This is a follow up video to our first video "I Have Omicron - A Doctor's Experience And Perspective" ( • I Have Omicron - A Doc... ) posted the other day after we were diagnosed with COVID-19. Check that out first if you haven't caught it. In this video we are going to update you all on how we have been feeling, general thoughts on Omicron and symptom progression, as well as updated numbers for case rates, hospitalizations (including ICU admissions and patients on ventilators), and fatalities in some of the larger US cities that are farther along in their Omicron surges.
We had a significant improvement in symptoms yesterday, but then oddly developed fevers, chills, back aches, and headaches again last night into this morning. Symptoms now are primarily upper back aches, headaches, and fatigue. We aren't sure what to make about this bimodal distribution of symptoms where we had improvements yesterday and then some worsening and change in symptoms today.
In some large US cities including New York City, Boston, Washington DC, and Chicago, hospitalization rates, ICU admission rates, and patients on ventilators seems to be increasing towards previous peak levels. This is a tad surprising after South Africa had such a mild course of Omicron. We discuss these rates and why they may be different in the US as compared to other areas.

Definitely had symptoms that came and went. Most mornings woke up feeling ok, but as the day progressed the headache , sore throat, and fatigue would come and go. . Really weird symptoms , sweats at night…like only my face. Symptoms were always worse at night. Finally after 10 day, I have no symptoms and feel like myself.

I have had body soreness like my osteoporosis arthritis is on 10 I also felt better then worse with the fatigue and achiness Biggest symptom that has lingered is the body aches. I wish people would say if they had a positive covid test. What you describe could be any of the winter viruses that circulate. I got covid on Christmas day and tested positive with a home BinaxNow test the following morning. I tested again three more times over the next 9 days and all were positive. My only point is if you get tested, then you have a pretty good idea if it is covid or something else. Btw, for those counting, I'm old, triple vaxed and my illness was very mild and short (48 hour max, although I continued to test positive). Because of that I presume I had the Omicron variant but I can't be sure.

I am 21 days out of my bout with Omicron. 50s, well controlled HTN, nl BMI. The pattern was throat tickle on day 0, fatigue and chills 24 hours later, insomnia due to chills/sweats body temp disregulation 3 days in a row, always feeling better in the morning and worse at night. I was at 80% on Day 5 and was completely better on day 7-8. I was Binax - until 36 hours into my symptoms, Binax - again on Day 6. I took high dose Vitamin D (10k iu/day) through day 6, Zinc Picolinate BID, Vitamin C and fluids. I had no real appetite until day 5. My 7 and 11 year old sons each experienced 24 hours of fever in the following pattern 101.6, 103, 102, and 101 over the 24 hour. Within 36 hours of onset they were almost back to normal. Binax - on day 4. In my experience somatic symptoms are exacerbated at night time. Best of luck in your speedy recovery

My symptoms started off as very mild - soft cough, fever and painful aches for about 24 hrs. And then it all went away so I suspected that it was just a cold and Mucinex took care of it. However, 48 hours after, the symptoms returned but with vengeance. The coughing is starting to make my Head hurt. No aches or fever but I do feel chills as I type this. Hopefully it's just the weather. My Mother experienced similar symptoms. She's not vaccinated, and has a couple of health challenges , such as diabetes, osteoporosis and severe aortic stenosis. I hope she is able to pull through and recover more than anything. Please keep her in your prayers / thoughts. And thank you always for your wonderful content.

You churn out more high quality content than 10 people so you deserve the pronoun "We"! Great to hear you're doing well! The bimodal symptoms you have experienced are very common amongst the people in my circle that have recently had/have Covid (presumably Omicron). The good news is that the overall duration is still typically much shorter. I think the key is to just watch the trend in symptoms. A single day with a little backslide is nothing to worry about and in fact very common (at least anecdotally). However, I think it's critical to prioritize rest/recovery. My guess is taking on too much activity too soon could trigger worsening of symptoms. The data you reviewed from the NYT is concerning and aligns with a concern I've had for some time. I believe strongly that Omicron is less severe. However, I think most people are overestimating the amount of reduction in severity as you covered. The study out of Ontario showed that in a matched cohort the reduction in hospitalization risk was 54%. While that's significant when cases are 400%+ then there are going to be a lot of very sick patients. Due to the unprecedented surge in cases the among of undercounting is much higher than during previous surges. Testing is almost unavailable at this point and rapid antigen positives aren't counted in the official #'s. Trial Site News did an article on this topic just today raising the alarm that while Omicron is good news as a whole individuals should reassess their personal risk levels and be sure they are taking adequate precautions.

