Mace windu in my opinion is the worst jedi EVER Let me explain!

What's bad is I honestly think mace could have trained anakin better than obi-wan. Baser on the sole fact that the council didn't see obiwan fit for jedi knight just yet

I admit, I like Mace based on some of character traits. However, I only have reasonable disdain for him for not giving Anakin the approval, encouragement, and support that he needed. But if there's anyone to blame, it would arguably be Yoda. What Yoda passed on to others was definitely passed on to Mace. Mace is merely an extension of Yoda's flawed teachings. But to end on a neutral note, nothing and no one is perfect.

Before Anakin was discovered Mace was considered the chosen one so he's always got a chip on his shoulder for Anakin showing up. In the recent shows it was shown he got his spot on the council by actively ignoring injustice and side with senate. Total dick he was.

He thought of himself as chosen one if I remember correctly before Anakin showed up, it also gives even more hipocracy when he tells Dooku, that Jedi are guided by their Council and not by politics or ego.

If I remember right Mace Windu's fighting style is called vapaad. Which is basically supposed to be when a force user can keep the light and dark sides of the force in perfect balance but never falling to the dark side. For one thing it requires the user to enjoy the thrill of battle. The weird bit is the form is so difficult to master that every jedi that has used it barring Mace has fallen to dark side. Which means Mace must have either god tier mastery of the force or the writers give him way more credit than he might actually deserve

He gets more credit than he deserves in my opinion, but he does have some dope ass moments like crushing grevious and beating palpatine in their Duel in the office

Mace Windu invented that lightsaber combat form, which is an impressive accomplishment. There is a strong irony is mr by the book inventing a lightsaber combat form which veers so closely to the dark side though. The theory behind it makes sense, but considering how everyone else who attempted to master it went to the dark side, it perhaps might have needed more fine tuning before being taught to anyone.

@@BladeEdge86 Dooku claims to have mastered the form and says the key is to fully commit to the dark side. Which again is kind of odd considering he seems to hold the dark side at arms length. He rarely uses his Sith title Darth tyrannus(I mean come on that's an awesome name why you not wanna use it?) and he never shows the sith eyes or grey skin. Unless he was wearing a force glamor like Sidious to disguise his Sith nature

Even though you're by far one of the greatest jedi's around, I'm gonna have you sit here while me and these 3 worthless jedis go and try to take a powerful sith lord down. I mean, they can't die on me within the first 5 seconds; they're jedi's.

Windu literally said why Anakin should stay at the temple, they didn’t know how powerful palpatine really was, also saying Fisto, Kolar and Tin are worthless is dumb on you’re part also the force scream palpatine used was a main reason they died so early

Oh and he apparently uses and ability called Vapaad to use his own darkside energy into something positive when facing against Dark Side Users while using the Dark Side User’s dark energy against them mid Lightsaber clash. If only Mace taught this to Anakin and Obi Wan but, given his refusal to teach Quinlan Vis given how dangerously close to the Dark Side he was according to Mace. I’d imagine he’d be even less inclined to teach such an ability to Anakin and Oni Wan given Mace’s fear of bringing people to the Dark Side Witt such a technique.

Yea I've known about vaapad, it's a super awesome feat he has but like you said and someone else commented it was dangerous for other people to learn it. It's also how I think he won against palpatine

to be fair to the guy, his success rate at accidentally creating Dark Jedi with the technique is 100% at this point. I think there's a point you have to decide to maybe not continue to decimate your own order teaching that lightsaber form. It's a credit to him that he can use it successfully, but he appears to be one in ten thousand, and I doubt Anakin would have been able to cope with it, while Obi-wan might refuse it entirely.

Yes Windu didn’t want to teach Vos because of fear of Vos falling to the dark side like Depa and Sora bulq did teaching that to Anakin at his age were Anakins dark side and arrogance were high would be disastrous

0:10 Well to be fair, I kind of agree with him on that stuff. If you’re familiar with Mace Windu’s Shatter Point ability. He can definitely see bigger pictures to an extent; but, given the dogmatic views of the Jedi and his feelings for Dooku, which according to the books Windu could’ve killed to stop the war etc… He would’ve been more formidable. There’s even a What iF Mace Windu senses Anakin’s betrayal via his Shatter Point ability.

