On Tuesday, new San Antonio Spur Chris Paul talked about joining Coach Gregg Popovich's team and playing alongside Victor Wembanyama, and why he's "excited" to play for the Silver and Black.
True veteran leader!!! Skilled talented leader who's willing to teach but at the same time humble enough to learn from anyone who has something to share.
Lotta respect for this dude. I gained more when he got traded to OKC and said same thing and then led them to playoffs. But now in final twilight of his career still saying the same thing and you can tell he’s so glad and excited to be in sa with pop and wemby
i see it differently. i see the confidence, but if hes not the best player then he should take the vet role like rondo. Theres a lot of players talking all kinds of crazy, but stating you wanna play or hoop is different than stating i want to win, or "i want to help develop these young guys". I could be overlooking this a lot, but i really am interested in how the spurs lineup will end up as. I have a lot of faith and respect in stephon castles game, and in my opinion castle/sochan could end up being the best defensive back court in the entire nba, and they are so young. That could be a stretch, but i question if chris paul deserves the starting spot. Basically what ever the line up ends up, i think you would be dumb not to start castle. Paul Castle Keldon? Sochan? Wemby Castle Keldon Harrison Barnes? Sochan Wemby What i thought Castle Vassell Keldon Sochan Wemby idk i just dont think you should stunt castles first year in the league at pg, i think you either start him at pg, or pull him off the bench as a 6 man and give him the primary ball handling duties.
Some basketball veterans prefered to finish their careers in Spurs, I remember that. Truly Glard seeing Chris in the organization, young basketballers could learn lots of things from him, I'm sure they will
This is so cool!! I'm not expecting a lot from CP3 this season playing wise, but it sounds like the whole team will benefit from his presence and basketball knowledge> cannot wait!!
I think he can still hoop. I mean, he can still read, break down, and exploit a defensive scheme with the best of them, and he’s a knock-down shooter in his own right. But yeah, I 100% agree his mentorship is going to be incredibly valuable to the younger players this season. Go Spurs!!!
He helped improve Shai's playmaking/court vision game and got them to the 5-seed plus with a 0.4% chance to make the playoffs, and he helped the Suns reach the Finals in his first year there. Who knows what CP3 x Wemby will look like
It was no captions yesterday but now with captions, thank you very much for who decided to give us, not perfect English hearing foreign people, those captions…Spurs ! Hop to have it…always without asking ! Merci beaucoup ❤
loool I want to see spurs on top too but lets be real, they are at least three years away from the possibility of being a legit play off team and even that is generous
He said he’s not here to coach, but he’ll share if they ask him. Let’s hope they keep asking him questions. Forget Castle, what about Wemby becoming an elite passer? Dream big people!
He's going to add to the overall IQ of the team. On both sides of the ball. He's not the defender he once was but he does understand the game. So after he gets an understanding of what pops wants with the things pop is going to add to help Wemby. It can't just be accidental ball anymore and guys sitting at the three-point line. Yes we need 3-point shooting but we need to create the best looks. And have guys who are a threat at mid range and three in Harrison Barnes and Chris Paul. He can help the offense see the big picture. Help them create space show how to use to pick-and-roll at a high level. Guys have to defend their man well cut thru screens eliminate drives going to the right. Make it difficult on the ball handler. When we play zone defense we can't lag off so much and make it hard to recover when we need to affect shots. We got to play tighter zone anticipate more pass perception pass the ball better as a team. Like have more pride in that pride in rebounding and take what teams give us. The more cutters we have with purpose off the ball the more easy layups easy 3 s and easy one on one match ups Wemby will have. I love that wemby shooting threes and gets alley oops. Now Wemby has to find his spots dominant before help can rip the ball and be consistent at that
coach pop's biggest fanboy trying to play for him before retiring lol. I been following cp3 since clips days and I always appreciate what he did for the valley, never thought he would go there in a billion years. All the best spurs
@@Dranzerl idk about that he’s a solid vet but not a top 3 passer anymore passing is a lot less useful when it’s all you can do lebrons still better jokic better haliburton better Trae better I could keep going but his passing becomes less effedctive when he is no longer a scoring threat still a solid bet but wemby is a different breed so could resurrect cp3 a bit
I think one of his biggest assets as far as being a leader for the younger players is just how hot his competitive fire burns. They're all professionals, they're all competitors, but I think CP3 might offer an great example of taking that to the next level.
As a Spurs fan I've hated CP3 so much over the years. But in hindsight, he's just like Manu in that he'd do whatever it takes to help his team win. I'm sure fans of many teams hated Manu for the same reason, flops and all. Funny enough CP3 is actually top of my wishlist for FA this off-season knowing what he can do for Wemby without breaking the bank. Now with Castle as an understudy this can't work out any more perfectly. GSG!
CP3 welcome to San Antonio ! Rather have you bring up the ball and draw plays up and dish out to our guys for open , smarter basketball and mentor these youngins as you ball up
I aint a fan of Spurs or CP3, but I want to be a fan cuz I just feel that this is a good combination! I feel like Pop will love CP3 so much he probably gonna let him coach! lol
Im sure he will be a starter and get good minutes. I dont think cp3 would have accepted coming to the spurs if that wasnt going to be the case. He was probably like "As long as i start and get to play then im in."
He will get them in the playoffs watch,he couldn't be himself in Oakland this guy lives for helping underdog teams, spurs will be 7th seed watch Harrison Barns is a perfect pick-up also,2 experience vets that will provide great leadership to this Spurs organization!!!!!
Wamby better go to the gym asap he might be mvp. Chris is a gr8 floor general and plays defense the right way. Pop will work this out....im still a rockets fan so welcome back to Texas and the woodlands
I think I figured it out CP Not only do I get to try and elevate a once in a generation player I can canvas for a job to fill the spot of THE GOAT 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿 ok CP I see you 😎
Undoubtedly, Chris Paul is destined to become a first-rate coach. His professionalism and determination cannot help but improve the basketball IQ of his young teammates.
7 years too late, buddy. All that love and adulation he bestowed upon Pop over the years but never wanted to play for him til he was at the tail end of his career.
cp3 at the point of his career to join a team to say he was teammates with one of the future GOAT. sad to see he will end his career with no championships
