I love how the power shifts. Homelander goes in there like he owns the place, Stan lets him speak, then just matter-of-factly busts him down and takes complete control.

"What we are really is a pharmaceutical company." This really is Gus Fring in an alternate universe.

Homelander: “ I’m gonna go and make things clear to the company”. Homelander leaves the company with things made clear to him.

"You are not our most valuable asset. You are our most valuable problem" 😂😂 imagine he said that

I love when he takes off his glasses before his speech. Such a 'you are beneath me' move.

Homelander: *I’m gonna threaten this guy, I bet he’s gonna freak out!* Stan Edgar: 🗿

Homelander: You beat me at my own game Stan: You weren't even a player

Anthony starr's portrayal of the character is masterful. Bullies push until they meet genuine resistence. If you give in you embolden them.

"No, no, Stan. I _am_ Vought." You cannot get that arrogant with a Giancarlo Esposito character and get away with it. Perfect casting for Stan.

“Manchild that you are…” I love how Edgar lasers down Homelander with just words.

He's not standing up to Homelander, he's looking down on him.

One of my favorite scenes of the series. Two absolutely GENIUS actors in character. The way Esposito played Stan in that one moment, pausing before stopping. Capturing how much of a literal genius/prodigy (and sociopath) Stan Edgar was that he was running through a million different machinations before deciding the correct way HE WANTED to crush Homeland's entire perception of the company and his place, while simultaneously capturing a brief probe into 'what side' Homelander was on with Stormfront and what, if anything, he knew about her. Just genius!

Stan really is one of my favorite characters on the show. I like that he isn’t overused but when he does show up he is amazing.

Giancarlo is one of the best villain actors of all time. It’s not even a debate.

THIS is HOW you do a menacing villain. No screams, no shouts, just a calm demeanor with a firm tone of voice explaining to the "hero" that he's just a pretender.

Man really stared homelander straight in the eye and called him a manchild without even hesitating nor flinching. Cold.

Giancarlo Esposito is such a phenomenal actor. He's intimidation incarnate. Gus just put Homelander in his place without breaking a sweat. No adrenaline for him to smell. No rapid heart beat.

If you look closely at 3:40 you can see homelander flinch a bit seeing his intimidation tactic didn't work

- You are _not_ our most valuable asset. That would be the evil mastermind known as Heisenberg, the man who perfected the Compound V and now produces it for us with a purity rate of 99,1%.

I just like how homelander acts like a manchild. These actors deserves an award for their brilliant performances.

I love the silence at 1:20 where Homelander sits there, smug, thinking "Ha! Gotcha. You don't know what to say" whilst Edgar is just gathering himself to cash the largest reality check with Homelanders name on it.

Wow, can't believe Gus had such a change of heart in his career path. Ventured towards new beginnings and wanted to make a difference and right his wrongs. Truly wholesome.

Ive never seen a scene that so perfectly captures the difference between confidence and arrogance quite like this one

His heart literally doesn't skip a beat when talking to Homelander in the comics

One slight detail I like is how at first homelander tries to show that he is in control by putting his feet on the table, but as the conversation goes on and Edgar calls him out on releasing Compound V, he flinches and takes his feet of the table. Showing he lost his edge in the conflict

The CEO is great actor. This scene is a brilliant demonstration of power play. Amazing writing and acting.

I like the way Giancarlo pronounces “Confidential” as if he could not stress it enough that it’s supposed to be kept a secret.

Giancarlo Esposito is so elegantly ruthless in every role he takes on. A truly gifted actor.

I like Stan’s deep settled smile throughout this scene. He knows he had homelander the moment he tried to challenge Stan.

Only gus fring could tuck homelander up in bed like that

Stan standing up to homelander is like one of those guys who don't flinch when an elephant or gorilla charges at them. He created doubt in homelanders mind.

Loved this scene, finally seeing homelander being put in his place.

