Future Johto sounds cool. And let's not forget that Tera Types are essentially a Pokémon's Hidden Power. Can't wait for Gen 10 where the mechanic is a broken version of Assist so that 1 mon can have 8 moves.
The fact that we have the legendary beast as paradox pokemon as well as the sword trio maybe it would be a paradoxical unova/johto game mixing the core concepts and themes of both games into one
i wish we get some Johto legends! At the same time, I really hope they don't do it in a futuristic ambience because what I love from Johto is the more laid-back traditional vibes. But yeah... it makes a lot of sense and I can image them going this direction 😅
The problem with setting things in the future means that you complicate story-telling later. In later installments, you can't say or do anything that would contradict what you said previously about the future.

Wasn't Crystal Onix introduced in Gen 2 of Johto? I believe so but been years since I watched the anime. If you're right about a Johto with past crystal themes similar to Terastal forms, I could see them finally go in explaining how Crystal Onix exists.
I just want Johto/Kanto and the orange islands in one game. Maybe add in a few Pokemon like dragon and ghost eeveelution. Bring in shadow Lugia and the plot of pokemon 2000. Hell shit give us a grass flying legendary bird.
What I'd love for a second Legends game is something set in the future as well, except I don't think it would be set in Johto, but rather, in Unova, considering how Legends Arceus tied in with BD/SP, so logically, a Legends game in Unova would tie in with potential Gen 5 remakes. Nothing about Johto just speaks "futuristic" to me, lt always came across as "traditionalist" in nature, while Unova feels more "progressive" for a game that has a future setting. What I personally imagine is a post-apocalyptic Unova, think something like Fallout, but with Pokemon. Granted that might never happen, but it would be a very different setting, and would sort of be like Breath of the Wild, a world that's crumbling, struggling to rebuild from a great cataclysm that occured long ago, like the Calamity from the aforementioned BotW.
It's not a bad concept. I do think a futuristic Johto could be an exciting and interesting direction to take things. But I don't think the evidence using the card game works very well and the Suicune connection seems pretty loose. I really don't think Gamefreak is that much of a lore junky compared to the fans and I don't think their writers are hyper aware of all the cross media stuff. Like Pokeopolis from the anime. That's come up in theories before for the games. While I think it's fun to play with I'm inclined to say it's not an indication of anything the games intended to do or intend to do now. It's just a separate idea that a largely disconnected branch of the franchise decided to do that to my knowledge has never been followed up. If reprints of the crystal type Pokemon came out I could see that being evidence but it seems unlikely to me that either GameFreak or The Pokemon Company wouldn't acknowledge and reference the connection. It's such a niche thing to draw inspiration from that withholding that information doesn't make sense to me.
Omg I really hope this is what they choose to do. Also don't forget Unova! There is a good chance we get amazing Unova and Johto games for the 10th generation which would be a very special time for pokemon
Johto is not going to happen. It had HGSS so its turn is done. Also rumors say Unova is next. BW remakes or Legends Unova are both discussed by fans to happen.
@@kratossette42Johto had a remake so it doesn't need a new game. Kanto did got LGPE but that is Kanto. It started the franchise so of course it will get remade again. Unova is next in line
Yeah that could work for johto we could do both past and future we could get celebi and see what johto was like before the main story started and after the main story of gold ended and see what lies ahead
