There are actually a few episodes in which Vivian Vance did not appear: 1) The Audition 2) Lucy Plays Cupid 3) Young Fans 4) Lucy Does a TV Commercial There are also a few episodes in which William Frawley did not appear: 1) The Quiz Show 2) Lucy Plays Cupid 3) Young Fans 4) The Star Upstairs
Thanks so much Rick...a great video! And...a big thank you for your kind words to me in the community section...you can't ever know how much i appreciated them and how much they meant to me. My mom is recovering and I am busy taking care of her. We watched the Lucy special on TV last night and laughed and laughed...we needed that. God bless you this Easter Rick...and your family as well. This world is a much better place because of you...and I mean that with every ounce of my being.
I took care of my father until he died and I took care of my mother until she died (they were divorced). People have no idea how draining that is. Hang in there.
Green stood in for Desi during rehearsals while Desi was running the studio. I always like watching Desi because, although he read through the script at the table read, he didn't see all the bits of business during rehearsals and his laughs during the filming were genuine.
Great video Rick. I wanted to suggest an idea. I know from seeing interviews with Lucy Arnaz and Desi Arnaz jr said their Lucille ball personality was very different from her character Lucy Ricardo. But Iam curious to know if there is a episode you feel the true Lucy ball comes out a little. For example in the episode of the cheese in the plane I see a difference in her personality then other times from previous seasons. Not sure if you get me, but I thought I throw this idea out there.
Thanks so much for posting this video, Rick. This was truly informational, especially for all of us Lucy fans who thought that we knew everything that we could in terms of trivia. I really, really enjoyed viewing this!
I feel like such a bad "I Love Lucy" fan! I have watched these shows for years and never realized he was in so many episodes. This is why I love your channel! Thanks for sharing!
How Ironic Rick, CBS just had a Lucy Special on last night, " Bonus Bucks" and "Funny Money". It was colorized and enjoyed seeing the different colors and textures that you not see on the original Black and White! Nice to see that even in todays programing, CBS has brought a little LUCY to todays viewers!
I’m young and in my early 20s, I honestly love old black and white tv shows. I’ve watched most of them from the ones you show as well as Donna reed show, mr Ed, leave it to Beaver..... ty so much for bring these beloved shows back to life. Love you channel and am so happy I found you!🖤
Wow, Bennet Green showed up quite a bit. Never really noticed he played so many small characters. Thanks for sharing this information Rick, I wouldn’t have known this had you not put out this video.
I've been watching ILL for a thousand years and never noticed Bennett Green with the exception of the florist part. Excellent catch Rick. Have a wonderful Easter Sunday!!
Not related but this past Friday night I put in a season 3 disc and watched "Bonus Bucks". Afterward I turned my DVD player off and was surfing the regular TV and I couldn't believe it, it was "Bonus Bucks" on CBS in color! I had no idea CBS was running colorized Lucy episodes on good Friday. But what are the odds that it would be the same exact episode that I had just watched?!?!? And I hadn't watched Bonus Bucks in a very long time either! Wild!
Great video!!! There are several actors in many of older tv shows that show up repeatedly in multiple shows. I would love to see something about those actors that made a living being secondary characters. I don't know any of their names but I remember thinking "hey I saw that guy/gal in (one show) and (other show)!" many times. I love your channel! ♡
Great video Rick! Yes, I think Ricky and Lucy were so particular about how the show ran and timing of everything, they used the same group of people like Bennet Green and Barbara Pepper.
Barbara Pepper was Lucy's best friend from back when they were both actresses at MGM ! LUCY always took care of her really good friends through out the yrs!
Great video Rick. Louis Nickoletti had a lot of appearances. I agree with you on Bennet Green was wearing Desi Arnaz's jacket. Thank you Rick for everything. As always, be hopeful.
Grandparents had only TV on block. Neighbors came over to watch "I Love Lucy". Only 3 Mil TV's in 1950 to 55M by 1960. Lucy ran 1951 to 59. TV cost went from $500 to $200. $200 in 1955 was like $1,900 today.
Watched the Lucy special last night. I loved the salad dressing episode when Ricky is sitting at the table figuring out their financial situation. He starts crying, "OH GET THOSE HONIONS AWAY FROM ME!" LOL! Rick, now when he starts speaking Spanish I think of You! What is he saying! Anyway take buddy.
Good job man! I had no idea that this guy was in so many episodes especially playing many small roles. I never even really noticed him until you brought him up. Good looking out my friend! Best, Marvin 😀
Wow, even with you pointing out Bennet Green each time, I didn't recognize him in each scene as the same man. You have a great eye! I recognize Ricky's jacket in the outside scene. Seem like Lucy was very loyal to her people.
I'm a HUGE fan of "Lucy" like you but I have never put that character together on all those episodes! GREAT JOB Rick! (p.s. @ 6:44 is that a curtain on the right??)
Great video Rick! I love the way they used the same actors repeatedly! It shows what a true family this show really was and will always be! Thanks for sharing about Bennett Green! Congratulations to all the winners!
I noticed that someone mentioned Barbara Pepper. I was thinking Barbara at first, but Bennet clearly was in more episodes. I know that Barbara was a very good friend of Lucy's. I don't know why I didn't notice Bennet Green more! I haven't seen, on a regular basis, any I Love Lucy episodes in many years! Thanks Rick. I always enjoy the videos!
