I have an Unpopular Opinion on Jett Lawrence... 

Well no one expected jetts game to be elevated on a 450 but it did. You cannot fault jett for everyone elses health. Sexton barely challenged jett like he did tomac. Hes on anothe level imo

Are you guys fucking kidding???? Why listen to a nobody that never raced a real professional season!! Chase is an awesome rider and he admitted that Jett just was better at this point and he will get back to work harder to beat Jet. These two young guns are the future of this sport. It will be so interesting to see Jett, Chase, Eli and that rest next year.

This guy is shot. He pretty much crushed chase and whom was more often was ahead of Eli in many races last year. His lines are better his balance is better he doesn’t fall he has better technique and is smoother. Dude hiccups on the start Saturday and still came out in second. He’s an amazing starter. He’s going to force everyone to evaluate their technique because he’s doing it better more efficiently.

I get why ppl are saying Jett didn’t have a lot of competition. But at the same time I don’t think even if everyone’s there they could handle him week after week. Maybe tomac would have gotten a few wins but again same time I think a lot of them are freaked out watching this kid lol they’ve said it before the kid can do things no one else can do! Doesn’t Jett run a 450… why does the opinion start with 2 years back in the 250 class. Gambling reasoning, doesn’t translate to most things in life- stick with professional gambling and amateur motocross trophies.

You’ll never get a fully healthy pro class. Someone is gonna crash throughout the season and get hurt. And the tracks are so crazy now that not everyone is gonna make a full season healthy. Jett is fast as fuck. Barcia, Kenny, and Anderson are all getting up there in age. Mookie will never ride at Jett’s pace. Maybe Cooper can hang with him? Eli is still on top. Sexton can hang for a while but he can’t stay on 2 wheels

Jett looked like he barely tried all season. Even when the races were close, it’s Jett managing, not Jett not being fast enough to pull a bigger lead. And now that we are through the season and we know what happened, this didn’t age well

Man, I don’t think it would have made a difference that all of the guys were not healthy. Maybe, maybe Eli if he was healthy, Eli could have hung with him, I really don’t think so? Last season, none of the guys were close to Chase and Eli, so why does everyone keep saying, if the guys were healthy?

I think jett is the real deal 100% but I do think that only having to do half of a season and then using the other half to fine tune ( i would assume a difficult bike to ride ) hrc 450 for outdoors kinda helps with his season he had

You can tell by the way Jett rides the bike that he rides it better than he roads a 250, he’s way faster. And for reference the dude came in and won his very first moto on a 450 in MXON against all of the top guys…. He has literally only lost 1 moto in his entire 450 career thus far and he got 2nd in moto 2 of MXON.

Jett has not really been in a position in the pack to not have to ride ‘soft’… remember when Hunter got cleared out? He came back with an awe hell no attitude- give it right back with a vengeance and took off.

He is going faster than anyone imagined. He sees things others don't and takes lines others can't. He sees the same things everyone else sees, he just sees those things differently

In my "Unpopular opinion" he said that Jett basically hasnt been against a full healthy line up but, thats part of the package of being a rider. Not crashing is part of being fast, nobody cares if in practices you make faster laps than james stewart because what matters is what you do in the race, soo if half of the line up are crashing and not there is because there racing above their limit. Jett in the other hand with all the pressure in the world clinch the MX tittle two rounds in advance and with Chase hauling ass he still ended up Undeafeated.

Keep in mind, Sexton had a concussion, so therefore, nobody was as fresh as Jett. Get a couple of the top guys being fresh at the beginning and throughout the season and Jett will have a harder time. He could still win a championhip, but it will be harder for him.

Jett is awesome. He will be in top 5 for foreseeable future. Jett may have won the championship this year but not one person that know the sport would even entertain the idea that Jett would have went undefeated if Tomac was there. With a healthy field Jett is in trouble!!!

The other fast guys were out because they were riding above there comfort zone except ET who just got unlucky. Being uncomfortably fast only lasts for a limited time before you hit the deck and injured again. For Jett to ride the pace he has and only have 1 crash that I can recall all season was impressive which shows he is riding well within his comfort zone.

Would been good to see this year's Jett against Eli n Sexton last year!

Jett is racing the best available competition.

Motocross and supercross have always had rider's missing seasons due to injury/health, It's so dangerous out there rippin. Rider's can't ride forever, otherwise you would have people saying, Carmichael or Stewart were out there jett would have lost. We are in a different era and it's so much faster and crazy to be at front these day's. Jett did clean sweep of season after winning all those 250 titles also. First in 20yrs.

Hunter moving up to 450 next season will be having sic battles with jett like in 250s.

I really want someone to do a youtube benchracing video about how injuries completely changes careers. Off the top of my head I think of Jeremy Martin and Austin Forkner. Would Cianciarulo be in the 450s right now if Austin could have stayed healthy? Would Yamaha have won more championships in the 450 is Jeremy martin stayed healthy and moved up instead of essentially getting stuck in the 250s?

Fun fact: Jett Lawrence has sole possession of 14th in all time combined career wins. 1 more win than Jeff Stanton and only 5 behind Roczen. If he wins 58 more races, he'll be 1 win ahead of Tomac, 3rd all time career wins and tied with Villopoto in number of championships. How long does it take him to get to 58 and win 4 more titles? Could happen as soon as 2025. That's some heavy stuff to think about.

