Van life sucks but Cornwall is beautiful ☀️🌻 and at least I have a greyhound

We (my ex-racing greyhound and I) are still living in the van in Cornwall, trying to escape the summer crowds and find some peace and solitude in the wild. We discover some amazing coastline on the Penwith Peninsula starting from Zennor, and hunt for some quiet beaches along the south west coastal path. I also find some unexpected vegan baking which is an awesome treat! This is a wonderful unspoilt corner of Cornwall, fantastic for anyone who loves getting oitside and into nature. We also have a few general van life struggles as usual! Hope you enjoy the ride,

We love you and are always with you ladies! I do love the vibe in this video story! Nancy is having a wonderful tour at the magical location! Great scenery, there. I love this dynamic in nature. Thank you! It’s such a beautiful coastline hard to go wrong, the beaches we found were incredible if hard to get down to! Beautiful colours in the sea and countryside 🩷💚💙 Nancy did have a good day, my favourite part was when she just lay down on the way back 😂 no thanks I’m done! 🐕🐶😂

It is beautiful, feels so wild out on the peninsula it’s my favourite area so far! Plus the one I’ve spent most time in in Cornwall. 😂 yeah they can’t have too much comfort really can they! 🤭🥰🐶

Another great video Tori. Love how Nancy just flops down when she needs a rest from walking 😍. The great bit of improvisation sorting out and makeshift dog bowl for Nancy 👍. You can get those combined water bottle with bowl for dogs now. They even have a little button on them so that any water that remains in the bowl can easily be put back into the bottle. I think they are a game changer. I know you're staying in a house now but how would you have coped during this particularly cold stretch we're having in Cornwall now? How much insulation does your van have, and did you install any heating system?

thank you 😊 I know she is so cute, she really gets pooped out in the summer especially and needs breaks poor thing. she actually does have her own water bottle and I have spare bowls but somehow managed to not have either in my bag 🙈 Well the temperatures at least aren’t freezing so we would get by we were in the van last winter, but i didn’t find it massively enjoyable! I’ve got a diesel heater but it’s sooooo noisy outside that there are lots of times i don’t feel comfortable turning it on, so I basically wore a lot off layers with this ridiculous fleece tracksuit over the top 🤣 the insulation really doesn’t retain heat well. I’ve got some videos from Dartmoor, it was -3 at night when we were there and it was…cold.

@@missnancysdayoff Leaving the water bottle is something we've all done. 😖 I can empathise a bit with the cold temperatures as I spend 10 months of the year living in a static caravan and it has very poor insulation. The heating is a poor excuse for central heating that's not worth putting on. I dropped by yesterday to check on the van and noticed the oils such as the olive oil in the kitchen is now solid. 😂 I wear a fleet hoodie thing over my clothes which makes me look like the yeti. 😂 I love Dartmoor, I enjoy the myths and legends and spooky stories associated with the area. Such as the stretch road that is haunted by the malevolent hairy hands.. 👻

Right, I can imagine they aren’t too well insulated either! I had night storage heater in my previous flat and they were totally useless so I pretty much worn a coat and hat for five years 🤣 The solid oil is depressing, last year before we moved into in minus 6 for weeks, all the water system froze and the battery would not charge, that was too much. When the water finally defrosted with pipes sprayed everywhere 🤣 Love it, I call my fleece trousers my tumnus trousers because I look like the fawn from the lion the witch and the wardrobe. OK I’ll be searching out that stretch of rod on my next trip!

@@missnancysdayoff Those blessed storage heaters, all full of promise and never deliver..😂 ' pipes sprayed everywhere' - now that is a nightmare. My landlord puts antifreeze in the toilet cisterns during the two months I'm not there. So much for looking after the environment, I'm sure that stuff's not supposed to go down the drain. I bet your Tumnus trousers look rather sweet. If you head over to Etsy you can get a Tumnus headdress to complete the look.🤭 That stretch of road runs from above Postbridge to Two Bridges. I remember my mother telling me years ago when she and her friend were travelling over Dartmoor they both saw a man on horseback wearing a tricorne hat in the dead of night. The apparition then disappeared with the wind. 😯

@Melatiah luckily I was able to fix the pipes it was a pain though! Never heard of antifreeze in a toiler before🙈 doesn’t sounds quite right! Well they certainly look funny. They are so big. Really big 🤣 ok I look for the matching headdress! Spooky! Now I want to go on a ghost hunt. Didn’t you say ghostly hands?! Or am i going mad

I imagine van life must be challenging and hard if you do it full time but you have a great companion with you, i only get to go away a few times a year but it's wonderful to be out and about with my dog they make everyday worthwhile and give you happy memories of your adventures together. ❤

It seems a pity to me that the only one you've got to give your love to is an old greyhound? like in that song by Elvis Presley. I'm a human version of an old hound dog and instantly available if you need a human replacement for that whiskery old mutt. There's obviously no money in what you're doing now, are you taking a career break or a gap year or something? I'm physically old but mentally young, I'm an unsung poet with lots of self published books to my credit, copies of which now form a dead weight in my wheelie suit case3 if I have to move; which I did a lot in Thailand in the 4 years I was there until recently. Maybe you could go into film production?
