My husband and I are in the adoption process and we have learned that even when placed in the most loving homes usually adopted children experience severe trauma, in identity, in abandonment, in disconnection. I can’t even imagine what this woman has been through. Dr. John is right, she was doing everything she could to survive. I hope she gets the help she needs to forgive herself and create her own validation so she can move forward and be the woman she has always wanted to become ❤

Hello. I want to encourage you that what you wrote is not always true! My husband and I adopted our 5 month old from Guatemala in 2002. She was happy and always felt confident in our love. We explained to her that her mother could not afford to keep her and with a loving heart she allowed us to adopt her. We gave her a good life and she always knew how precious she was. We told her this daily. I miss my sweet daughter who died of kidney failure 18 months ago at 21, 13 months after my husband’s untimely death. I am now alone but grateful for every day I had my husband and awesome daughter. Let her now you love her constantly and don’t deny her birth heritage. I pray for your family and wish you all the best! 🙏🏻💜

My adopted Guatemalan daughter (Hispanic and Mayan Indian) was my heart. My husband and I adopted her at 5 months old. We are white, but it didn’t matter, she was beautiful. I lost both her at 21 and my husband in the last 2.5 years, of medical conditions. She was such a blessing to us and the best earthly present I ever got. Always tell your child how precious and loved they are! I’m praying for your family! 🙏🏻

I feel like there is so much judgement on this woman. I’ve never heard her story before (call me out of the loop 🤷🏻‍♀️) but I don’t believe she’s trying to do anything or capitalize on her trauma. I’ve called into the show with a heavy heart (I haven’t been on the show) while being in therapy and staying in therapy. When I told my current therapist I called, he really cheered me on and said it was a great idea. He believes it’s a great way for me to ask another professional and get a 3rd unbiased opinion about what he’s been helping me with. I feel like (and I hope sincerely) maybe her mindset is the same in telling her story. I could be wrong, but I believe she’s searching for answers in multiple places to gain a bit from each interaction. Either way, I wish her all the best and send her lots of love. ❤❤

Some of the commenters , I just can’t begin to comprehend how you say this woman wants to cling to being a victim. Addicted to her story? A sob story? Really? First of all this woman has survived things that no child should experience. Full stop. Children should not be abused. So for people to hear her talk and feel anything other than compassion for a hurting human is just gross. You simply don’t get it. Childhood trauma is nothing to sneeze at. Yes, she knows her story, memorized it like a script. So? National media tour is not sex work. And by sharing her story maybe it will in some way help someone. So she feels a need for acceptance. Yep. Parental abandonment and betrayal will do that to a child. And there is still a big part of her psyche that is a small scared little girl. Shame on people.

Even then, it takes a long time to build trust with them, and stick it out through the emotional pain. People NEED to feel their emotions very, very much matter. That only happens when a Patient Person shows them genuine Empathy, (not a "Get To The Point" attitude.) Personally I don't strive to get this from human beings TOO much, anymore, because there are So Few genuinely unselfish human beings to find. Instead, I strive to GIVE that feeling of Safety to as many people as I can, by GIVING Empathy to others, (even in PASSING, talking about the hot or cold weather they're getting through.) I also strive daily to lean hard on my Father in heaven and my Jesus my Savior Who love me FIERCELY, powerfully, MAGNIFICENTLY and Perfectly, Who watch over me closely and tenderly every minute of every day, and Who NEVER cut me off when listening to me, but give me COURAGE to thrive and enCourage~ment, with never failing and ENDLESS Love. And I learn everything I CAN about Them and how to become a more knowledgeable, loving person, like They are. I work hard at everything I choose to do. Hard Work in ANY way is heroic! Obeying Him and enforcing boundaries with human beings who don't obey Him are heroic achievements too. That's ME. You do YOU, I'll do me. I hope someday you'll join us but THIS is how I do MY Life and try hard to bless and enCourage "rambling on, too needy" people, whom I-I-I encounter. God be with you and Keep you. I think you need that type of love also, but am not sure if you can admit it. It's okay. You're just as lovable as I am or anyone ELSE. I believe there are many factors why people take so long to get to the point. Intense patience during these times is needed.