Everyone is fast until they wreck or win a championship and realize they don’t want to break themselves off anymore and ride the comfortable speed. Tomac before he hurt his shoulders at Thurdervalley had unreal speed. He was leading people in the minutes. He had to cut down that speed or he was gonna get broke off. Jett is awesome but very young. He is on rails and looks so smooth but so did K94 and Tomac before that lightning speed caught up to them.

theres so many clips out there of out of this world moments from jett this season. We all want to see a close season but a special rider just did something special this year and its only gonna help the sport. Lets be real here. Sexton gave it his all, he was making mistakes trying to hunt Jett down because this is dick measuring for next season. Sexton did not want Jett to go perfect season so he was trying not to mention how pissed Ferrandis was when he got close at Dilla but couldnt beat him.

I don't agree, they're on just as high of a level, if not higher than last year. It might not be 22-0 this year, but with Eli on the new platform and shorter wheelbase making it more unstable, which only gets worse the more agressive you are with the throttle, i don't think Eli would of been as good as he was last year solely because of the new bike. i also believe they stepped it up a tad bit this year too. Plus, we know at his age Eli will not push it if he isn't comfortable and I don't blame him.. If he did get comfortable, it'd take quite a few races to get there and I don't think at that point with Jetts confidence and points gap by that point that he would catch up in points..Jetts starts are so much better too, so even Eli wouldn't do that come from behind and win unless Eli was just on one that day and I think he'd have to have a very good day to beat Jett straight up. I think it'd be more of a battle with Eli and Sexton for 2nd. Look at 2021 when Eli wasn't comfortable at Kawi, Dylan spanked him, and I really don't feel like the Yamaha would feel that comfortable.. I think it'd take a season to get it dialed and then come in swinging in '24 to be at his best. Just my opinion, and I love Eli, he's actually my favorite..So while I don't think it'd be 22-0, it'd still be dominate and I'm not saying he couldn't of done it with Eli there. Either way, you cant hold that against Jett, it's by far the deepest field out of all 4 perfect seasons. Who was RC or James racing, honestly? They didn't have a single premier class champion in the class in those 3 years... a lot of that had to do with Ricky winning everything, but still. Jett beat four 450 champions. It was only one race but he beat Kenny who's a 2 time 450 outdoor champion and 250 regional champ and he looked better outdoors in that one round than his previous years on Honda...and Jett caught him after a crash. You have Anderson a 450sx champion, Webb 2x 450Sx champ and multi-time 250 champ indoors and out, he raced long enough to know he wasn't beating Jett or Sexton. Dylan a 450mx champ, 250 champ. You have AC who isn't healthy but he's placed 2nd and almost won the title the year Osborn won his 450 title and he's also got a 250mx tite. There's AP who has titles indoors and out on a 250...Some other riders that jumped in and out of the series during the outdoors who have won 250 titles. Yes there's guys missing, but who could honestly beat him? Kenny won't judging by his last few years, when he'd win it was because of the start and Jett nails those. Eli is the only guy I can see beating him besides Chase. What's even crazier than Chase not winning a single moto, Chase didn't even lead a single lap and he's raced 8 of the 11 rounds and on the same bike as last year.. AP led a couple, Dylan led a few, and Kenny led the most in that single round, possibly more than AP and Dylan combined. Otherwise Jett led every lap of the season... I think Ricky in 2002 did it against Ferry, a 125 regional champ without winning a main event, i believe he's won a couple premier class outdoor motos but no overalls, Lusk, then Tortelli and 'lucky' Kyle Lewis in 5th on the year.... 2nd and 3rd overall at the end of 04 was Chad which was by far his hardest competition in either one of his perfect seasons. Chad never cared about motocross like supercross and it showed... When he decided he wanted an outdoor title, he got it, and stepped it up again leading RV and Dungey by a lot of points. Straight up beating them all year until his crash at Millville... then 3rd was Kevin Windham who has won races, won a 125 title indoors and out, but no premier class titles. And then you had the cobra in 4th who didn't even train, Fonseca, and Byrne 5th&6th 2005 was somewhat deeper...Windham was riding well and it was all 450s outside of Kawasaki and RC was on a brand new 450 where he won every overall but lost 2 motos. 1 from being landed on by James, the other crashed the lead away.. But besides those 2 motos, doing that in the 05 season was more impressive as far as depth goes.. James was even weaker in my opinion... He raced against Alessi who was his fastest competition, he's won races but he didnt race the full series due to injury and never won a pro title on 250 or 450. Ferry his teammate was 2nd, Shorty 3rd, and Cody Cooper i believe was 4th and he almost beat James in a moto during a mudder.... So while it's extremely impressive to get a perfect season regardless of competition just due to all the variables and the fact its only been done by one other guy before him, are we going to say 2008 was deep either? With how many champions (both classes) were racing in 2023 and the fact he did it in his rookie year, if this isn't held as the greatest season of all time then people are out of their minds... i don't care if it was 22 motos instead of 24, this was far more impressive. Doing it against Sexton who won races and was 1 point down going into the last round against Eli a 4 time 450 outdoor champ, that would almost be like Ricky going perfect in 2006 against James or vise versa... They really raised the game last year, and like I said, he did it as a rookie. I don't know why this isn't talked about more.. We need an indepth article and stats comparing all 4 seasons. Besides level of competition, id like to see the stats on how many total laps led each season, and how many holeshots each guy had during all 4 of the perfect seasons.

I’ve said this says tomac and webb got hurt in sx that jett was gonna have a easy road, anderson was out at the beginning chase got hurt round 2. Ferandis coming off injury and a long time off bike. All his top competitors were either not there or not at there best. I do not think jett goes undefeated if Eli was there.
