I installed my own SUMO SPRINGS - let me show you what I did.
This video shows the process of removing the original bump stops and replacing them with Sumo Springs on my Hymer Aktiv Promaster campervan . . . some of it was easy, other parts not so much. Hula girl plays an important role [ smile ]
I left both spacers on the Sumo Springs which I installed in the rear and the result was better handling in high winds and a more stable ride along curvy roads. They should also provide additional towing and load support [ which I clearly need because I haul a lot of stuff ]
The result was a 1 1/4” increase in clearance at the rear bumper and after using these successfully for about 2000 miles, I plan to install the front Sumo coils in the near future.
*PLEASE NOTE: After my “adult supervision" saw this video he pointed out that I did not show the additional blocks at the front and a safety jack supporting the rear (which can be briefly seen in the tape measure portion of the video) - I guess that’s why he’s the adult supervisor . . . please be careful.

I had talked to my husband about Sumo Springs on our Aktiv. He wasn't convinced ... until I showed him your video. It's the hula girl what does it! Thanks, CrazyLady. :)

If you add them to the front and back can you add bigger tires? I was thinking of 245 X 75R16 all terrain tires. Not going 4 X 4 driving but will get off the pavement.

Hi Frank - good question and one I'm still researching. I believe that the 245's require some minor modification to the wheel well and I'm not sure that would change with the addition of the front coil add-on. The 225's seem to be the most popular but I'm still checking tire ratings / load capacity and ratings etc. Most of my driving currently is pavement and I wouldn't want to sacrifice gas/mileage ratio right now, but when I go out west I'll be paying more attention to this. Please let us know if you find out any more info as I'm sure a lot of us are curious. Thanks.

Thanks for another very informative video! Have you heard any reviews for the Sumo rings for the front? It seems like they add extra stiffness to the front by "shortening" the front coil springs . . .

I like you video but going to the amazon with your link putting year, make but there is no promaster for the model? Or, this serial number as in the link will work?

Hi Dan, Thanks. The link is for the promaster vans, in the top left of the screen you will see an area to input year / model / make etc. if you need something different or to confirm that this is the correct size for your vehicle.

Hi Rich, I purchased on Amazon - there's a link to them in the description info area on the video amzn.to/2xLKY8a. I am still debating on doing the front - I'm pretty happy with how it's handling right now, but will let you know if I install the front ones.

Those front ones look way different than the rear ones. Are they correct?
@CrazyLadyCrankyDog
@CrazyLadyCrankyDog 6 лет назад
Hi Ceci, that is correct for the front ones (which I haven't done yet) and they install differently - I still have to research if putting them on the front is going to make the ride too stiff . . .
