I’m fine with blowing that kind of money but only on special occasions when it is preplanned and not just an impulse splurge. I also prefer it to be something that is difficult or a pain to make at home. For instance, I very much know my way around a grill, I pride myself on making a delectable steak, so I don’t buy steaks at a restaurant for double the price. But seafood for something that I’m not good at cooking, spending the intentional pretty penny is fine occasionally/rarely.

No new Mercedes is not a “sacrifice”. You make plenty of money dude, stop complaining and use common sense. I’m sick of people who are so much better off than others complaining they have it rough because they want a car they don’t NEED and want someone else to tell them it’s a good idea.

This is what happens when you raise your kids at a standard of living only YOU can afford. Raising kids is sacrifice. This means surrendering time, preferences, and pleasures. No one, including Dave, is willing to talk about reducing your lifestyle while parenting so your kids have an appreciation of wealth rather than entitlement.
