Here’s a normal work day in the van, I don’t work digitally or remotely, my van is a travelling workshop! Full time vanlife doesn’t have to be just for digital nomads. The possibilities are endless. Miss Nancy the greyhound is the best assistant a person could hope for!

I hope miss Nancy's ok my dog seems to over do it when we go away ,i must say you're van is well organised. I've just purchased an awning decided when I'm away for a week I'd spend probably 2 nights at a campsite it's pretty difficult to keep the van tidy when my 4 legged best mate wants to chill out under my feet 😂 so hopefully she can now chill out in awning while I clean up and reorganise 😅

An awning would be awesome that sounds perfect! I’d love that. My van is still getting organised but a bit more all the time, could take forever though 😂 and it still turns into a shambles every night! Depressing. Nancy has been super lazy and loving it so hopefully she’s ok now! 🙏

Maybe an arrangement with a shop with a CNC jewelers milling machine where you could do the software creative and you or they could do the machining - probably crude parts which you would finish. CNC capability is addictive but no matter how small, they wouldn't take to van life well. So do the creative - cnc files and part finishing in the van. Not a bad option if you have creations you just can't make (MAYBE the CNC would be able to) or if some parts are just too labour intensive.

I don’t know much about the CNC machines would be great to try it though. There are certainly a lot of things that are incredibly about intensive by hand I end up giving up lots of ideas they just aren’t suitable for my business, it would be fun to see things made from my designs 🙂

That is a lot of setup and teardown - you must be very disciplined. Does the van life work in the winter?

I’m not really I just have no choice in the van! Which sometimes I see as an annoyance, and sometimes as a good thing. Maybe a messy person such as myself needs to have there space limited 🤣 this winter I am not in the van, I was last winter. TBH I personally found it a struggle, it’s doable but I don’t think extremes of heat and living in a vehicle are necessarily that pleasant. Other people seem to manage though!

Is solar able to supply all your power needs, or do you have other ways to get power.

I only have solar, 400w and 2 x 100a lithium batteries which has been enough for me. I do have a DC to DC charger as part of the solar system so it does charge while I am driving as well.

You are the stuff that dreams are made of, my problem is I don't dream any more whem I go to sleep, I'm dead to the world. The only place I cam ever be with you is in my own personal paradise where you will become my dream partner with the golden locks and I won't be old either. And as it's a dream place it will be ever evolving and changing with no dogs allowed especially old greyhounds. Yeah that’s my main gig 🙂 I’d love to, they usually pierce with something hypoallergenic like titanium or stainless steel though and switch them out for something else for example silver when healed, and I just use silver/gold so it might have to be an after healed gift! 🫶🙏

I fabricate products and there are certain things and processes which greatly benefit from the right jig and the right tool. Is there not a workshop you could occasionally rent to do a lot of the basic work and then put your artistry in the final steps? I don't know anything about the kind of work you do, just accept this comment from an old production guy with no artistic talent.

You’re absolutely right, I’ve had to tailor my work and simplify things so that I can have a minimalist set up in the van and make certain things only, which works reasonably well. I’ve left a lot of tools behind, it would be great to use a workshop sometimes with some of the bigger tools but I can’t afford it at the moment, one day though!
