I took watermelon jolly ranchers in vodka for a week and thought that it was just okay. Drank half and then added tonic water to it and OMG ... made a world of difference. was so good!

Hey Ryan, I'm @thecocktaildispencer a bartender from Vancouver, BC. I have actually met a friend of yours who also bartends in high end establishments. I have experience working in mostly Italian and some French establishments and I just would like to shed some light on Grappa and Brandy/Cognac. Grappa like you said is made out of the waste from winemaking, and is primarily drank as a digestif. It is to be served cold and sits in the fridge alongside other chilled digestifs and aperitifs such as sambuca, limoncello, ouzo and jagermeister! Grappa is considered a Brandy based spirit as you mentioned, and Brandy isn't cognac but cognac is Brandy. With regulations and restrictions. Brandy can be made out of any fruit juice. While cognac has to be made out of white grapes and be produced in a specific region. Thanks for making me go back and fact check myself, it's always good to brush up on my knowledge and learn a thing or two on the way. I have been out of work for awhile because I got stabbed in the chest and had to have several surgeries. But I survived and I saved a dog so I win! Hope you enjoyed this information!

@DokaRyan You should try Finnish "Salmiakki koskenkorva". It was invented 1991, banned 1993 (cause of young girls liking the taste) and restocked 1995. The recipe is secret, but while banned, bartenders tend to make it: Normal half liter 40% vodka bottle (preferabebly Koskenkorva or Finlandia), crushing one bag of "Turkish peber"-candies (the normal blue ones) and putting the bottle sealed trough a industrial dishwasher. When cooled, it was just like the taste.

I bought one of those 90 dollar whiskey bottles with cross on it last year. So goddamn tasty. Easily one of the most flavourful whiskeys i have ever had. I am pretty sure they call it a hennesy but its whiskey anyway. You could drink the whole bottle on ice without needing a sip or bite of anything else. What an experience.
