Mikko wants to be good and wants to do well she just needs the continued encouragement, redirects and support. You handled the situation with perfection! VERY GREAT MOMMY!!!!!!❤❤❤ Just one little tiny thing, instead of telling her, “I know that was HARD…”. You can say, “ See how NICE AND EASY that was!” Keeping it positive. Mikko is tender headed and there is a little of pulling to detangle and this makes her not only experience pain but makes her anxious before you even start to brush. SECRET TO BRUSHING AND DETANGLING: First Grip the hair tight; start at the ends and work your way up. While gripping the hair tight you are not pulling the hair, you are just gripping the hair tightly so that while you are detangling with a Denman brush, she won’t feel the hair being pulled. Try to limit how many times you pull or stretch her hair. It was so very nice to see your BEAUTIFUL eldest daughter be included. Doing things with all of your children prevents the resent they might have because one is getting more attention than the other. Your son is an amazing and smart helper!!! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽❤️❤️❤️

Dry detangling hurts. If you use water and conditioner or African Pride Aloe Vera prepoo, it will go a lot smoother and faster. The prepoo has helped me get though the tangles with half the time and effort.

Hey Precious and Mikko. I left a comment before not sure if you seen it. Please try wshing her hair already in about 8 sections of large twist... you can still get to the scalp and each strand and there will be less detangle time...Its also lets painful, I am extrememly tender headed I promise it works! You can wash here hair in the same way you ended her hair and using water and conditioner to finger throught each section under the water.

Hey Precious great job!! I’m sure you probably tried this and possibly didn’t use it since you were filming but turn the TV on to her favorite show to distract her and get her focus off you doing her hair. It’s almost like she is waiting for the next snag so she can react..😢.. my daughter is tender headed too.

To all those saying don’t cut it, you are obviously not the ones who have to spend literally hours fighting sensory episodes, trauma, and tantrums. There was a moment when Mom herself was reduced to tears of frustration. If cutting it makes it easier for everyone in the household, then by all means cut it! We only see a very edited version of what takes place behind the scenes with washing and styling Mikko’s hair.

If you decide to cut it, please donate the hair for children's wigs. Also, most times when you cut hair, it grows back longer, stronger, and thicker.

Her hair is beautiful! Please don't cut it. Detangle and hear condition it before you wash it.

I've mentioned it twice before. Curls blueberry bliss leave in conditioner melts the tangles right out of the hair. It is not expensive and you can find it at target and ulta. I can detangle with my fingers first then use a wet brush to finish before I style. Of course do sections at a time and work from the bottom up. Mikko can help with smoothing it on the ends and brushing the ends like you showed. You don't have to cut her beautiful hair. She will learn to take care of it if she helps.

Leaving it out the way you do leads to dryness and tangling. If you’re not going to cut it, keep moisture on her hair with a curling pudding and a good moisturizer. Plus keeping it in plaits will reduce a lot of your struggles. Her hair isn’t the type of hair you can leave out. It just ends up looking like a bush. I know my hair is like hers.

You are an amazing mom. Wish parents would use your methods with all children. She is really growing and progressing. ❤❤❤

She is so adorable and I wouldn’t want to cut her hair either. I think natural hair is more susceptible to getting tangled when it’s loose. As cute as her curly loose pigtails are maybe braid or twist them. This could help with a midweek refresh or on wash day because it won’t be so tangled. Do you use a leave in conditioner in her hair? Perhaps applying the leave in or moisturizer while her hair is still wet wet, detangle and put her hair in 5-6 chunky twist immediately before you use the Revair. My 6 year old daughter was tender headed and had the nerve to have thick waist length hair. I learned to not allow her hair to air dry after washing at all. The detangling and chunky twist happened at the sink 😂 Then I let that product marinate for 15 minutes before styling.

This! It's how I work with my son with autism as well. We just got a haircut through school. They have a barber chair and work with the kids getting them used to sitting in the chair, then the cape, then the water and combing. Takes a while, but slow and steady and the kiddos get used to the sensations gradually. Took three months for my son to allow the cut and we're so proud of him
