Welcome, come inside and take a sneak peek into our Hymer Aktiv campervan - I share how we use it and am excited to show off a bunch of modifications I've done . . .
don’t mind the dishes in the sink [ AHEM ]
MODS include the following:
- Mat flooring overlay [ that I can shake out - YAY ]
- Privacy curtain [ super easy install ]
- Shoe cupboard [ no drilling required ]
- A handy sink insert [ that fits perfectly - YAY double YAY ] * LINK below
- Pantry baskets that pull out [ no more crouching down ]
- Sliding system for cutlery drawer [ super functionality ] * LINK below
- Additional drawers [ for even MORE storage - ahem ]
- NEW BED MOD [ yes, I pulled the existing bed out and replaced with a smaller bed that I leave down permanently - it lifts up on either side to allow access to the additional long storage cubbies created by raising the bed ]
- I doubled my counter space with slide away system [ really REALLY really like this feature ]
- Created a safe space for my furkid Alfie [ and I show you how it functions to keep him cozy and temperature controlled when I'm away from Betty ] . . . this is with the help of the power system that comes in my Hymer Aktiv with lithium batteries, underhood generator and voltstart [ Alfie is very grateful ]
- Added a solar monitor so I wouldn’t have to crawl into Alfie’s space to see if solar is working properly *LINK below

Just watched this for the second time and I discovered something! I had no idea there was a usable space just above the refrigerator and under the stove. I believe you took a towel or something out from there and it caught my eye. So I went out to the driveway and looked at my Hymer and there it was! Thank you for your informative videos. As a new owner of a Hymer, I appreciate all the tips and tricks you have shown. I always look forward to seeing what you have next for us.

Hi Cynthia, glad you liked the video. The upcoming one that talks specifically about organization should be easier to see specifics, this was meant as an overall peek. (unfortunately it's not as simple as re recording in another style). I am taking these comments regarding my style choice under consideration. Thanks for the input.

The small containers you have the the cabinet above the sink are amazing. Perfect fit! Our Brand new Hymer Aktiv 2.0 is waiting patiencely for you to share where you found those!! Great Work!

Thanks Anthony, I'm in the process of a couple of videos about organizing (they're taking a little longer than I anticipated) and it turns out those canisters are sold out everywhere ( amazon link to product specs here amzn.to/2PGb1Jm ) and so I am researching for another "perfect fit" solution. wow...that was really hard to watch. especially when i came to see details of hymer mods. if it had just been you and your dog (really cute) hanging out, that would have been fine. fun even. but when expecting to see details of van modifications it just ends up being frustrating.

I love your videos. They are always fun and helpful. I own a Hymer Aktiv 2.0 and want to install the same solar panel monitor that you have but am unsure how to do it. How did you do it? I also wish the videos didn't include the cartoon graphic.

Hi Kate, Yay a fellow Aktiv owner! The solar monitor is easy to hook up - literally just plugs into the side of the existing solar controller (not sure if you have the sofa or bed setup to tell you where it is, but usually next to the inverter). The tricky bit is hiding the wire if you want to. Yup, I listened to all the comments about the cartoon effect and made some changes for 2019, and so glad you enjoy them otherwise - thanks for watching.

Awesome, awsome, awesome Aktiv hacks and AWESOME ALFIE! Did you get the portable sink on AMAZON? The drawer organizers look like the type that one uses for a desk center drawer, right? I hope your channel grows so you can do links to Amazon. I'll keep watching. I retire at the end of October and hope to leave Chicago soon after. My house is on the market.

I actually made that one myself by cutting apart and reassembling 4 smaller ones to identify what size will work - I'm still searching for the "perfect" basket. The alternative is to put in a sliding deep shelf or box like unit.
