What are the odds? I don't follow and watch Asmongold anywhere, but here on RU-vid. I was just rewatching his full Vampire Survivors VODs and this pops up right after I'm done. Holy Garlic God has returned!

The game has so many secrets and hidden characters. The spellbook and special maps, some are one time plays. The game is super fun and quirky and its had some pretty nice collabs. Been well worth my money. Plus Co-op is pretty sweet.

The ball chracter Leda still exists. I think the dev may have changed the means to aquire the character so they became locked / hidden for Asmon. I still have the character myself but have played a bit during 2023 so may have unlocked Leda after this change if it was made. Can't think of why else its not in Asmon's character selection.

Already 2 years. Still remember that time when McCool came to the stream and screaming about this game vs Torghast. Really fun stream.

It just occurs to me, the evolved pentagram jingle is the Time Freeze power up from Hudson's Adventure Island III for the NES. Took me years to notice.

I thought this all looked really familiar and went back to the beginning to check if he mentioned it but no. This level is based on contra hard corps. It was a game on sega Genesis. It was a side scroller and it was really hard as a 5 year old. The floating powerups the gun the badguys. All of this is from contra. Brownie was the best little brother character (me) because he was the shortest and most of the badguy bullets when over his head.

Oh boy, there's quite a bit stuff added since then. Not just the DLC (two crossovers), but also just free updates. All of that comes with new maps, new weapons, new power ups. I'm literally a point where any new character I can instaly beef up to god status cause of zillions of money I got and I still like to fire it up for that chill game of killing everything on the map Oh yeah, there's also local multiplayer of up to four and I think the devs are working on online multiplayer too.

You dont need to do the DLC map but the DLC has DLC like the upgrade boxes on the map making it way easier to unlock the new stuff.

Honest question: Did you ever play the original NES era Contra? I had it when I was like 6 years old so this is giving me a ton of nostalgia! The map is a clever mix of both the first stage from the NES and bits from the SNES era version. The remixed cover songs are on point too.

This game is the best in the whole genre. It beats all versions that came after it. The simplicity and style is unprecedented.

Watching asmongold call the time freeze wand garbage really hurts my soul. That thing fully upgraded is OP as hell. Edit: just jumped back into VS and oh man this game is so addicting still. I wish they released a physical version of this with a soundtrack or something. I'd buy it instantly

Vampire Survivors power creep is real, true, but remember that you very much can change what powers you have activated to customize difficulty. This is still a very well made game

I bought Vampire Survivors back then because of Asmon and always loved him playing it, idk what it is about this game buts its somehow very relaxing and addicting, I put 165 hours into it myself and it's such a simple game

I always wondered if Asmon thought about moving Japan? His little girl would be happy if he did, and all fast food is quarter of the price it it in the US. For example from Mc D's in US it would cost you 18 dollars for the big mac combo and in Japan the same combo converted from 806 yen to USD = less then 6 bucks, OH and 30 yen for extra topping and that like 0.19 cents or less.

I can't wait for Asmon to release the next video of this game.
