World Tour mode made this game, for me. It added so much to the single player experience the standard arcade mode felt boring by comparison. IMHO, Capcom could base an entire SF game on this one mode that effectively married lite RPG elements to the fighting genre.
Realtalk fam the street fighters series went straight to tournament mode now they don't care about those modes cause they could be made a crazy world tour mode threw some rpg in it from the beginning or like a grapple where u gotta push buttons to throw or slam an opponent they couldve went crazy went alot of the series but who are we... they are Capcom smh lol

Out of all the Street Fighter variants the Alpha games are the only ones I can get into. I do have 4 but only played it twice. I had got if for $,5 from the Block Buster closer
Top Hat Gaming Man just covered Alpha 3 last week, so your timing is great! A3 was always my favorite Street Fighter. It just seemed the deepest, and most balanced out of all of them
I would absolutely watch the sweet and salty run back of this. I also agree, the SNES version of Alpha 2 is delightful in it's own "this should be impossible, and nobody asked for it, but we've Frankenstein'd the shit out of a SNES board to make it happen anyway!"

"Sunburn Sakura" shows up in mvfs as a separate hidden character from normal Sakura , as a 3 bar hyper combo transformation in mvc2 and she gets some of her "dark moves" in Hyper Street Fighter Alpha's Red/Marvel ism.
What you need to understand is, Akuma isn't there to change the status quo among characters, he's just there to define strength. He's basically the video game version of Yujiro Hanma.
I felt that "Birdie isn't as cool in 5." He was my favorite character as a kid and seeing him become a total joke character was a bit heartbreaking. Also how could they replace the swiss cheese mohawk?
Fun tip - if you alpha counter on the first hit of Bison's super - you can avoid all that chip damage as you'll go through the entire animation and take no damage.
I still play the Saturn version of this for one reason--Reverse Dramatic Battle Mode. You've not known frustration until you've tried to take on two CPU opponents at once with some utterly insane pair ups like Chun Li and Fei Long, Sagat and Adon and of course the last match being friggin Akuma/Gouki and Evil Ryu!
Didn’t the 30th Anniversary Collection have Dave states? Could have saved before the Bison fight started and “continued” that way. I don’t think anyone would complain...except Mike Matei.
Honestly as a brit, I think the older birdie designs are hella cool given the old london punk era they're drawing from. We also have Cammy though, so literally any other character is fine - she makes up for everything lol. No abigail though....you can keep him :/
Dark Sakura apears in Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Figther, While Dark/Mecha Zangief apears in Marvel Vs Capcom Clash of Super heroes. Also I can agree that Alpha 2 has the best backgrounds, since the Ken one features my babe Morri and many other capcom characters.
I always mained akuma when I found out about character stats. He does more damage in general and can dominate the area quickly with a flurry of attacks but he has less health overall. I always played on turbo 8 too because crack head energy with quick inputs that pushed the limits of my hands. Also yo x ism gives you increased damage and speed with after image attacks for a limited time. It's meant to portray moving so fast you hit multiple times
So weird. I played this first on the PS1 over and over again, and in THAT version, you COULD continue after losing to Final Bison. When I got Alpha Anthology for the PS2, I was shocked that I couldn't keep going.
Personally the release of Alpha 3 was the high-water mark for fighting games in arcades- it was super anticipated, and the biggest thing hands-down when it dropped; every arcade had it on at least 2 cabs, some up to 5; seven nights a week there were at least 20 or 30 dudes lined up to play. 3S and MvC2 may have had a longer tournament life, but Alpha 3 was a cultural force in a way that has not been replicated since. Fond memories for sure.
I wish for a Street Fighter Alpha 4 with all the characters they added to the PSP version and the other Capcom guys from Capcom vs SNK 2, and all the backgrounds from the Alpha series.
@@MattMcMuscles That's true, but in the console ports, Balrog/Boxer does has have his own stage, Juni/Juli does share theirs still, and Karin has her own. The characters added to Alpha 3 MAX (Eagle, Maki, Yun, Ingrid) do share stages however.
@@MattMcMuscles No, on Max it actually gives Balrog his own stage(The Casino), Juni and Juli get slightly diferent versions of Bisons stage, and some of the new characters like Maki and Ingrid dont have their own stages. Btw pleasant surprise to get a reply!
I am entertained and I learned a lot! And yes, the GBA port of Alpha 3 is indeed, _the best port!_ If they can give us Power Battle for Capcom Arcade 2nd and Neo Geo Pocket on console, they _have to_ give us the GBA port of Alpha 3! I need it! Great Stuff, as always!