@joyces1365

The mom may not have had a choice in having a child. She may have been in a better situation to raise a child, but death, illness, or any number of uncontrollable sufferings took it away from her. Her story is sad. But there are a lot of sob stories out there. Where people, children, and teens, are in "survival mode" right now, especially in urban areas, because they were born into an environment they didn't ask for. Society doesn't "care" about *their* survival decisions caused by parental neglect, or familial and environmental trauma. *Society just judges their outcomes and says, "They should've known better... they should've taken more accountability."* In this case, unfortunately, she chose to compound her issues (like many tend to do) by entering into environments like the Escort business that thrives on fake, easy-to-get adulation. And feeds on broken people. It's no different than a young man joining a gang for the same easy-to-get, fake adulation he didn't get in his home. Gangs feed on broken people. Now that it's gone, like stopping "Corn," drugs, sx, gangs, or alcohol, there's a sizeable chasm left. It must be filled with salubrious things. But finding REAL validation is very, very hard. I wish her the very best.

But the fantasy was created. The people who DID adopt her, who chose her to be their child - are now cast by her as villains. This woman is extremely self-absorbed. We all go through garbage. But when you choose to make your life’s existence about being a victim, blaming everything on the people who chose to raise you (as flawed as they are), and then idolize your biological mother whom you never knew... you creat a misery for yourself all on your own. You know how they survive? By people caring enough, and putting in the actual effort, to help them stop living in their trauma, and move THROUGH it and OUT of it. You know who ends up offing themselves? The ones who continue to live in it - and people like you not only applaud them for living IN it, but encourage them to keep doing so. But these people don't matter to you - what matters is you virtue signaling and publicly announcing what an amazing person you are... while the people you use for this are dying. So you can eff ALL the way off.

@@wsh415 highly doubtful.. every state has legal protections for parents disciplining kids. She said it was one slap. You can tell the people that didn’t have parents that gave a crap. I’m 45 and remember my mother hauling off and slapping my mouth when I was rude to her. Meh - WTF was she supposed to do? Let me become an absolute nightmare? I thank her for that, she CARED enough to DO something when her words had no effect. She unexpectedly passed away a decade ago, and I was with her for her last four days on life support, and there holding her hand when she took her last breath. So many people want, so badly, to be seen as “victims” and get attention for it. This woman is her absolute worst enemy. She HAS parents, but she villainizes them and then idolizes her biological mother whom cannot possibly know anything about. She has no concept that her adopted parents were showing her a mindless by assuring her that her birth mother loved her. This woman needs help - in PRIVATE.

She has a big heart and I do think that one day after a lot of healing and some education on child care she would be a good mother. If that is something she would want to do. Having the awareness on the need to do better for yourself is a life skill most people don't have. I wish her well on her healing journey.

I am actually wondering if her father had undiagnosed OCPD. It is NOT cute and comical like people often seem to think and I am presently divorcing a man who is clinically diagnosed with it. People actually wonder why I did not pursue having children with this man, incidents like that most certainly would have occurred. I experienced all of that bar the actual hitting. Got to point my nerves were frayed and our marriage ultimately ended cos I bought one extra tiny tub of yogurt in a 2 for price of one deal. I wish more people realised.

We have a lot of work to do but I’m grateful. One day I decided to forgive him and start a relationship with him. I would still be on heroin if I hadn’t chosen to forgive him. Did he ever say sorry ? @@Andrea.Lynn114 My insight comes from 16 years of living with - and loving - someone with OCPD. I got chills when I heard that part about the OJ, it reminded me of the time we were moving interstate and I packed up my car and followed him to our new place few days after he did. I pulled up and he greeted me like a car-jacker, screaming at me to get out of the car cos I arrived later than he expected... starts tearing items out of my car... and then he found the OJ and other grocery items. Brand new, unopened, unspoilt... but he went (next level) Off His Brain. More stuff for him to have to find space for in the pantry, I doubt most men I know would react so crazy if they caught their woman cheating! I think I blanked out how just how bad it got on that and multiple other occasions; I really wanted (needed) to believe I was happily married. I was not a bit surprised to hear your mother divorced your father... but happy to hear you made peace with the reality of his predisposition. I have been in therapy a year now and believe it or not my ex and I get along extremely well these days... but I could never, ever live with him again.

She will keep talking about every friggin detail to anyone who will give her an ear. We all have a history - good or bad. There comes a time in life where, no matter what happened in your life, you need to get your act together on your own, stop telling everyone your story, stop being the victim, & stop thinking everyone wants to listen to you just bc you feel like talking. I really don't believe that her being adopted has anything to do with her adopted parents getting divorced or her relationship with her father.