@@StarWarsNerd00 When Tarkin blew up Lieas planet 😑 that's when the decline of the Empire started arguably because of how brash he was...the destruction of Alderaan made the rebels attack more quickly in response...The rebels spreaded out too making it hard for them all to be destroyed all at once like on Alderaan....Tarkins incompetence had the Empire doomed after that...

Yoda AND Mace are the reason the chosen one went to the dark side damaged as hell They where supposed to be his teachers not obi-wan. Anikan tried to do everything right even proved his loyalty telling them palpatine was the Sith Lord.

Obi wan did the best he could, but Anakin needed a father figure (yes I know in AOTC he says obi is the closest thing he has to a father) but Plo Koon, Kit Fisto Mace and Yoda would have been the best substitute for Qui-Gon Jin

@@constantinebodien1887 Dooku would have been the 2nd best master for Anakin, the first being Qui Gon. But, Qui Gon died and Dooku turned to the dark side. Plo Koon also would have been a good choice though.

Watching ROTS now, Palpatine was right. The Jedi were dogmatic and did hold the Chosen One back from fulfilling the prophecy. If only The Council listened to Master Jinn and many other Jedi who supported Anakin.

The thing with fans is that they only watch the shows and movies but don’t go in depth with characters, yes Windu distrusts Anakin because Anakin shows signs of the dark side Windu was also a skeptic of prophecies so yes he doubt Anakin might be the chosen one, he ignites his saber against Jango and Dooku because I’d be foolish to not have your weapon ready plus Jango already proved himself to be dangerous and against Palpatine because he was the Sith, sure he didn’t share info with Ahsoka but that’s because he’s a citizen something even ahsoka called herself in the scene, he had no faith in R2 yes who wouldn’t you barely knew anything about R2, he didn’t deny Dooku a spot on the council Windu wasn’t even on the council, also remeber not giving Anakin the rank of master is a council decision Windu was just the one to say it, also the council didn’t send Qui Gon to fight a Sith and Windu said he doesn’t believe Dooku would kill because he held high respect for Dooku and him igniting his saber against palpatine you gotta remeber the council was already getting suspicious of palpatine Anakin revealing palpatine as a Sith was the nail in the coffin, the actions Windu had always had reason behind them when Anakin told him about palpatine in the novel for ROTS Windu realized at that moment everything they fought for was for nothing and with Windu before hand saying he senses a plot to destroy the Jedi he had to act fast if the Sith finally revealed himself

@Lieutenantprism213 don't go in depth? Homie every time I make one of these I do like 3 days worth of research on the topic lol. You're right about mace not denying the spot to dooku upon rewatch I misinterpreted the scene, mace just made the argument he was following orders. It still doesn't make sense that any of the jedi held the chosen one back in any capacity. As mundi said in the 03 micro series "why do we hold back the chosen one in these times of need" so not everyone on the council was skeptical of anakin, most were but he had his fair share of supporters. As for the rank of master for anakin, why wouldn't the grand master deny anakin? Yoda wasn't off world yet. And mace still tried to take the prophecy of the chosen one into his own hands

I never understood what the hype was around Windu. I only know him from the prequel movies. He seemed to have this aura of intensly suppressed anger around him... Maybe it was just RBF. Also, I don't think SL.J was the right casting for that roll. I think playing a calm, stoic space monk is quite a bit to far out of his range.