When homelander realised that none of his powers could be used to make Stan Edgar be wrong he saw what real power was.

The most intimidating thing to a bully is the knowledge that you aren't at all afraid of them. This scene is a perfect representation of that.

Note when Homelander got in his face, Stan didn't even blink. This is a great example of the word being mightier than the sword.

Can we take a moment to appreciate the emphasis on “human” @2:14? Even this early into the lecture, Stan’s already dragging Homelander back down to reality: he started as a human too.

You can tell the exact moment Stan stopped kidding around. When Homelander first walks in, Stan is all smiles and praise. When Homelander threatened to "move on", however, Stan's face could have been carved out of ice.

Love how homelander harps about people always lying to him, yet this scene is one of the only times I can think of where people were truly being honest with him, AND IT INFURIATES HIM

You know what occurred to me with this scene? "Don't you have a premier of 'Techknight Lives' to go to?" Knowledge in and of itself is power. And just that little minute detail of Edgar calling the movie by its title helps that thought process. Homelander is beneath him, but Edgar still knows all he needs to know about Homelander

What a position of power from Stan. Love that scene! We can learn a lot from his body language and the way he talks - so relaxed and calm, even when faced with potential problem.

What i love about Giancarlo Esposito is the way he acts his menacing roles. He isn’t physically intimidating (no muscular physique), He doesn’t boast a massive intellect (while still having one), He doesn’t shout or yell or use swearwords. He simply starts off with a regular amount of respectful language and voice tone but when the situation turns, his face turns cold and then he; remains quiet/starts talking/ becomes more confrontational only when necessary. He truly is a great actor! 👏🏻

The writers behind this scene know how companies work better than most managers I've known.

Edgar: “Any superhero who has to say ‘I am Vought’ is not truly Vought.”

Billy Butcher: "You just sent the most powerful man in the world to bed without his supper." Stan Edgar: "You're a fool if you believe he's the most powerful man in the world."

This was the first scene I stumbled upon before ever knowing anything about "The Boys." From there it was history, I found the show and binged it. These two great actors in the same scene, brilliant. I'll admit, Homelander looked very familiar, I started digging fast and was reminded of his awesome role in Banshee; it's literally the human version of Homelander.

With every scene Homelander is in he brings in a cloud of absolute terror; no one ever knowing what he's going to do next. Everyone in the room and audience feels it. But not here. The terror just falls flat here, and Homelander knows it.

Both actors played their roles masterfully and made this scene iconic!

I love how he references Disney and Edison. Two masterful businessmen that did some horrendous things but the self serving history books look back fondly on.

0:34 love this line from Stan especially contrasting with later on when he outright states that Homelander isn’t worthy of his respect

What I love most is how dismissive he is about heroes as a whole. At the end, when he’s referring to Stormfront he’s almost got a mocking tone. You can hear it again when he mentioned Tek Knight. He genuinely sees them as disposable, which implies Vought is ready to replace any number of them at a moment’s notice with backup supes

"Hey... what is that stuff?" Mr White: "Compound V...with a tweak of chemistry"

Homelander: I want a raise. Stan: you will get nothing of the sort. Homelander: I see. Thank you for your time.

I love how he let homelander feel like he was in control right up until he tried to get in his face then he was like, Sit! Rollover!

I love Giancarlo. His character cannot be doubted. Sounds smart and is always in a gambit with whoever he’s talking too

Homelander: I demand respect!! Gus: Would you like that in a 6 piece combo?

I like that there's someone on the show that can stand up to Homelander and, more specifically, has no superpowers at all beyond those those of intimidation.

Gus can even manipulate Homelander, i am impressed!

"how would your shareholders feel about that" the way stan goes silent and stares at homelander. I like to imagine because he knows about homelanders amazing hearing and how he uses it to read people, that Stan stood in silence to let homelander hear his heartbeat, to let him know that nothing about homelander, what he is, what he can do and ESPECIALLY what he is saying has any affect on him. And that makes him mighty. Giancarlo is a master of silent intimidation. Brilliant.

