You need a caramel wheel to remove that glue. A common tool used in bodyshops normally used to remove glue from badges that's left on the bodywork amongst other things 😉 an attachment for your drill..

_WOW!_ The gentle hum of -nature- the neighbors bloody mower. My retired neighbor would mow the life out of his grass on a Sunday - even though he was home all week! The biggest, loudest mower known to man. Back in the days when the Grand Prix was actually worth watching he would drown out the TV every Sunday with that roaring drone. Happy days!

The reason the inside of the fuel tank isn't rusty is because it has a plastic liner, I think that they shrink over time as I can't get as much fuel in the car as I used to, but it still does the job. The fuel pump assembly was ZR-1 specific ($1,500 back in the day when you could get them) but it looks like a regular C4 Vette item with a second pump grafted on, bottom line restore the one you have because you can't get them anymore.

I was wondering if the vac was gunna blow up due to soaking up Vapor’s 😵‍💫😂……from the sparks from the motor……could imagine the vac exiting the stratosphere 😎👌🏽

you might also want to check if you have oil pressure, the LT5 will not fire unless the ecu sees a certain amount of oil pressure

What a loty of people don't know is that they are wider than a regular Corvette, so the engine would fit . And, just last Friday saw one in traffic in Brisbane (Qld) with a manual trans it sounded MAD! It's another one I never knew existed down under.

My bets on a crank sensor with that the ecu won’t fire the injectors and clearly there no rev reading. Could have even had the wire chewed on.

Brave....I've heard some horror stories of people hoovering out petrol tanks. Fuel fumes passing over the sparking brushes of the hoover motor turning the thing into a jet engine. Probably saved by being old petrol.

Ecu will not open injectors if there is not measured engine rpm. I bet how the engine wiring harnees looked that the fault is somewhere in that region. Chewed up wires -> blown fuse etc.

The water you rinsed the oil drum with was probably more flammable then that old fuel!

Wow I can’t believe the size of those Fuel containers. They are soooo small! The size of our Orange or milk containers here in the U.S ! You must get so many looks though from the Corvette in England though. I don’t remember seeing any there and that was London I visited a few times.

You're probably right - a bust crank sensor will mean no injectors firing and also no spark. Don't want to sound like i'm telling you how to suck eggs, but you'll want new plugs, new HT leads and new coil packs anyway. Impressive work cleaning that tank out from the inside.

The C4 ZR1 is my realistic dream car to own, massively under appreciated here. Really loving the videos lads, especially the methodical detail. One thought occurred to me but I’m sure you’ve already considered it - the oil is probably quite contaminated, are you going to swap it out before starting it? I heard they are dry sumped?

Check for a spark at a plug lead that would rule out your crank sensor,

Your RPM gauge was actually reading you can see it when you cranking rising ever so slightly so I think your crank sensor is working. I think you may have an immobiliser issue I think you may need to disable the VATS system and try again.

Hello, I looked at reference DTC codes for my C6 Z06; looks like camsensors of cranksensor related to the display and ecu or their wiring. I also included a link showing all the sensor's and plug's to/from the intake manifold of Your C5 LT5. ======================= What does the P0016 OBD-II code mean? When a P0016 OBD-II generic code is triggered, it alerts the driver that the camshaft position sensor (CMP) for bank 1, which detects camshaft rotation, is not corresponding to the crankshaft position sensor (CKP) signal The OBD-II code P0335 is a generic diagnostic trouble code that stands for “Crankshaft Position “A” Circuit Malfunction.” The code is set when your car's primary computer-also known as the powertrain control module (PCM)-is unable to detect a signal from the crankshaft position sensor. What Does the P0336 Code Mean? Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0336 stands for “Crankshaft Position Sensor “A” Circuit Range/Performance.” This engine code is set when the PCM receives a signal from the crankshaft position sensor that deviates from specification. I had to cringe watching that vacuum used on the fuel tank, a buddy of mine did that and the fumes were present the vacuum was found about 50 feet away. Safety first and hood luck.

I noticed my typo error: (C5) to be C4 - LT5 - Good luck with solving the issue's.

You should try your hands at electrolysis, a nice cheap way to clean up some metal parts 👌🏽

But he has done a few Corvettes and he does have a ZR1 if you get really stuck with anything you might be able to get in touch with him for some advice. Looking forward to the next vlog.

Which company did you buy that fuel evacuation pump system from ? That works so great ! The fuel tank came out do clean after you finished it. It was like new! How long was the fuel in to look like that ? Did it smell stale ?

Loved to use of a cut up pop bottle, I do the same when an emergency funnel is needed 👍. My only concern going forward, is that since it has a steel fuel tank ( was expecting alloy to keep the weight down) is that if this car is going to be stood for any length of time todays fuels will create more water in the tank, if it's driven regularly then it's less of an issue, perhaps instead of cleaning / refurbing that tank consider an alloy one?. great vid as usual , thank you.

Don't worry about the fuel socks on the pickup pipes. All the muck will be on the outside of them, the inside is the clean side.

See what I mean your just pissing around with things here and there, just bloody strip down the whole vehicle do all the body work rebuild the engine (gearbox if needed) fix what needs fixing, can’t fix it replace it, the rebuild and then you will cover everything, instead of looking for problems like you are doing, it’s like watching somebody who has never worked on a car before !! Why you pissing around with fuel if there might might a problem inside the engine etc this is painful to watch, your going to want to replace head gaskets etc anyway !!! AHhhhhhhh

Dont ever try to vacum a fuel tank with a normal vacum? You are pulling stuff through an electric motor. Even if it is evaporated it will still contain flammable gases.

I hate to be the one that sours the fun, BUT........ WTF.....that is a 🦄. Tank should be off , fuel lines replaced. If you need to start it use a external fuel supply. You really don't know what you have. Clean it and sell it. Let someone who knows what they are doing give it the respect it deserves.
