She’s likely making around $140-$160K after taxes considering her age and lack of experience. That’s only $6.67K per month after taxes. She would be taxed at 50%. I wouldn’t be surprised if her rent is closer to 60-70% of her income.

This is the issue with renting. They keep putting all these stupid amenities in when people just want a decent sized apartment to live in. I'm based in London, UK and people have been complaining here about the apartments costs. My sister in america says people are complaining about them too. We dont need spas, clubhouses, private dining areas and events. They charge loads of extra fees for them too. We just want a long term rental that doesn't cost half the earth to afford.
@02nupe

I hear you, but as this example shows there are people who want and will pay for those amenities. Im sure the apartment building is over 90% occupied too even at those prices.

There are more than enough choices in the US to not choose an apartment with those amenities - no one is forcing you to pick apt's that are ultra luxury. This apartment is in Brickell which is THE prime location in Miami right now.

For people who have never lived in any of the major 10 cities in America (I've lived in 4) please understand $4k in kansas in a 5 bedroom mansion is not the same as $4k in san Francisco or miami or new york. I own a property in Manhattan and bill my tenant $5k its a 1 bedroom but a 1 bedroom in manhattan varies (harlem or soho? Doorman or walk-up?) Also miami has had a major influx of rich new yorkers who have helped contribute to the rising living costs in all of Florida - so florida is still cheaper (tax wise) than living in a box in manhattan. Parking spots and balconys are normal amenities in almost all miami apartments whereas in new york these are not always offered and considered a luxury and 1 parking spot (not a covered garage) can on average raise your rent by $200/month in new york. So again for people not familiar with real estate in america or inflation, real estate is all about location not bedrooms or size. Blame the pandemic for real estate migration patterns and blame Biden for inflation, not the woman renting because she clearly has the money to pay for it. Let's not be bitter at her.

She could rent a three or four bedroom house within a 15-minute commute of Miami for the same price. And then if she's working for home, it doesn't really matter. I would go nuts living in a high-rise and having to carry all my groceries all over the place. So much easier to just pull into my garage open the door and carry them into the kitchen.

This is not something to be proud of. The fact that you need to pay 4k monthly for such small apartment shouldn’t be considered a deal, especially an apt located on a mall (wow big deal)…Miami is so overrated .. I’ve lived in Miami all my life, and I’m a homeowner, and many of us are struggling to keep up with our bills due to the current housing market situation, high cost of living, and it is so sad, one of the causes are people like you, that used to live in NY with huge salaries and decided to come to live here and pay whatever rent the landlord decides as you can perfectly manage because of your NY salary. Not your fault per se,but for sure one of the consequences of the Covid and post covid times, and of this poisoned system.
@jossie1081
@jossie1081 19 дней назад
Agree 100% Seems like Miami really got screwed over after Covid with all these people from CA and NY moving down to Miami with their salaries from other states. This has only made Miami become extremely expensive and driven out a lot of the locals. Soon, only the rich will be able to afford this city. I have no idea where much needed blue collar workers are going to live 🤷🏻‍♀️

$4100? That’s crazy!! Not because it’s a lot which it is…. but for that amount of money you should be living in a much better place. Maybe because you moved from a small place in NY which is some of the highest real estate in the world you don’t realize how ridiculous it is to spend over $4k for a small apartment. Also why would you offer more money than what they were asking? Plus how does the price go up $850 in one year?? That’s a 25% increase! Crazy for most but at least you seem happy 😊! To pay that much and be happy about it you’re definitely not from NY. Glad you are happy though!

In 10 years that obviously $498,000. You could pay off a 400k home in 10 years paying that much. I mean...i don't think it's worth it to overpay like that just to live in a certain location but to each their own
