Oh Amber, I cried along with you again during the film of of Lily. You gave each other the best in life there is to give. Let's talk about noseeems. ..or however you spell that. Somehow they hitched a ride to the West coast and YES, got me good. I did everything you did to relieve the pain from the Bug Bite thing, alcohol, cortisone, and beyond. I'll share a preventative trick that worked for me. First, I wore long pants and boots to keep them off my feet and legs. Then I sprayed my pants legs and shoes. HOWEVER, I found when I covered my skin in Vasoline they didn't bite me. Everyday I slathered the petroleum jelly on my skin, between my toes, my arms, fingers, and in general just all over my body. Guess what? NO MORE BITES! I couldn't believe it girl! I kept the jar with me and reapplied throughout the day. I finally healed and then cooler temps came so they are resting until next year. They bit my dtr too though she didn't have the reactions like I did. This has been a tough week for me. Our dear friend had a critical health issue and will be taken off life support today. Needless to say it hurts to breath,,,etc. This is so painful.

Hi Amber, I must say, I loved your friend Kathy! Everyone should have a friend like that! Loved loved the whip cream and pumpkin 🎃 pie. 😂. As far as Lillys memory, yes she is sorely missed, but if this is any consolation to you remember, she’s a fortunate little girl that she had a wonderful mama like you, and she lived a very adventurous life, unlike the majority of the furry friends out there, so you both were blessed. Great video. Loved the connection that you shared with Kathy! 😅 Only in Florida can you see an alligator being carried by a bear! I like to visit Florida but I don’t want to live there. The bugs eat me alive. I have allergic reactions to mosquitoes, fire ants, and the other stinging things. I can’t wait for the video of the Portugal trip. Have a great time. Be safe!

Hi Amber. Welcome to my part of the world. I live in Tallahassee. Your friend Kathy seems so much fun. It looks like you two had a great time. Sorry about the “ bites” you experienced. I have lived all my life in Florida except for a small stint in the Midwest. The only thing that bothers me is the mosquitoes and the humidity in the summers. Aldi’s I visit often. As you can see the prices aren’t bad. Apalachicola is a quaint town and I see you went to the Gibson Inn. Wakulla Springs is also great. Sorry you didn’t get to do the boat ride. My friend lives down in Sopchoppy and sees black bears all the time in her back yard. Have fun on your trip to Europe. Can’t wait to hear about your experience.

This was way back in the day before I was born, my parents moved from GA to FL with the two firstborn children in our family. The second born was just less than 2 years old but her allergic reaction to the "bugs" was so severe they had to move back to North Georgia very quickly. Her reaction was so bad they were afraid she would die. Though I didn't witness it, I have never forgotten the story of just how bad it was for my older sister as a baby.. My point being... this is a very real issue if one is allergic to these bugs.

Great video Amber. It was great seeing your friend Kathy. Aldi is really good supermarkets. In Australia we often get camping items. The brands are good quality products. Its common practice in Australia to use coins to use a shopping trolley. The market looked really cool. I love how your housing painted main colour is the darker colour and trimmings are white. It's normally opposite here. How did you do your beans? They looked delicious

I know that highway so well - Atlanta I-20 West to Texas. Many, many solo female road trips there. And will likely be many more (hopefully)! But after so many trips, that can be quite a boring drive alone. Thank goodness for audiobooks and hands free cell phone calls! I have found the people at the state rest area in Louisiana and Mississippi especially friendly, talkative and just delightful!

Great video. A park ranger in Crystal River told us to get Calgon body spray morning glory scent to keep the noseeums away. It was so popular that CVS and Walgreens stocked it at the check out. Worked very well for us.

Mmmmmmm...mushroom gravy! It was so interesting to me to see houses on stilts in when I went to Florida the first time. So wild that in some places, having houses in the air was safer than being on the ground. Whipped cream and giggling with a delightful friend...sounds like a perfect Thanksgiving. :)

Ditto to everything everyone else said. I used to have to go to FL for work (usually beach hotels). Now that I'm retired, I hope never to return. I grew up in Houston, which I consider just like FL but w/o noseeums. FL "water bugs" are just slightly smaller Houston roaches. I'm more into forests and mountains than water and beaches, but I very much enjoyed seeing you and friend having fun. Mmmm, the food!

Amber, I’m allergic too and I found that apple cider vinegar put on the bites really helps. Also works for fire ant bites! Good luck to you!

🦋😊🦋 Amber, I bought a pen type heating tool that helped me alot with mosquito bites. Many times if you use this pen as soon as you notice the bite, it stops the spreading process. I hope if you try it, it works for you. 🦋😊🦋

There is a State campground down at St Marks that has native burial mounds (if I remember correctly). There is a seafood restaurant down there and the oysters are the best that I’ve ever had. The natives are friendly!!!

Immense grief is the price we pay for having loved and having been loved, so unconditionally. Thank you for giving Lilly a safe, nurturing home and an active and adventurous existence during her lifetime. I honestly believe that is the greatest gift we can give such loving animals.

Ohhhhh no.....bug bite allergies suckkkkkk!!! Have you tried witch hazel or calamine lotion on the bites to help with the itching??? I have no idea if those are even available in the USA though....o.O....I'm so glad you had fun though and yay for tiny houses?!?! I live in Florida and no seeums drive me to distraction. I’ve found putting a gel ice pack on them right away for 20 minutes takes the itch away and reduces the bump. When you scratch, it spreads that venom around. There is a spray made in Florida by a womens owned company that is deet free and child/pet safe called nonoseeum. It’s sold at a lot of beach stores.

I only shop at Aldi's when in Ohio. Why go to a grocery store and spend 3 times as much! Aldi has great turnover and the stuff is always fresh.

My daughter works for Aldi’s office in our state. We have 3 Aldi’s in our area and have not been let down by their products. If you’ll notice by returning the cart none of them have whacked wheels or problems with any carts. Their chocolate is the best and if you like Girl Scout cookies they have some just like them for only $1.50 a bag! Never thought there were bears in Fla or even eating an alligator. My sister lives in Fort Lauderdale. Been on that side of the state many times.

What a fun video to watch young lady! Except for the allergic reaction! You two looked like you had so much fun….and great food!…… And hang in there with the Lily memories! 😕They will improve with time but likely will never fully go away because of ALL the love that there was between you and Lily!…..I have a few puppies from my past that will still bring a tear or two to my eyes every now when I think about them….BUT I believe one day we will all get to see our fur babies again! 😊🙏☝️

Piece of advice for you I too have allergic reaction to no see ums but nothing ever helped my bites until trial and error I found that using wrapping the (bite area with a soaked piece of gauze in pure witch hazel extract) for 12-24 hours draws out the irritation/ toxins and helps clear it up pretty quickly then just add gold bond rapid relief anti itch cream or benedryl clear gel if it still itches…. No more big red itchy blotches 😉.. good luck!

When I visited Florida I got bit by something too. I had blister like welts all over the bottom of my legs. I have never experienced itching like that in my life! I dont know if what bit me was no seums or sand fleas but I was miserable and decided Florida was not for me either (plus it was too humid).

I’ve been bitten by no seeums, they made big knots and the itch lasted 6 weeks, I’m terrified that I’ll be bitten by them, so understand how you feel. ❣️
