Really interesting. I don't think people think they have anything to hide until some of their personal information gets into bad actors hands. Targeted advertising is one thing, but they're not the only ones getting access to our data.
Saying that you have nothing to hide, does not mean you give up your privacy!!!! I don’t care who, what, when ,where, why, or how! Your privacy, and your boundaries, are everything!

I always say the same thing to them. I get out a pen, I write down my email address. I say, "Here's my email address. What I want you to do when you get home is email me the passwords to all of your email accounts, not just the nice, respectable work one in your name, but all of them, because I want to be able to just troll through what it is you're doing online, read what I want to read and publish whatever I find interesting. “Those with nothing to hide, hide nothing.” ... Undoubtedly that quote was invented by those who would like to invade our privacy... *Trust is earned* . And sometimes we’ve all mistakenly misplaced our trust. I thought the same exact things as you. (about giving out our passwords, bank numbers... ect) Only a person without discernment would give any credibility to such absurd assertion... “Those with nothing to hide, hide nothing” ? That statement alone is accusatory in nature. It suggests that those who aren’t open and trusting, are doing something immoral or illegal. ... *It is always wise to protect ourselves and our privacy, especially because of those who may seek to violate us in some way* .
I care about security not privacy. I'd let anyone read my emails and see my bank balances and medical history. But, I don't want you "spending my money" or "speaking on my behalf, impersonating me", and so on... Also, if I have something I'm embarrassed about I would be fine with institutions having access to it, but I don't want friends and family to have it. I want privacy from friends and family, I don't care if google, facebook or NSA have my info. They're just doing what's in their best interest which serves the collective interest of the ruling class.
A fascinating video Nelio. This is so important, now more than ever. Our societies are being built around our data in every respect. This is a good thing if done right, we'll develop at unseen rates in the future. However, security is paramount. It seems like the Wild West out there right now when it comes to GDPR, data security etc. I've huge respect for those doing what they can to spread awareness on the matter!
This aged well... forms of social credit scores is already in use... for some insurance companies and property developers..in South Africa. like they say, you will own nothing...have no privacy and be happy.
I was shocked and angry about this. I had no idea someone was looking over my shoulder, my whole life on here… People are just typing in questions that they would never ask another person’s, yet, here they are at their computer that the internet is a source of all knowledge, They have no idea that anyone is recording this stuff that they’re searching for… I am beginning to understand what it might mean to post things about myself on the internet…
I find it annoying when; recently doing an online search for cookware, then also a printer. For several weeks after that, I was targeted with unwanted adds on my browser for both cookware and printers. I am resentful of these parasitic companies, that are stalk us online. And they get the information on what we searched for from these search engines... Then the pop up adds we start getting afterwards aren’t ‘coincidental’, as some people do naively think. I need to change my homepage from Microsoft edge I guess... Maybe use a different browser altogether. But then again, they all probably do this shite, and worse... 😠
I don't get the premise of this argument... 'do you want the world where... x y z'?- no I don't, that's why we have to read T&Cs and not accept what we don't want! It's so simple. Just because some people cannot manage a thing isn't an excuse for absolute prohibition of that thing.

Moral of the story: Don't take out loans you can't repay, read the fine print and know what you are getting into. On another note, in a country with no privacy laws, where company's harass people, the collective understanding of the injustice would garner sympathy toward the individual and lessen the shame brought on by public companies harassing individuals. So in the end, the society would find a balance. Yes another "pro-privacy" video that does not make a good argument for privacy.
