I am in Love. RR new design which started with the velar is eye candy. I can hardly wait to see how they will adapt it to the RR Sport and also to the Discovery Line. For the rear lines, I also think they were looking into the 1966 Rover 2000 Series. I am very impressed, but it would almost feel like a sacrifice to bring something so beautiful to the raod.

I think they nailed the rear end, it was the only thing I didn't like about the current range rover, the rear felt proportionally too small and narrow in comparison to the front. It looks more balanced now in my opinion.
@aldrichuyliong8143
@aldrichuyliong8143 2 года назад
You missed one of the biggest changes to the rear: how they simplified the 3/4 window. It now looks like it blends into the rear window pane (as if it were one continuous sheet of wraparound glass) and does a lot to help realize the RR's vision of a floating roof design better than it has ever been implemented.

@@mugilv Everyone knows that they're owned by Tata, doesn't change the nationality of the company. Indian law states that company nationality is determined by country of incorporation and JLR is incorporated, registered and based in Coventry, UK. If you go Tata's website, you can see that they say "two iconic British brands acquired from Ford(American company)" so if it was British when owned by Americans then its British when owned by Indians. Indian-owned does not mean Indian. And incase you don't know, JLR vehicles are designed and engineered in the UK so they are the work of the British and most of the world gets UK built Land Rovers with the exception of the Defender and Discovery which are built in Slovakia. India doesn't make them, they just do final assembly exclusively for the Indian market with CKD kits of a just a few models sent from the UK with the same reason as why Mercedes have assembly plants in India, pay less import taxes. And btw the brand is Land Rover, not Range Rover as its just one of Land Rover's models and now a line-up of Land Rover's luxury oriented SUVs and not the brand itself.

overall the design retains the range rover DNA. It looks futuristic and up to date, however I was saddened by a few things. First the rear design, it's clean and extremely minimalist, but it loses that aggressive look of the headlights that we loved so much. The simplicity we expected in the interior was transferred to the exterior where it fails to evoke the same feeling as the previous model, at least it retains the vertical design and that's appreciated. Thank goodness they kept the split tailgate (otherwise i would have had a heart attack). i would have expected leather seats as standard (as in the previous model's accessories). on the interior, there is a very fine quality of materials and good colour shading. but again the design baffles me. the interior always valued minimalism, and now especially in the doors they overloaded it with intrusive lines that mess up the design, it makes me too much visual noise. the seats that filled me with expectations in the concept turned out to be common without surpassing the previous version. and now the biggest blunder (if the rear design is not already one by itself), to place 3 rows of seats? seriously? i love dscovery 7 seats but.... was it necessary in a range rover? when the l405 was launched in 2013 i still remember my first impression: 4 individual seats, the rear ones separated by a full console: that was a real jet, it created the feeling of exclusivity and individual space. but now we will have to stop at every bus stop to pick up people? seriously? the double screen of the previous model looked very beautiful and perfectly harmonious with the T design. now it looks like it's glued on. as if they forgot the screen when they finished the design...and bam! inserted in two minutes. i think the big breakthrough is in what you can't see. engines, technology and many other things, but precisely what you can see and what we loved so much, remains at 80%. i can no longer say "the best just got better".... it remains the same, but has subtly deviated.

I just really don't like the rear turn signals, they're just hidden bars, I wish they'd at least touch the taillights rather than being centered. I know it's supposed to be a characteristic element but it doesn't add to the design, but instead work against it by impeding the flow of the horizontal lines above and below it. Until then it's a mall crawler. giant 22 inch wheels with thin racing tires... absolutely ridiculous. Vanity over function wins again. If you wonder where the "new" shape came from - just look at the Velar. That design language is superb and I'm glad they've continued it in the big RR as well. Especially with the black roof ones, you get something no other manufacturer offers. With the Velar SVA they managed to create something between Velar and Sport just by changing the body colors and few details. With the new RR, they did "huge Velar" looks. There is a slight issue with the back being TOO modern compared to the front, but hey, still the best looking SUV. Plus the interior is great, super simplistic and clean, it radiates warm luxury, not a sigh of vulgar poshness. (although I liked the rotating gear selector, no idea why so many people hated it).

In design, this is a return to the ideals of the original CSK shape, which is good news. They must have noticed the huge demand for restomod versions of the original style. There are no straight lines, everything curves in at least one direction. Edge features are marked with folds and creases, like the original, with fewer finishers or trim. The styling cues aping Ford are vestigial or gone, now it has its unique identity back that it lost somewhere in the Mk2 and again in the Mk4 The solid black bar across the tailgate has potential to be lit up with that non-dazzle glow right across the width of the car - is that a distinguishing feature they are saving for the electric-only models coming later? One criticism (raised elsewhere already) is you can’t see the hazard flashers with the tailgate down. That’s a problem if you’re searching for tools while stopped in a live traffic lane. Needs some orange strobe LEDs on the bottom inside edge of the upper tailgate as a rear facing warning signal (doubles as party lights for those “event seating” social occasions, or would that frighten the horses?)

Really Dont like the Tesla style touch screen control for everything... What happened to real buttons! I miss pushing an honest tactile real button/switch.

This isn't a Range Rover. It is a luxury SUV for women. A Range Rover is an actual off-road capable vehicle, with a massive engine, which looks more at home on gravel roads, fields, deserts, moors etc. than at the country club or the spa. Even though it would look perfectly fine at a country club or spa. I'm sorry, this is just too far and too stupid. Call it the Luxury Rover, whatever it's a fine car, but it just is not a Range Rover. Edit: to say, the rear lights are something I'd expect from a Cadillac SUV. It is just bizarre what they have done with the brand.

Front end looked better before, now it’s too sleek, rear however is very good.

Looks light years better, looking at the previous generation now after seeing the new one it has aged about 25 years in terms of Design.

Bembli think you can redesign a 1980s ford mustang? But do it on front view.

The NSX began the full strip light on the rear 30 years ago and now companies are doing it lol

There is Range Rover focusing on the key elements and there is BMW throwing stuff on the wall to see, what sticks. Interesting video by the way

I prefer a more square front and I dislike the back.

For me that rear bumper is superb. I want it no other way. If they made it as usual it would look old and heavy. It looks like an Aston Martin bumper.

Use Range Rover BMW engines ❔🤔 4,4 l V8 and inline 6❔ I don't know ❕🤷🏻‍♂️ The design is extremely nice... but Rover is not my favorite car manufacturer 😅

V8 is a BMW engine but the straight 6 is JLR's own Ingenium unit.
