I flew this for 9 years with two deployments to Iraq in the Kiowa. Watching you fly this brings back so many memories. Got a few Combat videos up on my channel. We were dirty birds low and lethal. The robot voice on the apr-39 is EXACT! Thanks for the upload!
hey Devil, I’ve been watching you since seventh grade. I am now 22. I just enlisted in the US Navy as a Corpsman. I used to love your old fucked up fridays and marine corps mondays when I was younger. Wish you the best, thanks for everything. Shipping out Aug 8th. Do they still put shit in the food to not get wood?
It seems like DCS really struck gold with the releases of the F-4E and the Kiowa. I haven't been able to start flying the helicopters within DCS because of the complexity but I have been flying the Phantom for the past month and I too am addicted. I got into DCS over this last winter specifically because of the F-4Es release and I am so glad I did! I haven't been this into a game in over a decade.
On the last clip where you were trying to Point Track the Plane, if I'm in Area Track and want to enter point track, I typically hit the Slave/Unlsave button ONCE to exit Area Track, enter manual mode, and then hit the point track button. I have not had good luck with the offset acquire functions(probably user error). But this is the most reliable way for me to swap between Area Track and Point Track
You should definitely learn to lase and store. It would definitely help get back on target after you fumble with the buttons. I know the feeling, lol. Great content. Keep em coming.
Loving the Kiowa! Lots of fun to fly and pretty easy too. Check out the L2MUM feature! You can view live video from drones and other Kiowa’s. Supper cool.
Same here. I have not loaded another module since I got the Kiowa. I was surprised how stable and easy it is to fly. And the AI Pilot is brilliant. The only thing I have been struggling with is mapping the controls, try to streamline it for optimal performance. That’s just a me issue and takes time. Throwing a smoke grenade out the door to mark the location of baddies then engaging them with my rifle should be illegal. Too much fun! And yes, hiding behind a building with just the MMS above, picking out targets the popping up, launching a Hellfire then dropping back down while the missile tracks is just crazy cool.
You should check out VTOL vr again, they've added a LOT since you last made a vid. Helicopters, the tomcat(sorta), proper radar,. The current public testing branch added proper comms, ils, better clouds, and more a few weeks ago.
@@TheDevildogGamer it's not funny. No wonder there are so many horrible murders in America. Here in the UK, guns are banned and we have far less murders.
and to bad its way over priced, WAYYYY OVERPRICED. its literally the most expensive helicopter in DCS . and in DCS this helo doesn't fit anywhere, for modern the apache is worlds better, even for cold war, every other helicopter is faster, and better armed. Except maybe the huey but at least that can sling and carry stuff. Its not this helo's fault specifically its DCS's fault, as there really is no infantry in the game and it needs a major overhaul
Totally agree. It is not worth the price and very under armed. People will quickly tire of it. still a good module but don't think it has very much depth.
The Apache upon full release sometime in the future will be 10 dollars more expensive than the KW. One of the major selling points is the fact the Kiowa is essentially full featured out of the box, and the sticker shock is coming from the fact that it wasn't being sold for 50 dollars for a year in pre-order, then for 60 in early access, then to 70 in full release (which is ED's price model.) But like the guys who flew these things for real will tell you, its not the platform, it's the mission. Yes, the Apache is a juggernaut, and it can carry 4 times the hellfires, has a better gun that doesn't need a grease pencil mark to aim, et cetera, but the KW is a smaller platform that can get places the Apache can't. I also find the searching and targeting capabilities of the KW a little more intuitive, but I prefer the Aeroscout mission over the pure attack mission, so while I have both, my loyalty certainly lies in the OH-58
@@TacticalOni if you think this thing is fully done you're out of your mind, it's not even close. We will see updates and fixes for years to come so stop with that excuse. Even if it was a full release, the way it fits into dcs is very awkward and at most should have been a 49.99 helicopter. There is no scouting in dcs and even there was there's no data link, so you expect people to use radios ,not happening. It's plain helicopter with little features and boring low quantity weapons. Again if this wasn't dcs or if dcs had been updated 10 years ago as it should have been things might be different
@fastfed I can see some fixes that need to be made, no release is perfect. But, you didn't have to wait to use certain weapons or sensors or capabilities, they were all there, and will be there. Importantly, I would like to quell how pugnacious you're acting while also defending my position on the matter, so all I can simply say is that nothing is for everyone. I enjoy it, i know many people that enjoy it, and believe it or not, in a more fleshed out cooperative environment, you can scout, and you can make it work in the ways it was historically employed. One can hope that once the dynamic campaign works its way into the game someday, the single player scout will make more sense than it does now. For a lot of people it seems that they were expecting another apache and had over 4 years to understand what the machine could and couldn't do and chose not to do the research.
@@TacticalOni don't hold your breath for anything new with dcs other then money making modules . Also I'll remember in 2-3 weeks to reply to this thread because like now with almost no one flying this helo, in that time no one will fly it. Like the gazelle. Which actually I do like.
DDG; great expose! Glad you're having fun with it! But my brutha: You gotta get your rotor up to 100%! Beep the RPM trimmer on the collective a couple times until you see one amber chiclet on the Nr scale next to the radio frequencies. Seeing you fly around at 99% Nr made my IP lip quiver.
Barundus I can’t imagine how cool it must be for you to have worked so hard getting this bird right, and now getting to watch complete strangers trying to recreate a job you honed to perfection in the real world. It must not stop being a trip to see us trying to fly and fight in something you are so intimately familiar with. Like a blending of two completely different worlds. -Migdriver
@@jrodz808 It's really nimble and the flight model doesn't result in bobbing and weaving all around the place, like a typical SCAS equipped helicopter is actually like to fly. It also doesn't enter VRS within nanoseconds so you can actually just fly, as opposed to 'managing VRS entry parameters' like some of the other modules. I won't get into the VRS debate, but this one is just fun to operate. Relatively simple too, so it doesn't require the bookwork of the Apache.
I so wanna get this. I'm just waiting for ED to pay it's devs first and then I can actually start supporting them again and get the modules I really want.
For what you were engaging you should have taken APKWSs because you can carry 14 of them and for lightly armored targets like BMPs and ZSUs, they are more than enough, and they work exactly the same way as the Hellfires but you don't have to swap your LASER codes to fire the last one. They are really the best thing to carry for this type of flying. Or carry 7 APKWS and an M3 .50cal for infantry but 4 Hellfires is not a very versatile loadout.
I would buy this, but I'm not convinced it will stay updated because who knows if ED will pay the dev. It's also a smaller module so ED might care less about it
