Due to PATS not being enabled on the Hydra tunes, the truck didn't want to start. Just a heads up for everyone, disconnecting the green PATS connector above the accelerator pedal will not fix the problem.
Thanks for these great videos. I'll be doing many of the same stuff to my Excursion this winter so it'll be a great help. I noticed your Craftsman scan tool. How well does it work with the Excursion? Does it work with all modules, and can it do any programming / changes?
With the way you describe it, I've seen a few cars that the keys unprogram oldly, all the cars that did that would start for one second then turn off. Also if you tried for a long time it would crank as you are doing in the video. I would try the spare key if that helps.
I noticed around the 5:40 and after mark (until you you unplugged the chip) you were not not showing a rpm increase on the tach, just sitting at 0 rpm Fyi: when you install the chip into the pcm you have to make sure the contacts on the pcm are spotlessly clean (use mild scotchbrite and electrical contact cleaner) otherwise only certain settings on the chip may work or it may be a complete no start at all as well
When you replace the injectors all the fuel and oil in the heads drains out so just running the lift pump doesn’t fill the heads with oil and you have to crank it forever to fill it back up
My 2001 Ford excursion battery died so I jumped it with my car but I had no KEY'S in the ignition and the excursion tries to START on its own with no keys in the ignition WTF....PLEASE HELP
Hey Daniel: You use your iPhone for most videos, don’t you? I have an 8 Plus which I bought for its video capabilities, but the audio is so hushed and muted especially when I’m talking that it’s almost unusable. How is your audio so much better? Do you adjust the gain in post or is there something else I’m missing?
Finn Campeau - I’ve tried going the external mic route, but the whole apparatus that something like that requires kinda defeats the pocketable nature of a smartphone camera. It’d be like using an external mic with a point-and-shoot. It’s not that hard to raise the gain in post, but it’s an extra step that’s kinda annoying and I don’t know why only my particular iPhone seems to do this. Maybe it’s defective lol
That's a good way to destroy the ecu's in all 3 vehicles. Jump starting modern vehicles isn't like it used to be. You can easily damage the capacitors along with other electrical components. Signs of the damage may not show up for a year down the road. Not a good idea, especially the way you did it.
The reason why my 7.3 Excursion has never seen a chip or turner or... 265,000 miles. Never a problem. I never screwed with it. Oil changes. Coolant changes. An alternator about every 110,000 miles.
@@billmalec Ok thanks! That sounds like a good deal! And it only takes 10-15 minutes to change it! I keep a spare powermaster in the back of my ex. Easy enough to swap out on the side of the road
Yooouu don’t neeeeed a starter. I’m more concerned about clicking on a vidya that says “problems starting an excursion” and nowhere in the video involved that 7.3 sucking down half a can of ether. #reported
