would be pretty simple to check the balancer and have a pretty good idea if its a stroker or not

I think your right 306 p heads pretty common combo. Plus you you tell by the 1-2 pull it looked like a 300ish wheel horse power car. Great vid great tech keep it up.

Its always something with these cars, why I think some people just decide to cut ties and sell. Like you, I sort of embrace the struggle with the car. Currently, mine is running great. But I had went thru a slew of things to get it there, after I swapped the intake. Too much to share here, but it was a journey to get it running good again. Looking forward to tackling my interior this winter👍

306,unless you think someone would go through the headache of a stroker motor and put crappy oem cast iron heads on it!!that makes no sense.i have a 306 with cam and AFR heads along with a small vortech blower.by just the video,mine would smoke that thing.no foot to the floor in first and barely in second in mine.good job on the idle fix though...

I have to say that is not a stroker. Even with gt40 heads, that thing should at least chirp third while melting 1st and 2nd. Thinking timing may be an issue because that trickflow intake, top end should pull better unless it has 2.73-3.27 rearend gears. If 94 oct is available, crank the timing to 16 degrees and work down from there. Gt40 heads love heat like the old chevy dart heads. Sp447s or autolite 104 plugs should be installed or there will be fouling within 500 miles.

I would put money on, its a stock internal 302 with steel GT40 heads & B303 cam.

My money is stock bottom end car. Heads cam intake. A 306 will bark them into 3rd pretty good. And if I'm spending the money on stroking it you can bet I'd put aluminum heads on her. Just my opinion.

Don't need super powers ... you have experience my dude. You can tell the difference when someone says shit about having one thing and you know it's another. Like this one idiot I bought my SN95 from. He says it made 400hp and I laughed so hard considering there's a stock cold air intake!!! Says the motor was worked on and "cams" when i saw an intake port not plugged in... I saved that car from him before he destroyed it. It's just all about experience that's all. Remember, we come from the days where we tuned and did timing by pure ear and a screwdriver. We just know these things.

Try a tempary swap with the alternator and battery..i had an ild truck where the alternater was goid but turned out to be week

the IAC has a pintle valve in it that moves when it's activated, things have ALWAYS been notorious for carbon build up keeping the valve from moving in and out. We always spray them down with brake parts cleaner or carb cleaner and then blow them out really good. I'm wondering if that's why the one that didn't work, doesn't work.

Measure the stroke with a welding rod through the spark plug hole

Great find on the ac idle up wire. I ran into the same issue on a mass air swap. The engine wiring harness I used didn't have provisions for ac. I had to run a separate wire from the ac clutch (if I remember right) to the computer. That told the computer that the ac was on and it needed to bump up the idle.

Did you put the original computer back in the car?I noticed you changed it with yours! Its possible his ecu may have had a different tune...

I've seen a few issues lately with those after market idle air control valves. If the Ford part is available may be worth it. My GT40 intake actually choked my stroker down but it ran better without a vacuum leak.

Wana make good power with fords need some good heads. Should be the 1st mod imo.

I run 18 base timing with aluminum y303 milled down to around 60cc and ported with lunatic 51014 and ported lower exploder intake. 93 pump gas and 3.73 gears with T5, want to change to 4.10. 12 seems low, I'd push for 16.

hey I love your videos, its actually been really helpful with my foxbody, but I ran into another bigger issue. I bought the car from a good friend of mine and some issues occur and when I took it to the mechanic shop the scanner read it as a 3.8L from what the ECU/ECM said and not a 5.0 like the engine that's in it. Apparently it was a engine swapped 3.8L to a 5.0L and im having to replace the ECU/ECM. So my question is do I have to buy an aftermarket computer if so where would be best to it from and if not then would any ECU/ECM from like ebay work just fine.

I agree with you, doesnt seem to be a 347 by the video. Looks like a good running 302, ive had cars run the same way with gt40 heads/intake and gears. My 347 notch runs 11.1 and pulls quite a bit harder than that car. Awesome car though bud, i envy the red..wish mine was. Check it out on IG sometime
