the mellow sounds. My uncle had a barn cat that would wait for him to spray a stream of milk from a teat all the way to the barn door. Cat caught it right in its mouth. Sign me up for a jar of that farm smells stuff.
Nate, the cow hero! I bet the relief for your patients get must be akin to the relief humans get when they have an ingrown toenail. And the only reason the toe bled is because of the horn jabbing into the corium.
Do you know what I watch your videos quite a lot of the time and it is really good to see that these poor cow's do end up getting some relief because they can't talk to us and it is really really good Chester know that they are not not in pain or discomfort anymore
Got the first part, of the cow not wanting to put pressure on the hoof. Second stage, on rocking back on the foot was interesting. Looked like the hoof had tried to heal, but the toe problem created yet another layer below. Nice fix.
That's probably one of the bloodiest hoof treatments I've seen on this channel, and it was probably only a few drops, blood always looks worse and more than it really is. That's really saying something about your skill.
Beautiful work. She was trembling with the pain at first, but you worked to her pace and place of co.fort, addressing the problem with the greatest of economy and compassion. So much relief for that cow, she was calm as, well done. ❤
I sincerely look forward to Fridays and a new video! Thank you so much for sharing such great videos with us! Please tell me, you are so completely, do you ever talk to the cows as you work on them?