Hello Rick, great trivia. I recall all the episodes mentioned, but never noticed Bennett Green in so many of them. He also appeared in about 8 episodes of 'The Lucy Show'.
Love your informative I Love Lucy videos! Have you done a video about the actor who plays several roles- the Parisian con artist painter, the eye doctor and the guy Ricky is having a duel with? He was my favourite!
Great work, Rick. I enjoy your videos. Speaking of "Rick," how did the name "Ricky Ricardo" become Desi's character? A Cuban-American friend of mine said Ricardo has never been a last name in that nation.
Rick You should remember I gave your two I Love Lucy t-shirts awhile ago. You say I was big fan that had Bob Hope in it. I didn't know that Bennett Green was in same episode. Thank you for your help.
I guess it was something about the moustache but my first guess was he was a real life relative of Desi Arnaz. Now I will watch the video. Thanks for another great look at everyone's favorite (blond turned) redhead. BTW, I had no idea so many kids played Little Ricky, I would have guessed 3, maybe 4.
I was surprised to see that "Mrs. Trumbull" only appeared in 11 episodes. I thought it would have been more, but I think there were numerous episodes where she was referred to ("I'll get Mrs. Trumbull to watch Little Ricky") but not seen.
Haven't seen an I Love Lucy episode in years. However, I recall alot of familiar faces used in minor supporting roles. Believe they were probably friends of Lucille Ball during her motion picture days.
Pretty cool. Thanks for this video I enjoyed watching the colorized money episodes last night. Things were very um colorful.....some colors I expected things to look like some were a surprise.
The fella didn't say much but he did have a lot appearances. Seems like a nice fella who didn't want to make waves and demand more speaking parts. Good seeing Bob at the end of the video. I used to hang out with him in the late 70's. Time sure has passed!
David Webb: I watched it yesterday on ABC also by accident just happened to be watching Jeopardy and they advertised I Love Lucy in color. I loved the color version. I didn't like the Christmas color version. Is this now every Friday at 8:00 pm?
I thought this was about Gale Gordon. He was LB's first choice for Fred Mertz, but he was unavailable. He made several appearances. You should make a video about him.
Yes, Cathy, the Arnazes were very loyal to their people, as long as they worked cheap! (Ex: when Elois Jenssen requested a raise, D&L did not even make a counter-offer but summarily fired her!) Barbara Pepper, Lucy's gal pal from the old days, worked cheap; just needed enough cash to pay the rent and buy a bottle.
Please do an episode of Lucys stand in. Thank you for the great videos! I am a huge I Love Lucy fan! I watch an episode every night right before I go to sleep!
@@ricknineg Thank you so much! I just watched the Hazel Pierce episode and really enjoyed it. Also, love your comment to always stay hopeful. Your videos are phenomenal!
Edward Everett Horton also make a guest appearance in “Lucy Plays Cupid”. And the same actor who played Wrong Way Feldman on Gilligans Island is on several different episode of I Love Lucy.
I thought we were going to learn who this recurring actor really was; that is maybe one of the producers or writers or someone like that, but I think I just mis-heard what you said at the beginning of the video. Anyway...this was interesting to watch.
Bennett Green being the stand in for Desi put him in many episodes but I think he went a step farther by speaking in many episodes way more than Lucy's stand in Hazel Pierce! Happy Easter to everyone!!
I was watching an episode of the “Beverly Hillbillies”, in which Margaret Drysdale’s father and John Cushing, the banker, go to Las Vegas. Bennett Green played the croupier at the craps table.
I worked with a young girl named Jenny, who’s aunt was Vivian Vance. Back in 1985, she brought photo albums to work to show us private childhood photos of Vivian with Jenny in her lap, her mom and Vivian when they were kids, Vivian’s wedding photos. Very rare, very private stuff. She allowed me to take home the photos one night and I created a video diary of all the shots. I don’t know where the video is. That’s the sad part!
Hi Rick! Great job on pointing out Bennett Green! That’s really cool! Do you know the name of the episode where Lucy buys groceries in bulk, and then sells them to friends and neighbors? She tried hiding everything so Ricky wouldn’t find out. I loved that episode! Thanks! 😊
Bob Carol? There is a woman that is in the majority of the I Love Lucy but could never locate who she was. I was wondering if it was a relative. I know about Barbara Pepper.
Can someone help me im looking for a I LOVE LUCY episode but I cant find it. I remember it was the one where Lucy wanted to get into show business but Rickey wouldn't let her. Does anyone remember that episode?
Great work again rick...I’ve been a sub of yours for a long time but if I want to watch your videos I have to come over to your channels their NOT ending up in my notifications section...I’ve unsubscribed then resubscribed it still didn’t work any suggestions?
I don't know if you have done this video, but there's an elderly woman that often appears in the background that I have always been curious to know who she was. She was part of the chorus when Lucy and The Mertzes put on a 1920s era style show, and you see her close in the Headda Hopper episode when Ricky's manager approaches her when he mistakes her for Mrs. Hopper after Lucy and Ricky jumped into the pool. Since she is often seen in the show I wonder if she was one of Lucille Ball's real friends or just an extra.
Yeah, I,m pretty sure she was one of Lucy,s friends. I remember, reading this, and so was another lady. A chubby, blonde lady named Barbara pepper, too. I think they knew each other when Lucy was just getting started in acting.
