But you can tell when he has his private discussions with Hughie or butcher that the amount of years he’s spent isolated and tortured really has changed him for the better and let him think a lot of things over. He has a lot of growth and it shows the most when after he tells butcher what his father thought of him, then confronts homelander with the team, has a small heart to heart and admits to him that he’s a disappointment just like he was because he sees more of his old self in him

@@edcf1807Soldier Boy isn’t exactly evil. He is a bastard that’s for sure, although he cares for human life and doesn’t want to hurt any innocents without good reason. Homelander on the other hand loves to watch people suffer and is just a bully and gets a thrill off of it. I think Solider Boy being experimented and tortured by the Russians for about 40 years made him realize who he was in the 80s and before. His father was right, he was a disappointment…not just to his father, but to himself, his son and grandson while also America. He became a better person throughout the torture..he is still a prick but not as much as one before.

@@nolanpearce2978 soldier boy is one of my favorite characters from the series but i gotta be real, i don't think he is just a prick, he is evil, not like Homelander, of course not, but you don't have to be THAT evil to be consider evil, they are different evils. He was an abuser, he continously beat up and bullied his team (which included teens) just because they would object him, then when they (reasonably) betray him, he KILLED them all, and brutaly may i add, this is like if you manage to sent an abusive father to jail and then he returns to kill you, that is beyond being just a prick and also to top it all of, he had NO QUALMS with killing a literal kid HIS GRANDSON. I love soldier boy, but the fandom forgets that just because he's cool and oldschool mannered doesn't excent him from being a clear villian.
