Richard is back for part 2 of him playing through Sniper Elite 4. Walking us through the best sniper techniques and applying them in-game is incredibly interesting. Richard teaches useful skills, like to never shoot without cover, remember to conserve ammo and your only limit is your view. What do you think of the video, are you interested in seeing Part 3? In Sniper Elite 4, players become elite tactical shooters using stealth elements. Using a sniper rifle from a long distance, the player will activate a kill cam system, which will show broken, ruptured or fractured body parts, bones, or internal organs when the bullet breaks or ruptures them. Additionally, shrapnel kills, melee kills, and stealth kills have been added to the system.

This is a game that wants you to be super patient and calculating, which is tough to do when you know people are watching and while you're talking as you're playing. Richard did great!

Yeah, I wouldn’t want to be in his shoes with this game; I played through it trying to be stealthy most of the time, which meant a lot of time analyzing enemy movements, waiting for opportunities, etc. wouldn’t make for an entertaining video for most lol.

Lol this was sort of me when I played this game. Started out trying to be a super stealth sniper then towards the end I increasingly just shot enemies outright once I had a good position, even if it would alert them.

Fun video! I was thinking, when Richard was talking about how one shot should at least have a notable effect on the wounded, don't these games have a more lethal damage option? I have played them, but it's been a minute. I know there was a decent about of things you could adjust to the shooting mechanics, didn't that extend somewhat to TTK?

The only thing that really affects time to kill in Sniper Elite 4 is the damage statistic of the rifle you use, and I think he was using the M1903 Springfield and Kar98k here which are both pretty high damage. Difficulty mode doesn't affect enemy health at all I don't think, and most of the shooting options are just related to the accuracy and ballastics simulation stuff like wind and elevation. tbh I get what he means because, whilst an upper torso shot is highly likely to kill with any bolt action rifle in the game, you do occasionally get those shots where you'll hit someone in the chest but somehow miss both the lungs and heart, and they'll fall to the ground, but then they'll just get up and keep on running. So they've taken a really bad hit, but it doesn't affect their mobility at all. It would be cool if taking hits like that at least made them move slower or something. There is a "down but not out" system where certain high damage but not quite lethal shots will incapacitate an enemy, and their buddies will try to pick them up and carry them to safety, but it doesn't happen very often in my experience.

@@yewtewbstew547 yeah higher difficulties add elements to the sniping and boost enemy damage dealt to you, as well as their ability to triangulate shots. So basically the enemies never get tankier the higher the difficulty, you just get less tanky.

@@yewtewbstew547 Actually the custom difficulty options include a toughness option for the AI, which suggests that higher difficulties do give enemies more health, though it doesn't tell you how much and at any rate vital organ shots are always a one hit kill so it doesn't come up too often. I think it's more important for secondaries and sidearms. Downing enemies is also pretty humorously unrealistic because while they will eventually bleed out, if their buddy gets them to safety he'll slap a bandage on them and they'll be fighting at full strength again like they'd never been shot at all.

The Welrod pistol the game gives you by default is pretty much the quietest firearm ever made. Unlike most modern suppressors which just catch the gas like a muffler, it's filled with cloth wipes that the round must penetrate in order to leave the barrel, absorbing the sound like a sponge. Up to as close as 15 feet, the report is not recognizable as a gunshot. It's good for about 12 shots before it becomes a regular suppressor. This game does not have wipe deterioration, but MGSV does, and Far Cry 6 has heat mechanics which I think just reset once the suppressor has cooled down

Another thing I love about this game is when you recon targets it gives a little bio. Like look at a normal infantry guy and it will say something like "This is Hans. Conscripted 1938. Hates his mom. or Likes waffles. Hates the bad treatment of POWs. etc." Just random junk i noticed when you spot them with binoculars to mark them.

I love Gamology especially for their Vets react videos. But I wish they used more "Ghost Recon Wildlands" clips for their react and gameplay clips. That was the last good tactical shooter for console in recent years (I haven't played Insurgency Sandstorm yet) and from tactics to gameplay mechanics, I think there's a ton of value to be found in watching the Spec Ops Bros or my guy here to go over those videos. 💯 How many of yall agree with me, or am I Lone Rangering this one??

Does Richard know he can suppress his rifle? In the menu, before the mission(s) start, go to Player Loadout and there will be squares and you can choose what items you want to bring and how many you have when you begin by default. You can choose suppressed rifle and pistol ammo.

For future playthroughs of this game please ask him not to try to shoot anyone at all except the actual targets. The reason being is that there are many enemies in Sniper elite 4 and killing anyone even with a silencer holds a big risk of giving away your position. Ask him not to run so much. Move very slowly, use the rock(from the inventory) to distract the enemy to get them out of his way. And finally when he reaches the targets wait for them to be alone and then take them out with silenced weapon or use sound masking from environment if possible. Even after that try not to rush too much. Wait and see where the enemies go first. That will help him a lot and cut down on the frustration. Also enemy snipers can be detected by their scope glints or a specific sound cue which lets you know if he has his scope set on you. On hearing that cue rush to cover as soon as possible to avoid getting fully measured(full detection) by the enemy sniper. Hope this helps.

Y'all need to tell him that he can mask his gunfire sound by firing when there's a plane going by. The noise indicator is in the middle top section of the screen and firing during noise masks you. The game's pretty much way less fun if you're getting spotted all the time

It's certainly more realistic than a lot of other games in terms of sniping anyway. I always giggle playing games like GTA where people are maniacally strafing with sniper rifles like they're no heavier than pistols, and there's no bullet drop or wind.

Now I've reminded myself of another game about Nazis, but it's played best in coop: Zombie Army Trilogy. It's a very neat game, Richard, Cameron and others won't regret it.
