I’m reading this book now. My grandfather gave me a handful of maya angelou books. I’m on chapter 9 now

Bought the book today and wanted to look at a book review before I started. I came across your video and you did a great job with it. Growing up on the west coast has made me blinded by a lot of the things that actually happened in the south, I say this because I now live in North Carolina. Being Mexican has made me struggle with racism but still nothing I can compare to the stories I have heard around here. I will probably come back to this video when I finish just to see how I can relate to others.

Great review! I just finished the book today Such a powerful bittersweet story. What a complex and inspiring woman she is! Her writing is so vulnerable and lovely. Having read it 20 years ago- it was so dramatically different to read it now as a mom.

Thanks for sharing. I always wanted to understand this title Since I was young. I guess I have to read the book I really would prefer a audiobook .She was such a wise woman of influence.

I remember having to read this in high school in 2005 or 6. Not sure I appreciated it back then so I may give it another read. Eleven or twelve years later, and since living in Arkansas may change my vision.
