Good god. that's a pain in the ass. I've always had end-of-driveway mailboxes since I've been in homes for most of my life over apartments. I don't recall ever having this problem.
omg i actually have a similar mailbox down in south jersey and im a little paranoid about something similar happening. thankfully it didnt happen to the last thing i ordered. its also times like these why i prefer in person shopping way more.
False! All you gotta do is call the supervisor for that carrier and let them to relay that info to said carrier. If you don’t call, then of course nothing will happen. And trust me, you will be able to speak to a supervisor about this.
Many. Many. Many times. My wife has had it the worst. She'd order some limited edition hard cover art books, and these fuckers would literally bend the thing in half and shove it in like I pissed in their Cheerios or something. Some very special one-off things have been completely destroyed by their borderline psychotic handling of our packages.
See, at least where i am at, if you get a package, the USPS puts a special key in your mailbox that you use to open a special package box that's under all of the mailboxes. Since the box is pretty big, there's almost no chance for this stupid bug to happen.
As a former USPS employee, emphasis on former, I apologize for you having to suffer that nonsense, Richard. That package should've went into the bigger parcel box, not your regular mail box, and your carrier knows that. It's part of the training. So I hope you did complain so that won't be an issue again.
