Due to the disrupted coolant flow in the MX-5 engine, the fourth cylinder is not properly cooled. The front in front out concept Mazda® used on this engine results in unequal cooling.
This is a problem as this causes different combustion situations in the different cylinders.
The overheating in the rear of the engine causes extra wear on different parts resulting in failing piston rings, incorrect emissions, decreasing engine performance and build up of carbon on the valves.
The completey new developped I.L.Motorsport coolant reroute takes care of all these problems.
Due to the front in rear out concept, the engine is more efficiently cooled and will show a more constant temperature reducing the wear on the engine internals.
Even in high load situations the temperature stays stable and helps keep the oil temperature more stable.
Because of the more consistent temperatures the engine management receives more accurate air fuel mixture data which is super important for forced induction engines.
The reroute kit will make your radiator optimize its cooling capabilities and reduce the risk of engine knock / detonation and provide optimal power output.
The kit will also reduce alternator load because the fans will not run as often as they are doing without a reroute kit.
The kit has the same sensor locations as the OEM cooling system, so there is no need for soldering or extending the wiring loom.
This kit contains:
cast aluminium adapter for rear of the engine
cast aluminium cover for the adapter piece
cast aluminium cover for the front thermostat housing
cast aluminium bracket for the supplied heater hose
high quality silicone heater hose
installation materials

This is the kit that I want for my 1.8L.

Almost perfect. You just need to add the bolt torque specs to the animation and its perfect :)

you might get some confusion showing the 1.8 in the animation but listing it as a 1.6. I know you show the unique steps in the top right corner but not everyone will notice. As for the product it looks great! I love the single block at the back and the hose support on the manifold. But I'd be tempted to add that it will make getting the oil filter out a pain from the top. Cant wait for the 1.8 kit it's going to be on my Christmas list next year.

Can this kit be used on 1.6 2000-2005 models? (NB-NBFL)?

I don't see why this kit wouldn't work on the 1.8. What's different about the 1.6? All other kits use the same parts for the 1.6 and 1.8.

Gutes Video! Gibt es das auch für den NB?

what happens to the coolant sensor on top of the thermostat on the 1.6?
@blitzwing1985
@blitzwing1985 7 лет назад
on the cap (for the old exit) they show a threaded hole so you just put it back in that location. it's a similar kit to others and they all have had a cap with a threaded hole for the sensor. Edit: just to add the title says 1.6 but that's the 1.8 engine in the animation. you can see the 1.6's unique steps in the top right corner.

Good question! I want to know, too!
@terryloweh

but isnt the purpose of the sensor to open or close the thermostat? with the thermostat being relocated, does it still need to be there and what would control the thermostat opening and closing?
@blitzwing1985
@blitzwing1985 7 лет назад
Terry Low the sensor on the front of the 1.6 just controls the radiator fans. Thermostats dont need any electronics.

Why no application for 1.8L?

"The kit has the same sensor locations as the OEM cooling system, so there is no need for soldering or extending the wiring loom" is pr9obably a wrong statement since the coolant temp sensor to drive the cooling fans moves form the front to the back of the engine.....

No, you don't.. It's still located at the front of the engine, in the cap you fit instead of the neck. The sensor you see at the back of the engine is for the temperature gauge inside the car, the one at the front is controlling the radiator fan.