Hello doctor! I'm 27, fully vaccinated (2 doses Biontech). My first symptom was a scratch in the throat that made me cough. After that I noticed fatigue, physical and mental, brain fog (very scary), mild headaches, night sweats, but last days was just a very stubborn dry cough in the morning, that then develops to a cough with phlegm after I eat/drink. Today it's my 13th day of Omicron and I woke up with a new sore throat, besides the usual cough. This is a crazy and unpredictable disease

doc, really appreciate your videos. the most likely explanation for the unexpectedly high hospitalization rates ( vs other countries ) are two fold. one, our media and healthcare bureaucracies have done a great job at making sure the american public has no early pre-hospital intervention treatment information ( and there are actually a number of very effective early interventions to reduce the early viral load and avoid hospitalization upon covid infection ), and two, this same cabal has worked the public into a form of mass hysteria----so at the first sign of symptoms-------without any information on how to deal with the virus early on-------we are encouraged to rush to the hospitals for treatment. i've been the the health care / medial field for over fifty years----and this is the worse, most inexcusable ------almost bordering on criminal----behavior or our media and health care institutions that i've seen.

Sir, you are SO right that it actually hurts!!! Unluckily it's the same everywhere. I'm Italian and here and in basically anywhere in the E.U., it's only and exclusively VACCINES, VACCINES AND VACCINES! In the past months whoever tried to suggest early treatments, ways to "preapare your terrain" via vitamins, supplements and healthy food and also easy and dirt-cheap measures like mouthwashes and nasal sprays to reduce the virus' "inoculum" and, consequently, illness severity, was immediately dismissed as anti-vaxxer, anti-science and a quack. The official guidelines from the Italian Health Ministry on outpatients management (latest version Apr. 26 2021, bless their heart 🤬) say, and I liberally translate here, "since there's no real benefit demonstrated in scientific studies so far about vitamins and supplements like vit. D, zinc, quercetin, lactoferrin etc. to fight the SarsCov2 infection, their use is therefore NOT recommended". I'm not in the medical field in any way, shape or form, though even this cable splicer can see criminal negligence and malpractice right there!!!😡 All the best and stay safe!💪

He started with 24 mg ivm. The following day he took 24 mg of ivm and had a profuse sweating 6 hours later and from that time on he was completely asymptomatic (PCR positive, omicron). Jan 10 ( 4th day) he's still asymptomatic. Case 2: myself (68, retired physician, 2nd pfizer jab 4 months ago). Tested positive jan 8, started with throat pain, cough, fever, strong myalgia especially in the legs, headache, kind of a slow thought). Took ivm 30 mg. Today day 3 no fever, keep dry cough and nasal congestion, no myalgia). Case 3. My wife started jan 9 with 38.5 C of temperature, moist cough, nasal congestion, myalgia. The temperature seems to go down today. Is ivm having any effect? In the case of my son he was absolutely fine after his second dose and one might think that it was ivm the culprit of such a dramatic improvement. However the possibility of the 3rd jab just at the beginning of the disease and stopping the illness abruptly is a possibility. In my case after the first ivm dose I had a reduction of temperature and the complete disappearance of myalgia. In the following days we'll see. I hope "we" recovers completely. It depresses me quite a bit that the question of the efficacy of ivm has not been totally established. I cannot understand why the FDA CDC NIH has not done anything. At an individual level giving it with such a low rate of admissions is impossible to establish.

I'm 70 years old, fully vaccinated and boostered on Nov. 15th with no co-morbidities. I keep fit by lifting weights, but that probably doesn't have anything to do with anything. On the first two days I had the typical itchy throat with sinus congestion, post-nasal drip and very slight headache that came and went. On the third day I developed laryngitis probably from the sinus crud, but the sore throat went away. I never lost taste or smell, my fever never got higher than 99.4 and by day 9 the symptoms were gone. All in all it was like a very mild cold.