He had the darkside within in, he developed a form of lightsaber combat called vaapad where he could tap into the darkside and reciprocate it upon another darkside user so that probably explains why he was always angry but in the rots novel anakin and obi wan talk about him and he says maybe mace is jealous because until I came around he was the youngest person on the council

Also funny that Windu pushes the fact that a Jedi should be emotionless and should suppress emotional attachments When he literally uses the dark side as a way to fight opponents, which by the way, requires one to tap into their emotions deeply Just found that kind of ironic that’s all

@@StarWarsNerd00which is why this further leads me to believe that his vapaad ability is in legends and not canon in my opinion What really happened is Palpatine let Windu win in order to manipulate Anakin to the dark side and make it look like the Jedi were evil and are afraid to lose their power. As for the purple saber, Samuel Jackson just wanted a purple saber 😂

As for the purple saber.....the back story is hilarious 😂 but I like the idea of certain jedi being within both sides of the force and obtaining a purple crystal

Mace believes that *he* is the chosen one and Anakin is a false interpretation of the prophecy. If they had listened to Mace, Siddious would be dead, but Anakin saved Siddious from Mace Windu.

He wasn't a very good Jedi master ('good' in the sense that he wasn't good at being a Jedi, let alone a master). He was not measured or thoughtful, was a brute during the Clone Wars, and was willing to break with the Jedi way by not detaining Sidious and opting to execute him on the spot. It's almost like he had a chip on his shoulder against Anakin, which fueled the young Jedi's animosity towards him, and the Jedi. His padawan, Depa Billaba, believed that the Jedi Order made a crucial error in taking military titles during the Clone Wars, Windu didn't agree with her. Billaba protested to Windu the irony that a noble, peace-loving order like the Jedi were now military leaders in a galaxy-wide conflict. He would have none of it. In short, Windu was a dick. At the battle of Geonosis, he killed Jango in front of his son. Yes, there were Jedi that were bad at being Jedi. Along with several other bad Jedi, (looking at you, Bariss) he contributed to the Order's downfall.

When it comes to Windu wanting to kill palpatine remeber Windu was there to arrest palpatine but guess what palpatine did he attacked Windu and killed 3 of Windus friend in front of him even after defeating palpatine he was still willing to arrest him but palatine yet again attacked Windu so why would Windu try to arrest him a third time Windu wasn’t a dick people believe he is because they like Jedi like Anakin Plo and ahsoka more and whenever they but heads it nature to side with the one you like more

10:53 You do realize that image could have been in error (miscoloring a lightsaber or two), right? After all, there are 12 Jedi in that circle (13 if you include Anakin), and I'm pretty sure that non-council members wouldn't be allowed in said knighting ceremony with the sole exception of the jedi who was being promoted to knighthood. Sure Mace was an asshole in many respects, but a lot of your arguments seem to be rather nitpicky. And no, just letting Anakin "be Anakin" would NOT have ended well for anyone. In fact, it likely would have resulted in things escalating even faster and worse than they already were.

I have seen the comments about it being an error lolol, and yea most of my points are nitpicking (still working on my style for these videos) even if letting anakin be anakin escalated things mace still didn't have to put him down for 13 years. Alright he looked at Obie like that because Obie straight up lied Anakin never followed orders and just did what he thought was best which in Maces eyes is failing. I'm not an Anakin supporter but every character is flawed they all agree'd with Mace and let everything that happened happen he was just the one put in the front.

@StarWarsNerd00 I'm just talking about from the point of view from the Judi. The Judi are strict, no nonsense kinda group if they say do something this way and you do it another they'll be mad even if it works. Anakin might not have disappointed Obie himself, but in maces eyes, he does because he never listened or acted like a jedi. Jedi are supposed to be without emotion and act purely on logic, though even the jedi don't follow their own orders because they're complacent hypocrites, which is fine for realistic characters. I say this because a logical person knows you can't remove all emotions and still consider yourself logical because without emotion, you lose drive like they did, and without emotions, you lack understanding of those you're protecting and those you could save. Aka Anakin, if they just understood where he's coming from and listened, instead of trying to change him and suppress not only his fear of losing a loved one they could of saved his mother and his wife, they could have avoided this problem altogether but they tried to be Emotionless zombies and now they're actually dead.

@masterofdisguise1112 but why? If literally anyone had shown anakin the same respect qui gon did, things would have been so different. Mace just had a chip on his shoulder because before anakin he was the top dog once anakin came and questioned authority is when he got worse towards him

Thanks! He certainly has his moments of greatness (both from the micro series and the 08 clone wars) but overall he's my least favorite jedi and as I stated "the worst"
