100% a ray. Ive caught heaps of rays and some monsters that were literally the size of a vw bonnet. 1 on the hawkesbury and 1 at dolls point. They take the bait, then when they realise they are hooked they drop to the bottom. You get some head shakes where they try and shake the hook out, but once they realise its not coming out, they gun it and you get spooled or the line snaps. I caught heaps on light braided line, but the 2 monsters were on 100 pound braided line with a 30kg leader.

That's a meter plus king mate, all the signs of how they fight in winter. 100% they take crabs too I've got a video on my phone of one on cranka crab and king. People say cranka crabs help avoid most species other than bream. But I've seen very decent king's, Jews and flatties take them

Awesome Mick, 👌 I've had a similar experiences fishing with vibes. Dropped straight on a Ray's head and hooked in the eye lid... Would love to say Jew but I believe it was a BIG BIG RAY!!!! It's always good fun though.

Hey mate, I hate to be this person, but I fought a ray for 45 mins on 8lb thinking it was a massive jew or barra. It was doing screaming runs, and what I thought were head shakes, but it was just flapping its wings. It fought very similar to what happened in the vid. The fisho in me wants that fish to have been a jew, but the realist in me thinks you snagged a stingray, or it ate it off the bottom. Nice vid.

Its such a good and such a shit feeling st the same time when you lose one like that! The exact same thing happened to me up here at Newcastle harbour two weeks ago. Gulp crabby on 6lbs braid and 8lbs leader. Jew picked it up and it held the bottom of about 90secs with a couple of small runs before busting me on a pylon. They always hit you on the bream gear!🤣

This is the time of the year for big trevs. Ive had 50 something cm trevs make me think I have a jew on and its always this time of year in the harbour. May be a jew but given the time of year and the way it fought I say decent trev

I've had a few massive bream do the same thing recently. I thought it was a ray, I thought it was a Jew but no they were 46+cm bream