Onset of symptoms began Monday 1/3: headache and fatigue, mild runny nose, no congestion, tight tickle-y throat but not sore. Like you, fatigue was the main symptom. Interestingly fatigue was worse during the day and tended to ease at night most days. Also headaches were moderate level for days 1 and 2, went away for a couple of days then came back for a day. Fortunately mild symptoms overall. Today felt an uptick in energy and no headaches. We’ll see what tomorrow brings.

I was surprised at the duration of my symptoms given all the chatter regarding "short duration". My symptoms, especially sore throat, persisted for approximately 1 week. The lingering symptoms at this point, (two weeks post positive antigen test), although much improved, are fatigue and very mild nasal congestion / rhinorrhea. I had headache for one day early on and never really had a cough of any significance. The traditional URI treatment guidance certainly applies ... rest, hydration, nutrition and symptomatic relief. Thanks for your dedication through this time of illness ... Get well soon!!!

I had Omicron a couple of weeks back, similar symptoms minus the headaches. IMO the bimodal nature of the symptoms comes from trying to fight the fatigue by doing things, anything. I found even the mildest exertion would knock me back - I am not someone who likes lounging around in bed and decided to attend to small tasks to occupy my time. Bad idea! Once you have it, stay in bed or on the sofa and watch Netflix. It will IMO shorten the time you are out of action. I have had no vaccinations and hence no boosters - absolutely not anti-vax, they work, but I just realised that their effectiveness would wear off quickly and early research indicted each subsequent shot resulted in diminishing amounts of protection. I planned to get vaxed in early December to give me maximum protection through the winter months. Until then I was very cautious including FFP3 mask, hi-dose vitamin D etc. Then Omicron arrived and I realised I was more likely to get it than Delta and I did a week or so later. I presume I now have natural immunity for a few months but I am still very cautious. In Feb/March I will reassess the situation and may get vaxed if a new variant has arisen. I don't think it's Omicron we have to worry about but what comes after. With so many infections we are certain to get a variant - each previous wave produced new variants with a fraction of infections. Each infection is another chance to produce a better variant.

As an unjabbed senior who has, I believe, had both, delta in Sept. and omicron currently, I can definitely say that, for me, delta was much worse. I did consider going to the doctor, but I was not in my home town and knew that they would do nothing more than test and send me home with instructions to return if I couldn't breathe. I was basically laying on my daughter's couch for three weeks. I experienced extreme fatigue, dizziness, lack of taste and smell, couldn't eat for over a week, difficulty taking deep breaths, fever and hallucinations. I am now on about day seven or eight of what I am pretty sure is omicron. Unlike delta, the main involvement has been bronchial and sinus, not lung. I also noticed that unlike a normal cold, which for me starts in throat and sinuses, then moves to bronchial, this started in the throat and bronchial then moved to the sinuses. Headaches, yes, fatigue, yes, coughing, yes, and sometimes night sweats. I have not noted a fever. While I can see how very compromised people could have some bad outcomes from omicron, it is very much more like a bad cold than delta was. I have not once felt it necessary to seek medical care. I am now 72. I was 71 when I had delta. I am admittedly overweight, but have no other health issues. I did front load for several months with D3, zinc, selenium, quercetin and E, and continue them now.

I'm not sure if we had omicron or even covid, still waiting on PCR results taken a week ago. We (my husband (40) and myself (32) both unvaccinated) had scratchy throats on day 1. Day 2 same scratchy throat but a little more sore now, felt like a cold coming on, I also felt some head pressure like I was getting a head cold. I upped all our vitamins immediately and did a neti pot treatment. Immediately felt much better in the head and just a sore throat remaining. Day 3 I still had sore throat and my shoulders were achy. On one of these nights I also woke up feeling a little warmer than usual and a little sweaty but nothing for me to even notice if it wasn't for my other symptoms and fell back to sleep quickly. Day 4 my symptoms were gone completely, felt great. Day 5 sore throat returned and I had a post nasal drip happening at night, that made me cough first thing in the morning but not the rest of the day. Those two same symptoms continued for another 3ish days on repeat and I am back to 💯 again. Like I said we are still waiting on results but if this was omicron it was quite possibly the best cold I've had. If it wasn't for covid going around I wouldn't have even considered myself "sick". Our oldest (4) had congestion for 1 day, middle son (2) had runny nose for several days followed by a cough and congestion in the morning but nothing throughout the day. And our 1.5 year old had slight runny nose.