Goddamn, I played Alpha 2 a lot on arcade and never saw that black screen guy special is AWESOME!!! PRETTY SICK! Now I want a whole SF game about Rolento's Indian affair who cheers for him whenever he wins
I know the 30 anniversary collection uses the arcade version of alpha 3, but in the console version, every character gets there own stage. I think the only characters that had recolors were the dolls, evil Ryu, and shin akuma
I played this game alot when I was younger. World tour mode! They need to make a game based on this world tour mode system. My go to characters were Sagat, Rolento, but my main characters yo use were Akuma and Shin Akuma.
I started on Street Fighter 2 on Snes but my next game I ever played growing up was Alpha 3 and it blew my mind as a kid. The roster is crazy big and I found so many characters I loved. Also I hate fighting Vega!! If I could learn anyone it would be him. He's just way to complicated. I've tried multiple times. Over all a amazing game still one of my all time favorites for fighting games.
Coming from someone who is a Britain born. Personally, I would rather chose Birdie, Current version Blade (Eric Brook) , Mad Jim Jaspers, Sherlock Holmes (BBC series 1 - 3) and Psylocke (Comic version to current where she is Captain Britain which I'm ok with than her brother) than other Britain characters from any Video Game included the comics and tv series who only exist to boost up "Cool Britain" or "Just posh" persona, cliches and trop involved the mannerism when it come to introduction themselves toward other non Britain characters, cringe stereotypes from Britain included multicultural ones who is a Brit themselves or being a counterparts to popular exist character in pop culture.
Odd tidbit: Earthworm Jim in Clayfighter 63 1/3 has one of guys supers copy and pasted. The reason being that since he is a guest character and so is Guy...to a certain extent
I miss this game so much. I dominated this game. I remember going through World Tour Mode to unlock Guile. Holy crap; getting there took so much effort but, it was totally worth it. I miss you Street Fighter Alpha 3 (and Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max). In my humble opinion and preference; Street Fighter Alpha 3 is the best entry of the franchise. I'm not lying. [Sidenote: Wasn't Karin's stage on console a cruise ship or something?]
I could have sworn you get multiple chances against Bison in Arcade, you only get sent back to the start if you switch characters. Unless that was only for the Playstation version. Either way, this is one of my all time favorite games, and I'd personally love to see you do another arcade run with a different character, or World Tour. And also Dramatic Battle, because it's hilarious.
Console versions of standalone Alpha 3 do let you continue against Bison (except if you played "Final Battle" mode), its just the Arcade version (or those based on it, such as the Alpha Anthology and the 30th Aniv. Collection) has a hard rule on losing against Bison gives him his ending instead.
@@jaimereupert4247 That's if your playing the PS1 or GBA version to unlock said modes, the later console versions (DC/PSP) automatically have that at the start.
Isn't it ironic that Bison is a boss in Street Fighter Alpha 3 but Akuma isn't? I know Shin Akuma was the final boss of Evil Ryu in Alpha 3 Upper/Max and Ryu was the final boss of Bison
The juggles in Alpha 3 are pretty lenient and unique within the Street Fighter games. If you count the possiblities off that, you dropped a lot of potential combos there. Other than that, the various mechanics within Alpha 3 are pretty deep. It has a variant of Just Defend where you take only half damage to the guard meter if you block a few frame before an attack connects instead of holding back, your character will flash blue to indicate a successful JD. It also has proto crush counters where certain heavy counter hits cause a brief slowdown and send the opponent flying for some combo potential. Too bad everything else gets overshadowed by V-ISM and its Custom Combos when it comes to Alpha 3.
The OCD in me was so upset that Guile wasn’t in the game because he was the only missing SF2 character in the game (and to an extent T Hawk, Fei Long, and Dee Jay for Super SF2) but was excited when they were announced for the console versions.
Jaime Reupert nope, it’s Alpha 3 Upper. Alpha 3 Max is Alpha 3 Upper Upper. The Vanilla version has Balrog, Juli, and Juni as secret characters with no T Hawk, Fei Long, DeeJay, Guile, Evil Ryu and Shin Akuma.
While Alpha 3 is good, I always enjoyed Alpha 2 since it introduced my favorite character in SF, Sakura. I would definitely like to see you play DOA or Virtua Fighter.
9:54 this is wrong. only 2 characters in the arcade version share a stage(that being Karin and Sakura on the stage you're playing on) the only characters without a stage named after them in them in the ports are Juli and Juni Eagle Yun Ingrid Evil Ryu (thou it would later become training mode) and Maki also Karin has two stages. the one you're playing on. and the boat stage