Edgar is literally like batman here He is so vulnerable, but Homelander dare not touch him

1:19 These long moments of silently looking into each others' eyes are so utterly magnificent. Homelander thinks he has a winning hand and is waiting for Edgar to crumble. Edgar is only weighing Homelander as a man, and considering the right amount of damage to inflict on his ego.

The only man that Homelander can't take down or scare. What a legend, Stan is.

Well, Homelander kinda walked into that humiliation. Stan was going to be nice and friendly. Might have even have sweet-talked him about Stormfront. But then Homelander just HAD to pull his usual stuff which clearly doesn't work on Edgar.

I always laugh at how Stan is just leaning against his desk waiting for dude to finish before countering, cracks me up everytime lol.

Love the acting at 1:26, you can see him eagerly listening in, hoping to hear Edgar’s heart rate jump at the threat, only to be met with disappointment.

I love how homelander walks in with the same passive threats that he uses on everyone else in Vought to grab power, but Edgar doesn’t bite, to the point where homelander had to directly threaten to leave the company to assert power over Edgar. Yet edgar is having none of it, and puts homelander in his place with no direct threats, just showing the position of power he has with full iron, not even backing down to homelander face to face. Very classy power check

I love how homelander’s face is always him trying to contain himself

I love the little detail of Homelander taking a step back at 3:58. Even though he could crush Stan's skull like a balloon, he's the one with the least power in the room.

I like to think that at 1:19 Homelander is reading Stan's heartbeat and the reason his expression becomes neutral is because he realizes Stan is unphased by his empty threat.

The body language is so crucial to this scene. :02 Homelander walks in like he owns the place, the secretary looking extremely worried behind him. :03 Stan smiles and puts her at ease, showing that he does not blame her and will handle this himself 1:13 after ranting at his boss for a minute, Homelander puts his feet up on Stan's furniture as a show of dominance 1:30 They stare each other down, waiting for the other one in the room to be the first react. 1:40 Stan removes his glasses, like a man who knows he is about to engage in fisticuffs 3:08 Homelander is the first to break eye contact as Stan's frustration makes an audible _THUD_ , intimidating him 3:19 Like a child caught with his hand in the cookie jar, Homelander's denial is clumsy and weak 3:30 Stan resembles a father scolding an arrogant son, looking _down_ on Homelander while calling him out 3:32 Realizing he has no leverage, Homelander tries a last-ditch attempt to intimidate Stan, towering over him 3:43 Stan refuses to back up, not even raising an eyebrow, turning Homelander's childish excuse back on him 3:50 Homelander shows genuine embarrassment about his role as the company mascot, sulking to avoid eye contact 4:04 the nod to leave, as Stan is a busy man. I like how in every Character Giancarlo make he still can't stop acting as Gus fring.

I love this scene. I love how Stan puts Homelander in his place not by yelling or arguing, because you can't go toe to toe with Homelander's ego and temper tantrums. Instead, Stan neatly throws him off balance with a seemingly out of left field question: "What do you know about Frederick Vought?" HL still tries to be snarky and in control, but it's too late. Stan has already startled him out of his tantrum and egomania to leave him vulnerable enough to accept Stan's words as the boss finally and bluntly informs HL's place in the world and in Vought. Homelander can't pretend that he's bluffing about any of this either, because Stan's heart never moved a beat faster.

I love how Mr. Edgar basically tells Homelander exactly who Stormfront is on this scene but Homelander still doesn't understand the undertone of the context of the Frederich Vought story.

Will always love how Homelander thinks he can walk over anybody, but Stan Edgar proves otherwise.

Love how all of Giancarlo’s acting scenes could be a whole masterclass. From Breaking Bad to now The Boys. Hope he gets his flowers while he’s still alive