My timeline matches yours perfectly. My wife got this first and I was taking care of her during the east coast storm and power outage. I didn't feel great but I didn't feel sick either. My symptoms have been mild for the most part. I've monitored my 02 levels and always in high 90% range. Scratchy throat, very slight cough and now some sinus stuffiness. No real drainage, loss of smell or sweating. I have had the back and forth experience like you however. End of day and early rise timing is the worst. What I did determine is that fluid intake is critical. My worst day was day 2 and I felt extremely thirsty. I woke that day to thinking I may not have it and by 3pm I was a little scared it was going to be really bad. I started consuming huge quantities of water and it has helped a bunch. I also nap early afternoon and that is helping too. My wife started a week before me and she has much more symptoms than me. She is feeling better but has a lot of congestion still. I have that bimodal pattern almost every time I start feeling sick. I feel better in the morning, when I wake up, but get tired pretty fast while I'm up and about. I've observed that when this is going on, I can "recharge" by spending some time in the bed, but that becomes less effective as the day progresses. It doesn't last more than a few days, but that's usually my experience of being sick. Symptoms vary. The first symptom is usually sore throat, followed by general malaise. Runny nose about half the time. Headache is rare. Often subjective fever starts appearing if it lasts for more than a 2 or 3 days, but that tends to go away if I spend some time in bed and returns when I get back up. I've interpreted this pattern as being sort of an resource allocation thing. While I'm relaxing in bed, more resources can be focused on fighting the disease and repairing the damage than when I'm up and about. No clue if that's accurate or not, but it's the best theory I have.

I can relate to what you have been going through. I have the very same timeline line with the exact symptoms decried in this video. I thought I was loosing my mind but it appears to just be the progression of the virus. I also believe that most of the omicron cases across the country are not being reported and therefore cause the data for infections and hospitalizations to be skewed. Therefore I would never put much stock in any data reported by any news outlet because they’re in the business of making money not necessarily reporting accurate facts. Case in point, I follow my home states health department stats and can tell you that the local news reports are not reporting stats accurately from our DHS.

Fever/chills on day 1, my aches were middle back, the mild headache that would keep coming back for about 3 days once the Tylenol wore off. The sweats at night for about 3 nights, each one less sever. Itchy throat that turned into a cough with a little bit of chest congestion, but my nose was spared however. By day eight I was almost symptom free except for a slight cough that took another two days to go away. I took a test on day 2 of being symptomatic and it came back negative, so I just assumed I had a mild flu, until my Brother and Sister-in-law, who also attended the same Christmas party as I and had similar symptoms tested positive. So now I guess I had a false negative?

Obviously if you are still sick you still need to quarantine. My vaxxed friends felt better before day 5 so by day 6 they returned to work and stopped isolating and followed the guidance of strict masking understanding that they could still be slightly contagious. You may want to look up the official on the CDC. I don't know if it is the same for unvaxxed. Unvaxxed seem to be sicker for longer and symptoms do correlate to your level of contagiousness.

I hope you don't get it, but the symptom behaviour you are describing sounds exactly like my long covid for the past year and a half. Symptoms appear, disappear, then reappear again and again. Just when you think you're getting over it it returns... Then symptoms change. Can appear anywhere around the body... If things get weird it may be long covid.... Keep in mind that physical and mental exertion seems to produce worse long haul conditions... Less is more. Sit still, sleep and don't get anxious or burned out. Seriously, this really matters.

I have had real night sweats… an ERP left me with a liver abscess about 6 months after the procedure. Night sweats only occur with REM sleep; you wake up with your body and sheets drenched; actually physically wet. Might have considered Luvox, hope you do well!

I'm on the same trajectory you are, with symptoms starting on 1/4, and am noting the same wax and wane of symptoms. Just as I'm thinking I'm on my way out, the symptoms ramp up again. I'm 79, no co-morbidities, female, remain isolated and unvaccinated. I've found the cough to be the most persistent and irritating of the symptoms.

Thanks for clarifying. I wasn't sure if it was the royal we or if you were saying you and maybe a significant other were both infected.

my entire family went through it- wife and I were double vaccinated and I previously had the alpha version. We are both in our mid 40s. My wife had the body aches and a mild fever for one day- then she got the itchy throat and cough the next day- and that has slowly improved. I started with the raspy throat?- not quite sore- and occasional cough- the raspy throat only lasted 1 day- left with an occasional throat itch and mild cough when the itch comes on. Kids- both unvaccinated - my youngest at 10 had a mild fever 100.3 being the highest- for about 2 hours and a little dizzy- by the evening he was fine and showed no other symptoms. my daughter 13- had no symptoms at all- .

One concern I have here in Australia at least, re affect of omnicron is if self testing is being used for most people thus all data not recorded on actual positive cases, how will our data be reliable. This data you presented is so interesting and important. We are behind other countries and have the beauty of reviewing data but still selling to the public that it’s a much milder virus. Vigilance I agree is vital.

I started feeling itchy throat around Dec. 29. It went away completely so I thought nothing of it. Returned a few days later with intensity. Started wearing mask at home and stayed home. Cold symptoms followed, runny nose, frontal headaches, sinus pressure, neck pain/headache, upper back aches, fatigue, some body aches, cough. Same as you some symptoms got better than returned. Mostly mornings were worse for me. Family member tested positive of Jan. 6. I tested same day and had a positive test. Headaches are gone. But still have runny nose and occasional cough. I’m due for my Pfizer booster in 11 days. Have never had COVID before as far as I know.

I'm at day 3 of symptoms. Very little to no respiratory symptoms. Had some chills day1 with headache and brain fog. Moderate to severe body aches, fatigue and dizziness continue. Lower back worst of all. I expect it's excaserbating an old injury? Been taking 2k IU of D3 for the last month. C and zinc since symptoms started. Brain fog slowly lifting.

Whiteboard Doc, crazy but my symptoms are running strangely similar to yours. I’m about three days behind you. I had a really good day today and now that it is 10:30 pm my nose is getting congested and my throat is getting sore. Totally similar how as night comes on the symptoms get worse. Slight headache on the right side only. Minimal cough. Almost non existent. Tested positive Saturday. Omi. I watched the video and thought, no this won’t happen to me, and here I am having a similar experience. Sunday was the worst day. Moving to better each day with regression at night.

where have you been looking for data. I found great info from Dr. John Campbell. all the symptoms you spoke of are normal for Omicron. Strange you should exhibit all the symptoms, but anyways, who am I to say different. Dr. John Campbell, pulls a lot of his data right out of South Africa. Strange that no other is doing the same. Get well, and happy life.

We appreciate that! All the symptoms are typical Omicron symptoms, just odd yesterday symptoms resolved and then returned today. That’s all. If interested we did a deep dive on Omicron symptoms linked below! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-m9W3_3EQPF0.html

The headaches! I never get headaches. EVER. But last week I had them every evening around 6 pm in the back of my head. I looked the location up and they were tension headaches. Perplexed - my life is super consistent, and I couldn’t figure out the reason. Then a 20% sore/scratchy throat. Intermittent, but noticeable. Fatigue, malaise, and napping a lot. Night sweats, yes. I’m triple vaxxed and am very healthy - last time I was sick with ANYTHING was 1997. So I’m just riding this out - here in Philly you can’t get a test in person or to buy for home ANYWHERE. It’s crazy. My friends in Manhattan say it’s the same thing there. Thank you so much for this video. Very helpful!

Even tho I’m older than doc my symptoms are milder but I have natural immunity, so that probably offered a good degree of protection. Day 5 today finally a day without the dull headaches…! Hoping tomorrow I will be all clear. Fingers crossed.
